Witnessing to Mormons on the eternal God verses their multiplicity of gods

Using their own prophet’s words ask them direct questions on Joseph Smith, who stated " In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted a plan to create the world and people in it... “I wish to declare I have always and in all congregations when I have preached on the subject of deity, it has been on the plurality of Gods…the doctrine of a plurality of Gods is as prominent in the Bible as any other doctrine .” (J. Smith History of the church vol.6 pp.308, 474)

The Plurality of gods is indeed found in the Bible, of which they are called false gods by the one and only true God.

[remember to have them read the quotes or scriptures out loud]

Ask them if there are many gods, are they true gods or false ones in the Bible. Can you name the other gods? Does the Bible name them?

When Ex 20:3 says “You shall have no other gods before Me.” Who is the me? Who are the other gods he is speaking of?

These are you prophet’s teachings that actually do not agree but go against the Bibles prophets.

how many Gods there are, I do not know. But there never was a time when there were no Gods and worlds …”(Brigham Young JoD vol.7 p.333)

Jer. 10:11 " The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens. "

Heavens and earth, that means all things created.

Isa 44:24" I am the LORD, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself”

Can you tell me which God created the heavens and the earth?

And how do you answer this quote[s] of Joseph Smith:

" God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man .... I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea and take away the veil, so that you may see...He was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ Himself did ..." (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 305-306).

What does this mean Mal 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I do not change.”

How can God who is everlasting, the only being that cannot change, be a man first and become a God, who is by nature always existing, even before creation? A man is created can a creature become God himself?

You claim you are a Christian The prophet of your religion explained “ First God himself, who sits enthroned in yonder heavens, is a man unto one of yourselves, that is the great secret .” (J. Smith Jr. Times and seasons vol.5 p.613 Aug.15 1844)

Was there ever a first God? How did he become this God from being a man. If man can become a god can he stop being god? Can you give me and example of any man who became a God.

How did Smith discover this so called secret?

He also said “ Here then is eternal life… to know the only wise and true God. And you have got to learn how to be gods yourselves and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods before you ... to inherit the same power, the same glory and the same exaltation, until you arrive at the station of a God ." (teachings of the prophet J. Smith p.346,347)

You can ask them to read these scriptures (out loud) and tell you what they mean.

Ps 97:9 For You, LORD, are most high above all the earth; You are exalted far above all gods .

1 Cor. 8:5-6 For even if there are so-called gods , whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.

Isa 43:10 “Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me.”

Isa 44:6 “I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.”

Isa 45:5 “I am the LORD, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me.”

v:6 “That there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other.”

v.18 “I am the LORD, and there is no other.”

v.21“And there is no other God besides Me.”

v. 22 “For I am God, and there is no other.”

Isa.46:9 For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me”

Why does the creator of heaven and earth keep saying there is “no other” (God) when Joseph Smith says there are others?

Zeph. 2:11 “ The LORD will be awesome to them, For He will reduce to nothing all the gods of the earth; People shall worship Him, Each one from his place, Indeed all the shores of the nations.
