Do you notice what is being said?

Why do so many not notice false doctrine is being taught to them?

It was John who was joyful that the church walked in truth

3 John 3-4 “ For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”

As he previously stated “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free ." (John 8:32)

46 times John mentions the truth in his gospel and epistles.

So how does one not see what some people teach as being wrong?

They are not siphoning it by the Word. They are not going to the Scripture to see if what is being presented is correct. This encompasses carefully hearing what is actually being said and not being convinced by a multitude of words to alter the meaning.

The Holy Spirit is with the Believer to teach them truth from error but he does not force anyone to change their thinking; he prompts them. Some people call it a check in their spirit.

Then there are those who speak out on certain teachers and teachings that are wrong but their bravado is offensive to so to those in error. Not understanding that they would be (and are) being offended by Jesus and the apostles.

If you love what is true, what is good and right you will fight for it, stand up when falsehood presents itself. We have no other choice.

Only when we discern what is the truth from error can we honestly state that we are being “fellow workers for the truth” (3 John 8)

We are told “no lie is of the truth” (1 Jn.2:21). Being on the side of truth takes constant vigilance, training to ask the right questions so one avoids the mistakes, the pitfalls that can shipwreck them. When one sees what they believed was wrong and chooses the Words of Scripture in its context over it and they decide to separate from what was misleading them, then and only then will they be set free from the truth to walk on the narrow road.
