Recently NBC did a program on Noah’s ark that at first I was hopeful would be sobering. Instead it became the most inaccurate portrayal of a Bible story ever produced for TV. Yet John Voight who played Noah thought it was good that they stuck so close to the story. Here's what was put on the screen before the program "For dramatic effect, we have taken dramatic license with some of the events of the mighty epic of Noah and the flood… So dramatic was their license hat the only thing one could find accurate is that there was a man named Noah who built the ark. Even the building of the ark is inaccurate as God numbers the planks of wood as a model to help Noah. Who in the world are they consulting?

God contacts Noah introducing as the Lord God creator of heaven and earth.(in an English accent). In this special presentation you have God speaking in the voice of Noah

God did not say Noah was pure, but was righteous-meaning he had faith and followed his commands among a wicked generation. There are so many flaws and what we would consider heresies that it would take quite some time to cover it all, so I’ll make it brief.

It starts to rain before they enter the Ark , they closed the door in the ark, not the Lord

Mixing the story of Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah with Noah with a span of the very least 350 years but the Septuagint gives it an extra 900 year spread.(2400 Sept. 3300 BC for flood –Abraham approx.2,000 BC.) The bible puts Abraham after the flood, after the tower of Babel in a completely different era. While the visual effects of fire and brimstone as judgement on Sodom certainly made their point, the story is inaccurate. Lot is portrayed as a scoundrel instead of a righteous man. He is spared in Sodom’s demise only to show up later after the world is flooded in a boat with a band of rebel marauders, that try to take over the boat by climbing in. after being fought off by Noah’s family and scared off by the animals they resort to throwing fiery coals on the boat. God eventually destroys them by a water spout. Another man that Noah met before the flood peddles up on his converted wagon to boat asking if anyone wants to buy his merchandise. Think of the whole world being flooded and this is what someone does when they arrive at the before the flood recedes God tells Noah perhaps I went to far, I’m one eternal perfect but I can be wrong. He then says he’s changed his mind and is going to make a clean sweep and destroy Noah and his family and waits to see if he will beg God for mercy.

At the end God says I need man as much as he needs me and makes a covenant that is not the biblical one because it’s a conditional agreement from both parties while the bibles is unconditional, God will fulfill it. What a bunch of gobbledygook nonsense.

I personally see this TV presentation as a mockery of the biblical story. They knew exactly when they were departing from the Bible. This is now available in the video stores. This is no different than the Mormons or JW's presentation of the Scriptures except it reaches more of the unsaved.
