TO DELIVER = The Gospel TO DEFINE = What we believe TO DEFEND = The truth of the Word After doing cult evangelism for several years we formed an official ministry here in the Islands to reach out to the over ¼ of the adult population that is involved in different cults, false teachings and religions. We are one of the most active states (ex. 53,000 Mormons, and 7,000 Jehovah Witnesses going door to door (approximately 35,000 being trained). The cults outnumber the church 2 to 1 in our state and are growing rapidly here as well as everywhere else. As pseudo Christian groups continue to grow we want to deter the free evangelization that is being done door to door each day, week after week. In Mt. 24 Jesus warned his disciples and us about deception more than any other thing. He stated many will come in his name representing him in an untruthful manner. These have also entered churches by false teachers and their spiritual movements. I believe what we are seeing today are many false prophets and teachers increasing and becoming common among us, prophecy is being fulfilled. We are living in that time He has forewarned us about. We have taken the initiative to do something about this in these Islands, something that has not been done before. We have three main objectives. First - Is to educate the community through the many means of communication, TV, radio and the Internet. We have found cults and false teachers very much dislike publicity. By making the public aware of what these groups or people really believe it prevents them from joining. In this way communities are made aware of the counterfeit groups evangelizing their neighborhoods. By sending out written information or making it available on the net we are able to give people an intelligent and biblical choice made on the facts from two sides, instead of only one. Second- To awaken the church to the activities of these groups and the mainstreaming of the New Age movement that has solidified itself in the schools, workplaces, the media, and even the Church. By equipping believers with the tools and effective ways to identify and witness we can successfully see those involved in false spirituality abandon their practices and receive Christ. Third- To Equip the church to be able to communicate better to those in these groups, and churches where they differ from historic Christianity. To have them understand we are being friends to them by telling them the truth, not their enemy. With a heart of compassion and patience we want to labor to convey the message of grace in Christ and his saving work. As it states in 2 Timothy 2:24-26 "And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will." Let Us Reason ministries has been involved in discipleship of those who leave the cults and false teachings. We are very much aware of the transition time of exiting as being crucial. As one entrances the body of Christ, there are many questions to be answered and many adjustments in ones lifestyle. It becomes difficult to lose ones former friends and accept new ones. Unfortunately the churches have been of little help in these matters, it has become shameful to what they do not do by their unknowledgeable neglect, we want to help change this. We are involved in counseling, meeting personally with those who are struggling to leave or concerned with friends and loved ones who are involved in cult groups and false teaching. We want to present the differences in a clear and concise fashion, motivated by love from God and for people (Mk.12:29-30; Gal.5:14). Love will speak the truth to win the hearer, not just the argument or a certain point. We make ourselves available to do seminars, lectures to group or churches to help instruct believers in practical ways to learn and witness. Video presentations, printed materials and skits are used to illustrate certain points. Those who are in cults are not necessarily evil but sinful and deceived. Many are mostly sincere honest people who are our neighbors and try to do what is considered good in our communities but they are in need of the gospel. In doing a ministry like this it is easy to be misunderstood, even by Christians. We do not harbor any resentment or hatred toward those in other religions or in Christian cults. The blame is not toward the people who are mostly sincere and trying to follow teachings they think is true. Our challenge is to show their leaders have deceived them into other Gospels, having them think they are serving God when in fact they are not. Our hope is that those who visit this site and read the articles will consider honestly what is being said. The message can be cutting at times but can be soothing if truth is pursued and accepted.
