P2 Kenneth Copeland's teachings from Demonic influences While Copeland states Jesus did not say he is God or come to earth as God, apparently Copeland says of himself that he is equal with God. “And I say this with all respect so that it don't upset you too bad, but I say it anyway. When I read in the Bible where He says I AM, I just smile and say, 'Yes, I AM too.'" (Believer’s Voice of Victory Broadcast, 7/9/1987). I AM is Gods eternal name to say this of oneself as he says this of himself is blasphemy. Copeland actually recommends "Pray to yourself, because I'm in your self and you're in My self. We are one Spirit, saith the Lord." ("Believer's Voice of Victory", Feb. 1987, p.9) Where does the Bible teach this is a way to pray? Who is Jesus to Kenneth Copeland? “The Spirit of God spoke to me, and He said Son, realize this Now follow me in this, don't let your tradition trip you up. He said Think this way. A twice-born man whipped Satan in his own domain. And I threw my Bible... I said What? He said A born-again man defeated Satan - the first-born of many brethren defeated him. He said You are the very image, and the very copy of that one. I said Goodness Gracious, saints alive. I began to see what had gone on in there, and I said “Well you don’t mean - You couldn't dare mean that I could have done the same thing? He said Oh yeah. If you'd had the knowledge of the Word of God that He did you could've done the same thing cause you're a re-born man too . (Substitution and Identification 1989, audio tape #00-0202, side 2) So Copeland could have done what Jesus did by only increasing his knowledge. This shows us what his real thoughts are on who Jesus actually is. It’s not tradition that has tripped him up but heresy from a deceiving Spirit. Jesus was not twice born, so whatever spirit is speaking is a liar. Copeland makes us equal with God which is a description in Philip.2:4-8 of Jesus only. And this emphasizes that “ Now he said in John 3:5, verily I say unto you except a man be born of water and of the spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Now when you study that out about the kingdom of God, it means he cannot enter into the way God does things. The way God does things is in his word, in the anointing and, that’s really what being connected to the supernatural is all about.” (tape on file) Is that what born again means? It does to Copeland. To copy God to produce supernatural things. Does God do things in the anointing? Which is a word used for the Holy Spirit being with and empowering humanity? This is completely a wrong definition and application.
“The Spirit of God said, saith like this: you continue in me you be my disciple, you discipline your thinking into what I’m telling you and you’ll know the truth. Now listen here is what he said say, and the truth will make you just as free as I am. You see we never knew it was the truth that made him free in the first place. That’s where the problem came, religion never bothered to share that with us. It was like he was privileged, he was privileged. “WHY YES THAT’S THE SON OF GOD. Well what manner of love is this that we should be called the Sons of God, Halleluya. As he is SO ARE WE in this world! ” (tape on file) Is that what Jesus said? He was God, free from sin, he was the truth by nature, not by learning it. Jesus went through every sin on earth to redeem you "Let me tell you something folks. Anybody in here that's ever been sexually abused, listen to me right now. Listen to me very carefully. The bible's very careful about the way it says these things. But down there in that dungeon, Romans, ungodly men, ungodly men, put him (Jesus) to every kind of abuse that you can think of. There is no sin that Jesus didn't bare. There is no thing, there is no such thing as a sexual abuse on somebody that Jesus doesn't know first hand what it's all about. He's been where you are, I don't care what you've been through, Jesus has been through it. And everything's done to him that we couldn't even speak of" [The Resurrection Truth, audiotape.] Jesus did not have sexual abuse, this is blasphemy. Spiritual war of words in hell Kenneth Copeland: "He [Lucifer or Satan] tried to use the power of words against God.... At that point, their words clashed and God's Word-the Word of a free Spirit, a Spirit with authority-reigned in victory over the word of an angelic power." (The Power of the Tongue Fort Worth-TN. KCP Publications, 1980 p. 6-7.) His crucifixion] This fantasy teaching supposedly took place when Jesus was in hell. "Satan conquered Jesus on the Cross and took His spirit to the dark regions of hell" (Kenneth Copeland, Holy Bible: Kenneth Copeland Reference Edition 1991, 129.) Scripture reference- NONE! He explains “The day that Jesus was crucified, God's life, that eternal energy ... moved out of Him and He allowed the devil to drag him into the depths of hell as if He were the most wicked sinner who ever lived...[and ]to come under satan's control ... [or]His body would have never died. ... For three days ... every demon in hell came down on Him to annihilate Him.... tortured him beyond anything that has ever been conceived.... In a thunder of spiritual force, the voice of God spoke to the death-whipped, broken, punished spirit of Jesus... God's Word … charged the spirit of Jesus with resurrection power! Suddenly His twisted, death-wracked spirit began to fill out and come back to life. ... He was literally being reborn before the devil's very eyes.... Before His body even had time to decay... Jesus Christ dragged Satan up and down the halls of hell. ... The day I realized that a born-again man had defeated Satan, hell, and death, I got so excited! Exactly where is this in the Bible? Fantasy teaching excites him. He [Satan] murdered Jesus to annihilate him...( September, 1991, Believer's Voice of Victory) "For three days He suffered everything there is to suffer. Some people don't want to believe that. They want to believe that after His death, Jesus just stayed in that upper region of Sheol that the Bible calls paradise, but they're mistaken! If He had simply stayed there, there would have been no price paid for sin." (Believer's Voice of Victory, Vol. 19, No. 9, Sept. 1991) Paradise was to the side of those being faithful when one goes Hades they are on the opposite side. Copeland’s gospel When the gospel message is misplaced or distorted it brings nothing to the believer, it misleads them. This is exactly what Copeland is teaching, words that bring nothing. Jesus had to "accept the sin nature of Satan." (Kenneth Copeland, What Happened from the Cross to the Throne, side 2.) Says who? Not the Bible that says 1 John 3:5 and in Him there is no sin. Heb. 9:26 “ He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” A sinful sacrifice cannot put away sin nor redeem us. The Bible tells us “ the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7) Which cannot be so if he became sinful sacrifice as Copeland teaches. Copeland teaches these doctrines from his fallen heart, not the Bible … "Jesus death on the cross was not enough to save us." (What Happened From the Cross to the Throne, Tape #00-0303), (Believer's Voice of Victory, September 1991), (Doctrinal Statement dated March 12, 1979) Of course we know what this means, he went to hell to suffer under Satan and his demons. however the Bible says it was enough to save us, this means Copeland's Word teaching is faudalent. " The death of Jesus Christ was not a physical death alone. If it had been a physical death, Abel would have paid the price for mankind… If it had been a physical death only, it wouldn't have worked! And if He hadn't died spiritually, that body never would have died." (What Happened From the Cross to the Throne, Tape #00-0303) A reminder of what God spoke which is the very opposite “He said Oh yeah. If you'd had the knowledge of the Word of God that He did you could've done the same thing cause you're a re-born man too.” (Substitution and Identification 1989, audio tape #00-0202, side 2) Speaking like his mentor Hagin “it wasn't the physical death on the cross that paid the price for sin because if it had been, any prophet of God that had died for the last couple of thousand years before that could have paid that price. It wasn't physical death, anybody could do that. " (Kenneth Copeland, "What Satan Saw on the Day of Pentecost" (Kenneth Copeland Ministries, audio tape #020022) This heresy is repeated by Copeland through the years of his word faith “ministry.” “ When Jesus cried, ‘It is finished!’ He was not speaking of the plan of redemption. There were still three days and nights to go through before He went to the throne...Jesus’ death on the cross was only the beginning of the complete work of redemption ” (“Jesus - Our Lord of Glory”, Believers Voice of Victory, April 1982) “Every prophet that walked the face of the earth under the Abrahamic covenant could have paid the price if it were a physical death only” “When he said ‘It is finished’ on that cross, he was not speaking of the plan of redemption. The plan of redemption had just begun, there were still three days and three nights to be gone through.” “[Jesus] accepted the sin nature of Satan in His own Spirit, and at the moment that He did so, He cried ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’.” “He [Jesus] was down in that pit and there he suffered the punishment for three horrible days and nights for Adam’s treason... There is a new birth takes place in the very depths of the earth” (What Happened from the Cross to the Throne) “ When He said ‘It is finished’ on that cross, He was not speaking of the plan of redemption. The plan of redemption had just begun, there were still three days and three nights to be gone through...[Jesus] accepted the sin nature of Satan in His own Spirit, and at the moment that He did so, He cried ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? He [Jesus] was down in that pit and there he suffered the punishment for three horrible days and nights for Adam’s treason. There is a new birth takes place in the very depths of the earth, (“What Happened From the Cross to the Throne?” 1990, tape #02- 0017, side 2) Finish to Copeland means " The plan of redemption BEGAN when Jesus said "It is FINISHED." (Classic Redemption, p.13) So finished means beginning? What of when Jesus said my God… why have you forsaken me? Because his fellowship was broken, however, when He said it is finished it reversed what he was under as he carried our sins. He said "It is finished," not, it continues! (continuing in hell with demons who take part of our redeeming process). The Greek word for this term is tetelestai, which means it is paid; the debt has been completely paid in full. There is nothing else to be done. Mr. Copeland seemed to have overlook on purpose where Scripture says in John 19:30 “And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” Luke 23:46-47 gives us further detail of what transpired in these last moments. “And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, "Father, 'into Your hands I commit My spirit.' "Having said this, He breathed His last.” What took place prior of Jesus being forsaken was no longer in effect, their relationship was healed as his spirit was committed into the Fathers hands, not the Devils. Otherwise Jesus is made into a liar. This man is simply one of the worst Bible teachers there is. Mr. Copeland has not changed his teaching in over 40-50 years on these blatant and obvious false doctrines. He should be avoided if one wants to be sound in their Bible interpretations and live with salvation from their savior.
