                                           Howling at the moon

Do wolves howl at the moon? Apparently, only in the movies. It’s more a myth. But we now have a situation within the church where there are some outspoken prophet/seers, those who use the Scripture saying that the Blood moons are here now. Guess what, that means we’re in the Tribulation. To me they are howling at the moon (wolfing).

To take a scripture out of its context is a pretext. This is especially grievous when it is done to prophecy. When someone tells you prophecy is fulfilled from only one part being similar you had better question their ability to understand the prophetic scripture. You may be listening to a modern false prophet that is using the Scripture for his own gain.

When Peter spoke in Acts 2:20 “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.” He quoted Joel 2:31-32 “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the remnant whom the LORD calls.”

Peter did not mean that what they were seeing was the exact complete fulfillment of this verse but in part of what Joel spoke of this verse he applied  in relation to the Holy Spirit being poured out. That was the connection Peter was giving to the people. Otherwise he would be a false prophet because the moon did not turn red or the sun darkened. God’s Spirit was being poured out on those in Israel to those who called upon him, this is the Scriptures intent that he was pointing to.

The Greek word skotos-1) darkness: a) used of night darkness. If the sun is not darkened along with the moon then it is not a fulfilled scripture. In other words one cannot separate the two that happen simultaneously

There are just a few places where Scripture it tells us the moon will be red or like blood, most say it turns dark, it will not give its light. What the Scripture says will happen and what these prophetic teachers are saying are different than the Scripture. It is not the same.

Notice what Joel 2:10-11 states before Joel 3 which Peter quoted “The earth quakes before them, the heavens tremble; the sun and moon grow dark, and the stars diminish their brightness. The LORD gives voice before His army, for His camp is very great; for strong is the One who executes His word. For the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; who can endure it?”

Notice it says the Day of the Lord- which is the Tribulation period. So we have certain qualifications for this event to be fulfilled.

When is this to take place? TIMING is everything with God.

The conditions for the blood moon (which is singular) takes place near the ending of the seven-year Tribulation period: “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken ” (Matthew:24:29) “I beheld when he had broken the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of the heaven fell unto the earth” (Revelation:6:12-13)

Now we have another qualification - a great earthquake (not a medium sized one) occurs first. The sky is seen over JERUSALEM filled with smoke and vapor. Fiery eruptions probably accompany the earthquake. As Peter also refers to Acts 2:19 blood and fire and billows of smoke go up in the sky by fiery eruptions that accompany the great earthquake.

According to the Bible the “blood moon[s?]” verse takes place during the Great Tribulation. We are told by several prophet/seers the year referred to is 2014- 2015. Then we have been in the Tribulation for over 6 years (and by now it is nearly ended which is when Christ comes). Now what about all the other scriptures that are supposed to have happened in the Tribulation? Do they all become negated because of this verse that these end time prophet teachers want to make happen? We are not to use alphabet soup to get messages of prophecy. Words from the Scripture must be read CAREFULLY and put against other Scriptures that speak of the same event or time period to come to the right conclusion.

Acts 2:20 Isa 60:20; Jer. 15:9; Ezek 32:7; Amos 8:9; Rev 6:12; 8:12; 9:2; 16:8. when the sun is darkened, or turned into darkness, is often connected to calamity. The smoke can be of a catastrophe of nature or burning cities smoke rising that obscures the light of both day and night. It can be something God does supernaturally. What we do know is that it is connected to the second coming which the bible repeat over and over will take place in darkness. As the sign of the son of man is seen in the heavens by all (his glory) when he returns with all the Saints to end the Tribulation at Megiddo (Harmegeddon).

Joel 3:14-16 “Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. The sun and moon will grow dark, and the stars will diminish their brightness. The LORD also will roar from Zion, and utter His voice from Jerusalem; the heavens and earth will shake; but the LORD will be a shelter for His people, and the strength of the children of Israel.”

Isa 13:9-13Behold, the day of the LORD comes, cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate; and He will destroy its sinners from it. For the stars of heaven and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon will not cause its light to shine. "I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

Matt 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” Meaning after it has begun (not before) these signs will occur.

Isa 24:21-23 “It shall come to pass in that day that the LORD will punish on high the host of exalted ones, and on the earth the kings of the earth. They will be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and will be shut up in the prison; after many days they will be punished. Then the moon will be disgraced and the sun ashamed; for the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem and before His elders, gloriously.” (this is what Mt.25 is, dividing the sheep from the goats)

Acts 2:18-20 “And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.”

Vs. 2:21 Peter sums it up “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.' Who is he speaking to? Those in Jerusalem which whom Joel also point to as the place of occurrence. Joel 2:32 “For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the remnant whom the LORD calls.

The Spirit is poured out on those whom the Lord chose to be servants. They will prophesy, more than likely the coming of the Lord.

The blood moon[s] being taught today is not the same as the Bible's interpretation. For we see it speaks of the moon also being darkened like the sun. It is a blood moon, singular, as it first occurs and then is darkened. The moon turning red stays dark, not turns red for a night; it is a singular event.

This takes place in the tribulation period near the end. It is associated with the Spirit poured out on Israel to be saved (so other scriptures are fulfilled). One must concede we have been in the tribulation for several years to claim this is actually happening now. Where’s all the Bible prophecies that accompany it being fulfilled. It does not make sense in any shape or form how they present it. One does not have to make up prophecies to be a false prophet, they can misapply the prophetic word and say this is fulfilled and be wrong as well.

Let this be a lesson to those who look for signs and want to see fulfillment of the end by every unusual event. Scripture must be fulfilled to the letter, specifically in word, in the way it is written and in timing. For to believe otherwise means you are being misled.
