The universal God of the nations
One God by many names.
Various nations claim a supreme God, but many have him accompanied with
other gods. This is called Henotheism—one superior God over the others.
If all these cultures had a supreme God and he is the same then why is He not described the same as
the God in the Bible? Why are there differences in their stories (legends)?
The historical evidence shows the majority believed in a supreme God did
not mean Creator of both the heavens and the earth (all the creation that
exists, seen and unseen). This is proven by the r fact that they also had a
sun god, a moon god, and other gods named after the planets and stars and
nature.
Just because certain people groups have recorded stories about a supreme
god does not mean he is the same God presented in the Bible, nor does it
mean they worshipped God correctly as Israel. God did not give Israel one
way and another way to the nations. This new evangelization is ignoring
what the Bible has to say
1 Cor .8:5-6 “
For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as
there are many gods and many lords), yet for us there is one God, the
Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus
Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
’
Though he may be called god by others, Paul is stating he is not. If the
revelation, communication from these gods though their priests and prophets
are not the same of the bible then he is not the same God.
