"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and in which you stand By which also you are saved, if you keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless you have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scripture.(1 Cor. 15:1-4)

Paul treaches thatthe Gospel consists of Three points. 1) He died for our SINS 2) He was buried proving he died. 3) He rose again from the dead taking up the same body he came in.

The Gospel concerns Gods son and his work for us. The Son of God came as the savior (1 Jn 4:14), That he is Lord of the universe (which relates to a triune nature of God) We stand in it by trusting in his work. Salvation is a gift freely given not earned. We work from salvation not toward it. Our part is that we are commissioned to preach it and to make disciples.

2 Cor.11:3- "But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted-- you may well put up with it." (you will have to endure it, or you wear it beautifully. Or you put up with quite well).

Paul writing to the Corinthian church presents three terms that are used which are connected to being deceived.

1)Another Jesus - (allos) is a primary word; "else," different (in many applications) The name is the same, its the name Jesus from the Bible but it is not the Jesus of the Bible. He is different one, with some similarities on the surface level.

2)A different Spirit -(heteros)-to number as opposed to some former person or thing the other of two; referring to quality: that is, one that is not of the same nature, form, class, or kind, to be different

3)Another Gospel (heteros) of uncertain affinity; different: altered, strange. It is not the same one Paul preached, it has a qualitative difference.

If someone teaches that Jesus didn't obtain our salvation at the cross but finished it in hell by suffering and needed to be born again that is another Gospel. The bible is clear it is the blood shed at the mercy seat that forgave us. If someone teaches we can all do what the apostles did, that is another Gospel.

Gal 1:6-9 "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

Another gospel;the same sort"; heteros expresses a qualitative difference and denotes "another of a different sort. "Paul speaks of "a different (heteros), which is not another" in contrast to any other Gospel (allos, another like the one he preached),

Angels were always involved in revelation to mankind. Paul under prophetic inspiration warns the believers then and us now of receiving new understanding from a spiritual source that would alter what was first delivered to them. To be perverted means to twist a thing around, they destroyed it by having additions to grace.

To anathematize someone is to label them a false teacher or prophet. If someone teaches another gospel that affects who Christ is or how one relates to him , or distorts grace by subtracting or adding any work it becomes another Gospel.

Paul says they are to be cut off, cast away. anathema- a thing devoted to God without hope of being redeemed, in the OT. if it was an animal it was to be slain; in the NT. it is person or thing doomed to destruction.

Today we are confronted with a new type of Gospel, one of experiencing the supernatural, Healing (and sometimes even success are included ). Are signs and wonders part of the Gospel? The promise of healing as it is  taught today is never found in scripture, there were no healing miracle crusades. There were real healings but they were not the focus. The Focus was Christ and his forgiveness and man being reconciled to a holy God. Its interesting that when we hear of all the promises claimed today we never hear of the promise of persecution or tribulations for those who truly follow the Lord (Mk.10:30; Jn.16:33; 1 Thess.3:4; Rev1:9). Try preaching that at a crusade and see who shows up, or see how popular your ministry will be. These promises are just as viable as any other but unattractive for those who want their ears tickled.

Matt 7:21-25 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.22 "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' 24"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25"and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

When men such as Rodney H.Browne promote that there is a day coming when all one will have to do is raise their hand in the air and people will come to Christ to have their sins forgiven. This is another Gospel, we are to preach and teach not just wave our hands in the air like a magician.

In Mt.7:21-23 it talks about people using his name to prophecy, cast out demons and even do miracles (dunamis). Yet the lord said he never had a relationship with them. So the name is not a stamp of authenticity for anyone (obviously it was a different Jesus who was their source of power.) They were lawless they were not under his leadership,or guidance, they did not practice the law of Christ(which is to carry the weaker brothers burdens) . They tried to approach God on their own merit by their good deeds saying look at what we did, we had power. It wasn't about power but about knowing him in a relationship."I never knew you "he gave them what they already possessed, since they were departed from him to begin with. They operated on their own without the instructions of Christ.

Who is Jesus warning? The Church.

II Th 2:7-15 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work...Mystery of lawlessness (from mueo, "to initiate into the mysteries") mueomai, that which, being outside the range of unassisted natural apprehension, In the ordinary sense a "mystery" implies knowledge withheld; not easily detected or understood or it will be disguised.

vs.9 "The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the he, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which You were taught, whether by word or our epistle."

We are to adhere to the apostles teaching that was delivered in person or what they had written down for them. Explaining the faith that was delivered once to all the saints. Today we have many masquerading as modern apostles giving new revelation that leads one either to a new view or completely outside the written text of scripture.

These wonders have an evil source with equal power in terms of their manifestations . The love of the truth  will be at stake. Those who trust in their experiences will all be fooled because they have no measuring stick. They are not familiar with the word or hold to it to be immune from the deception .

Like Esau trading his birthright for a bowl of soup for his immediate need. they will trade away their only hope to know truth and believe the lie. Gods truth is his word. They believe a lie, a lie is not the opposite of the truth but is devoid of truth, it replaces it. Jesus spoke this of Satan in Jn.8:44 "he was a murderer from the beginning. He does not stand in the truth because their is no truth in him. when he speaks a lie he speaks from his own nature for he is a liar and the father of it." He stands in the temple of God (our body is the NT equivalent to the OT temple) and declares himself to be God 2 Thess.2:4. this is the Spirit of the one who is to come (the mystery of lawlessness). Anyone who calls themselves a messiah, a God with a big "G' or a little "g" are candidates for this position.

Who is Jesus warning? The Church

Mt.24:3 "Take heed that no one deceives you for many will come in my name saying "I Am" and will deceive many. "They will come in his Divine name and office, they will claim to know him in a special way, that they have his authority and approval. All this will occur inside the church. Matt 24:23-24 "Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There! 'do not believe it. "For false christ’s and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. "See I have warned you beforehand."

Christ means the anointed one, who the Bible says is the only Son of God. What are we hearing today, through new movements are those claiming to have a greater anointing. Go over to this person he is anointed, or the anointing is over therein this place or this ministry (the Christ presence is here and there). The anointing is not passed on by laying on of hands as in the catch the fire frenzy Passing the blessing, with laying on of hands was a symbolic accompaniment for the word spoken. There is no biblical basis to connect this with a transmission of a mantle, or anointing from one person to another especially in experiences such as slain in the Spirit. In Acts 19: Paul taught those those who had not heard the Gospel .Often when they heard the gospel they were baptized in the Spirit immediately (not from Paul). In this instance He laid hands on them to receive the Spirit and he came upon them. It wasn't from Paul's hands that it was transferred (GR.dia =through) but (epi =upon, as from above).

The same people who claim to have this anointing also teach "Nothing Jesus did was because He was the Son of God. The Bible says He laid aside His royal robes of Deity and when He walked on earth He did so as a Prophet under the Abrahamic Covenant."(Rodney H. Browne). "Why didn't Jesus openly proclaim Himself as God during His 33 years on earth? For one single reason. He hadn't come to earth as God, He'd come as man."          ( Kenneth Copeland, Believer's Voice of Victory magazine, Aug. 8, 1988. p.8.)

Jesus according to the apostles teaching was, and is forever God. This is another Jesus, who is only a man. One in line with the cults. If someone teaches a Jesus that is different in nature not being God or they represent him as something he was not that can affect how you follow him. That is another Jesus.

The OT. gives us two prohibitions in the symbolic act of anointing. Ex.30:32 commands that the anointing oil must not touch the flesh or be imitated. It was a grave sin to mix the oil of ones anointing in the same measure for another. Vs.33 warns of those making it for personal benefit were to be excommunicated. Today those who sell tapes and books saying they have a special anointing are committing the sin of simony, named after Simon the sorcerer who wanted to buy the Holy Spirit for his own use, the only difference is they are selling it.

The Torah regards any attempt of someone giving his anointing to another as an abomination. The Hebrew text is mekudesh Lacha meaning set apart or sanctified specifically unto you. this prohibition was evident When Elisha asked Elijah for his mantle in which he told his protégé it is not mine to give. He was told to wait and see if the Lord would place it on him ( Kings 2: 10) If he saw him taken to heaven he would receive the blessing. Yet he had to leave for it to be placed on him. there are no double portions today we all share the same anointing (1 Jn.2:27) just different giftings. Jesus is the baptizer, not man.

Whatever is being transferred today from one person to another is not the true anointing.

If the church wants the true anointing we need to get under the anointed one who was made head of the church. Ps. 133 tells us Behold how good and how pleasant it is for the brethren to dwell together. the next verse it is like the precious oil poured out on Aaron's head, coming down off his beard and dripping on to the rest of his body. Hebrews tells us Aaron as high priest is a picture of Christ a greater one. The anointing flows off the head of our high priest to the members of his body.

Christ was anointed with the spirit without measure our anointing can only come from the eternal mediator for man. Christ was anointed for burial first before he was anointed for exaltation. The church needs to die to self to receive the life of Christ, his spirit and then lord will give us power, not for self, but for his glory. Only then will we see the true signs and wonders of old.

What we hear as a apologetic from those who practice this kind of  Christianity is that there is a counterfeit for the real. But there is no REAL for the Ouiji board, or channeling, astral travel, and numerous other false spiritual activities. Satan is an inventor of new religions and practices as well as a counterfeiter.

Satan has a counterfeit program by using signs and wonders as his base of operation. Exod. 7:10-12.Tells us "And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods." Moses changed the water to Blood they also copied it. Ex.8:6-7 They were able to have more frogs copying Moses and Aaron vs.16-17. When God through Moses had lice made, they could not copy life, they recognized it was the finger of God. They can duplicate just about everything with power from a different source but they can't undo a divine miracle.

2 Tim 3:8 "Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith;" signs and wonders contrary to popular belief  changed very few hearts in Jesus day. They went after what he could do for them, instead of enjoying him and his teaching. They were motivated by selfishness.

True signs and miracles follow those whose concentration is on the word and the person of Christ, explaining key teachings to be spiritual food for those who want to grow and those who need to enter the flock. If this is not done can God actually honor these meetings with his power for peoples needs The healing and miracle evangelists are for the most part not teaching the word because -they are not hearing from the Holy Spirit who points to the word, they look to experiences to validate that God is, with them. Experience becomes the evidence of Feeling god.

We are not to have signs and wonders conferences with the traveling anointed, here today gone tomorrow (most often with our money, that is a true sign and wonder).

We see the apostles example of ministering in peoples lives consistently being there for them. We are told to make disciples takes time, patience and knowing the persons. This is the work that will be rewarded. We are not told to be the centerpiece of Gods power to attract those in need of a physical cure, we are to offer the spiritual cure.

Isa.8:16 "By the law and the testimony if they do not speak according to this word theirs no light in them." The law of Moses, The testimony of the prophets. This will distinguish the believers from unbelievers. One who discounts his word becomes a law to themselves, they become lawless. 2 Tim.4:2-5 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables", THAT TIME HAS COME" "… But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."

Fables are all things that go beyond what is written, that are not the truth.

This is why Paul said in 1 Cor.4:6, "do not exceed 'or go beyond what is written," These are warnings for our benefit and protection, to ignore them is spiritual suicide.

Who is Jesus warning? The Church!
