The Confusion of Mormonism "The father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as mans. (D & C 130:22) the Bible says Jn.4:24 God is spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." Christ was begotten of god. He was not born without the aid of man and that man was God,(Doctrines of Salvation 1:18) So God had sex with Mary. "...Jesus, our elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven," (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1, pp. 50-51). I'm not sure if they mean Adam or Lucifer either way they promote a literal begotten. Jesus is the only person who had our heavenly father as the father of his body (family home evening manual p.125-126 1972) Christ was begotten by an immortal father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal father." (Mormon doctrine p.547) When Pres.Hinckley was asked on a prime -time Australian TV broadcast if his church taught that God the Father has a wife, he replied, "I don't know, but I suppose so. As we have a Father I assume we have a mother." The interviewer David Ransom pressed him further. It was then Hinckley acknowledged: "Yes. Well we...Yes, we have a mother in heaven."' Similarly, when Time magazine in their 1997 cover story asked Hinckley if his church teaches that "God the Father was once a man," the Mormon president waffled: "I don't know that we teach it I don't know that we emphasize it ..I understand the philosophical background behind it, but I don't know a lot about it, and I don't think others know a lot about it." (From a transcript of the 9 November 1997 Compass TV program, 1997 Australian Broadcast Company.) Why would someone who is the head of the Church waffle on this? Because he knows what it sounds like. Especially if they want to appear like they have the veneer of Christianity. Pre-existence Spirits "'man, as a spirit, was begotten and born of heavenly parents, and reared to maturity in the eternal mansions of the Father,' that man is the 'offspring of celestial parentage, 'and that 'all men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity." (Mormon Doctrine, 1979, page 516) "Where Did You Come From? Life for you did not begin here on earth. You lived before you were born you will live on in the spirit world after your mortal life is ended. Thereafter, and throughout the eternities, You will live forever as a resurrected being." "In your life before birth, before the earth was created," "We all onced lived in the presence of God the eternal father. In the world before your were a spirit child of his." (Purpose of Life pamphlet)"In the heaven where our spirits were born, there are many Gods, each of whom has his own wife or wives, which were given to him while yet in this mortal state."(Orson Pratt the seer p.37) The First Presidency of the Mormon Church declared that, "Each [human being] is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents..." (Sept. 23, 1995 "The Family: A Proclamation to the World"). Polygamy and Marraige LDS Manual, Achieving a Celestial Marriage, p.65 "Consider this fact: Your marriage is a laboratory for godhood." Milton Hunter said, "The stupendous truth of the existence of a Heavenly Mother, as well as a Heavenly Father. " Sixth LDS President Joseph F. Smith stated, "Now, we are told in scriptures that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God in the flesh. Well, now for the benefit of the older ones, how are children begotten? I answer just as Jesus Christ was begotten of his father ... Jesus is the only person who had our Heavenly Father as the father of his body." (Family Home Evening Manual, 1972, pp.125-126). "We believe that our spiritual conception was sexual just as we believe that Christ's mortal conception was. Elucidating the latter, James E. Talmage says, "That child to be born of Mary was begotten of Elohim the Eternal Father, not in violation of natural law, but in accordance with a higher manifestation thereof." ( Robert A. Rees "Bearing Our Crosses Gracefully: Sex and the Single Mormon." 1991) He [God] created man, as we create our children; for there is no other process of creation in heaven, on the earth, in the earth, or under the earth, or in all the eternities, that is, that were, or that ever will be. ( JoD 11:122). Christ was begotten by an immortal father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal father."(Mormon doctrine p.547) "The birth of the savior was as natural as the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and bloodwas begotten of his father, as were of our fathers." (Journal of Discourses vol.8, p.115) The man Joseph, the husband of Mary, did not, that we know of, have more than one wife, but Mary the wife of Joseph had another husband. (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, 11:268) The Pharisees accused Jesus of being illegitimate as they said we were not born of fornication. The Mormons agree with the Pharisees, as the father got Mary pregnant without being married to her and she was then later married to Joseph. Jesus Married Jesus got married at Cana and had many wives Martha , mary and others he also had many children,"(J & D vol.1 345-346 vol.2 79-82 vol.4:259-260 the seer p.172) "before the Savior died, he looked upon his own natural children, as we look upon ours" (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 2, p. 82 p. 92; see 1853, 1963a). Thus, not only was Jesus married, be He also, according to Mormonism, had a family. One GOD or gods? Book of Mormon 2 Nephi 31:21 " and now behold, this is the doctrine of Christ. and the only and true doctrine of the father, and of the son, and of the H.Ghost, which is one god, without end." (Teachings of the prophet J.Smith p.370) This they now interpret as..."and these three (father, Son and Holy Ghost) constitute three distinct personages and Gods." Contradictions =Bruce McConkie after explaining 3 separate personages that comprise the Godhead. He says to us speaking in the proper finite sense these 3 are the only Gods we worship. In 1982 McConkie stated at a speech at BYU we worship the father and him alone and noone else, we do not worship the son and we do not worship the H. Ghost (our relationship with the Lord, p.95) But even in their own books it records 3rd Nephi 11:17 and 17:11 They fell down and worshipped at the feet of Jesus. He then later on says, "Three separate personages-Father, Son and holy Ghost- comprise the Godhead these three are the only Gods we worship."(Mormon Doctrine 1966 ed. P.576-577) So Mormons teach to worship Jesus but also 2 other Gods. The only worship acceptable is to the one true God, all other worship is false. The God of the bible is presented as a jealous God and says you shall have no other Gods before me, my name is jealous. Mt.2:2 they worshipped the baby Jesus. Mt.9:18 ruler bowed in worship to Jesus. Mt. 14:33 the disciples in the boat worshipped him. Mt. 15:25 a caananite women worshipped him and called him lord. Mt.28:9 the women after his resurrection worshipped him. Jn.9:38 Thomas worshipped him and said the Lord of me, the god of me. Rev.5:13-14 In heaven every created thing worships him and he father. Ex.34:14 God says you shall worship no other Gods. Rev. 14:7 they worship him who made heaven and earth. Rev. 19:16 Jesus is called king of kings and Lord of Lords. Isa.45:23 it states before God every knee will bow and every tongue will swear he is Lord as Phil.2:9-11 Paul points to Jesus as the God every one will bow and confess is Lord, to the glory of the Father. At meeting of school of the prophet, President Young said Adam was Michael, the Archangel and he was the Father of Jesus Christ and is our God & that Joseph taught... this principle. (Wilford Woodruff Journal, Dec. 16, 1867) President Brigham Young ... said Adam was Michael the Arch angel & he was the Father of Jesus Christ & was our God & that Joseph [Smith] taught..." ( Dec. 16,1869) But according to their beliefs Jesus is an angel who is the spirit brother of Lucifer. The bible says angels do not die (Lk.20:36) nor do they marry (Mt.22:30) and have offspring in heaven. Angels are not to be worshipped Yet the father says for all the angels to worship the Son (Heb.1:6) who according to Mormonism is an angel too. This is forbidden by God. The Jesus of Mormonism who is an angel also married and had offspring not only on earth but in heaven. This is why Jesus can't be God because he is an offspring of another angel called Michael (not the same one found in the Bible). Admittingly they claim" many of the Christian churches worship a different Jesus than is worshipped by the Mormons or the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. "(Bernard P.Brockbank, The Ensign, May 1977, Page 26) THEY'RE RIGHT for once. Recently in Paris President Hinkley said, of those who question whether the Mormons worship the same Jesus" No I dont. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ whom I speak has been revealed in this dispensation of the fullness of Times." (Deseret News, June 20 1998) He's absolutely correct. According to their theology Jesus is an angel in the same class as Lucifer."The spirit brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the savior of mankind. (Gospel through the ages p.15) "..That Lucifer, the son of the morning, is our elder brother and the brother of Jesus Christ." (Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p.163-164) And Michael the archangel is Adam. Yet in their writings Adam was a God. If Michael is Adam, then he fell into sin and became like all the angels that follow the devil, and is actually an enemy of god. If Adam was a god why is his offspring fallen men. 1 Cor. 15:47-48 tells us the first man Adam was taken from the earth he did not come from heaven. The 2nd Adam Jesus is the Lord from heaven. Mormons have a completely different story. Noah is the arch angel Gabriel (J. Smith taught this) he is next to Adam in the priesthood. (church news mar. 12 1994) Luke says it was Gabriel that appeared to Mary and Zecharias.(D.&C 27:7) Did Noah come back from the dead and visit him. Why did he revert back to an angel instead of becoming a God. The only angel the Bible writes about that wanted to become as God is Satan. And they want us to follow this pernicious doctrine and have the audacity to claim that they are the true Christians. The Gods of Mormonism "The universe is filled with vast number of intelligence's, and we further learn that Elohim is God simply because all of these intelligence's honor and sustain him as such ... if he should ever do any to violate the confidence or "sense of justice" of these intelligence's, they would promptly withdraw their support, and the power of God would disintegrate- he would cease to he God" Our heavenly father can do only those things which the intelligences under him are voluntarily willing to support him in accomplishing. (W. Cleon Skousen Former BYU professor and founder of the national center for constitutional studies "The first 2,000 years" pp.355,356) Here we have a glimpse into the Mormon definition of God. He is god because intelligences support him as such. No, he is THE GOD because he always will be the I am, that is who He is, and He will be God whether we honor him or not, whether we believe Him or not. He was God before anything was created and He will be God long after the Mormon religion goes the way of the dinosaur. He will not cease being God because we withdraw our support. He does not depend on man or anything else for His existence we depend on him- this is a great example of vain philosophy. The ONE God (singular) of the Bible The Bible describes God as unchangeable, eternal, immutable always existing. God himself says in Heb.1:10 " And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands... and they shall be changed: but thou art the same"( quote of Psalm 102:25) Mal.3:6 " I the Lord do not change." the God of the scriptures is presented as eternal in his nature, unchanging.what undergoes a change cannot be God change describes something not retaining its own being something that is created is subject to change. God is uncreated. The Bible teaches that God is eternal Duet. 33:27 Ps.90:2 " From everlasting to everlasting you are God." the word teaches also teaches that all three persons of the Godhead (deity) are also eternal, all belong to the order of eternity. The Father is eternal James 1:1 The Son is eternal Hebrews 13:8 " Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever." Micah 5:2 is speaking of Jesus-whose goings forth are from old (ancient times) from everlasting (from eternity)" The Holy Spirit is eternal Heb. 9:14 so we can see none of the persons of God became God, they are all equal in nature staying this way forever. In the scriptures only three persons are ever called God, no more than three are ever called God. Ex. 3:15 " I am who I am" Jesus applies this name of god for himself in Jn.8:58 " I tell you before Abraham was, I am." Ego emi; which is in the present indicative active form of the verb "to be" meaning, what is true of this being before is true of him today, that he has no change from eternity past to eternity future. Isaiah 43:10 'before me there was no God formed nor is there after me." No God is ever made or nor will God change. So Mormonism is wrong according to the true God. If God knows of no others how come Mormons do? What kind of God doesn't know of others of the same kind. How is it that Mormons know something that God does not? Mormons say Joseph Smith prayed for wisdom to which religion was correct? Essentially he was not only told that all the churches were an abomination, but the scripture itself was was to be discarded and be replaced. The very place God says to seek wisdom from! So where did Smith get his wisdom from? A spirit came to him, an angel of light. The Devil certainly can use the same bait he did with Adam and Eve. If one reads the story incorrectly reinterpreting it to be a good thing, of course they'll bite. Without the correct knowledge of the Bible discerning what is true, the same line can be used over and over again. Paul warns in 2 Cor.11:14 that Satan has the ability to transform himself into an angel of light. I ask you can this the light that Smith saw, that blinded him and held him captive? One needs to choose whose message they will follow. Will they listen to an angel who fell and became Satan the accuser of the People of God, who lied to Adam and made him fall. Who continues to lie to millions of others today. Will they listen to Jesus who is the truth and died for those who sinned. Those who want to become a god certainly dont need a savior but those who know the truth will come to the true light and confess they need someone to save them from their sins, the choice is up to each individual no one can make that for you. Potential Godhood with the devil or eternal life with Jesus, not much of a choice !
