Pt.3 the Powers of the divine blood over all things

Anyone who has heard Angley has heard him preach about the blood, but what does he REALLY mean? Angley expands his teaching on Jesus' blood in numerous areas. He attributes the blood as the power in Jesus’ life, calling it “blood control.” As a human being He had control over divine blood, and He used it.  He used it to destroy sin, to bring people into the Kingdom of God” (April 2006 Issue “the divine blood of Jesus controls” By Ernest Angley)

So it was because of his blood he was able to do his mission before he died. Angley further explains:

He had the flesh of a human being, but the blood of divinity. Believe in the powers that are in His blood, that it is divine blood” (The Powers In The Blood By Ernest Angley Vol.7 the Mysteries of God)

According to Angley it is the blood that gave Jesus his wisdom. “At the age of twelve, Jesus had all the answers. Through divine blood He answered the questions of every doctor, every lawyer who talked with Him in the temple that day” (The Blood Of Jesus Is Our Possession By Ernest Angley Vol.18 the Mysteries of God).

Angley claims it was the blood not the Spirit of God or his communion with the Father that gave Jesus his wisdom- where is this in Scripture? He further states, The truth in the blood gives the mind of Christ.” This is because the blood preexisted, it came from heaven.

Angley reinterprets the meaning of many Scriptures, rearranging their meaning to correlate to the blood. For example, believing on him (Jesus) as believing in his blood, he cites John 3:16: “Whosoever believeth in His blood shall not perish. Those who believed Jesus came down from heaven got results when He was here because they knew He had divine blood, believed He was born of a virgin. He had the flesh of a human being, but the blood of divinity. Believe in the powers that are in His blood, that it is divine blood (The Powers In The Blood By Ernest Angley) [underline mine]

Whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Believeth in what? In the divine shed blood of Jesus, believeth that He was born of the virgin Mary. You can't believeth in the Son without believing in His divine blood; it's impossible. There is no life outside the blood” (The Results Of The Jesus Blood Test By Ernest Angley).

It appears there may be more than even Angley is saying to the blood concept he holds. Apparently Angley does not have exclusive rights to this aberrant teaching on Jesus, it is promoted by those in the Pentecostal movement and those who are word faith.

There are others that believe Jesus’ blood is divine.

"the old rugged cross, stained with Blood so divine, “ (The Basis Of Fellowship Branham) “His Blood was Divine” (The Seven Church Ages, Branham Tabernacle, Jeffersonville, IN) “Every one of us, every prophet, every great man was human blood. But this Man had Divine Blood. God Himself created the Blood cell.” (Law Or Grace, Branham Tabernacle, Jeffersonville, IN). “He was God, and His Blood was Divine. Almighty God overshadowed the virgin Mary and created the Blood cell in her womb that brought forth the Son, Christ Jesus. And God condescended and lived in that body” (The Seven Church Ages Branham Tabernacle, Jeffersonville, IN)

Even Branham does not go as far as Angley in describing where the blood came from, what it is and does.

The father of the word faith movement Kenneth Hagin “Even though Jesus was the Son of God, and divine blood flowed through His veins, yet He was ministering on the earth as a human being - a prophet anointed with the Holy Spirit” (Kenneth Hagin Hear and Be Healed, pp. 8, 13-14).

Jack van Impe “Christ had a body with divine blood prepared in the womb of a virgin so that He could shed that blood and die for the sins of the world. Because it had to be pure blood, free from the taint of Adam's sin, the body and blood were prepared by the Father and placed in the womb of the virgin” (A MESSAGE OF HOPE FROM DR. JACK VAN IMPE The Birth of the Eternal God Dec. 2, 08)

The concept of divine blood is held by many, however there are few that have made a new theological system of it like Angley has.

Much of this kind of teaching can be traced to modern Pentecostal preacher, H.A. Maxwell Whyte held a mystical view of Christ’s blood.  That “it was inconceivable that Mary could have supplied any of her Adamic blood for the spotless lamb of God” “All the childs blood came from His Father in heaven…” (p.16 H. A. Maxwell Whyte, The Power of the Blood (Springdale:  Whitaker House, 1973).

Whyte believed “Jesus’ blood was different” “if Jesus Blood could be kept in the blood banks of our hospitals? Do you not see that everyone who could obtain a transfusion of Christ's Blood would actually be receiving God's eternal life in pure Blood? ( H.A. Maxwell Whyte, The Power of the Blood (Springdale: Whitaker House, 1973), p. 18.

Angley has some of the very same concepts and words as Whyte: All Child's Blood came from His Father in heaven” (p.16 H.A. Maxwell Whyte, The Power of the Blood)

“When you put the Blood of Jesus on something by faith, Satan will flee because the Blood of Jesus is alive. The life is in the Blood”  (p.19 H.A. Maxwell Whyte, The Power of the Blood)

The Bride must be perfected with no spiritual, mental or physical sickness when the Bridegroom comes for her” (H.A. Maxwell Whyte, Christian Life, p. 39) (this is a latter rain teaching)

Whyte: “reckon by faith that the Blood of Jesus avails for your home and cattle, it will do so, and the angel of death will just as surely be kept away from you and yours!” (H.A. Maxwell Whyte, The Power of the Blood pp. 39-40.)

Whyte also held that “pleading of the Blood of Jesus” can prevent accidents and “prevents Satan from attacking us with germs.” (H.A. Maxwell Whyte, The Power of the Blood p. 53) The blood “must be taken and used to bring terror to the enemy.” (H.A. Maxwell Whyte, The Power of the Blood 58-59)

He mentions that the pleading of the Blood was an accepted revelation of the Spirit. In the early days of the Pentecostal outpouring. “It was around this same time that Mrs. Woodworth-Etter was holding her great meetings in Los Angeles and Chicago. She used to hold her arms aloft and say to the people, “I sprinkle the Blood of Jesus upon you,” and she made a motion with her hands as if she were actually doing it. People would come running to the front of the auditorium, and many fell prostrate, speaking in tongues and receiving healing. (p.88 the Power of the Blood)

The power in experience was its own proof to early Pentecostals. Holiness Pentecostals believed entire sanctification from Spirit-baptism followed because of the blood.

In Bill Ellis’ book Raising the Devil, Satanism, new religions and the media he speaks of Occult and folk religion researcher Kurt Koch who looked into the practices of Brauche, German magic folk healing. They would invoke names and powers to drive away demons. Koch notes that A. Maxwell Whyte came from a British family that was fascinated by fringe religion and the occult. “His mother was a follower of Joanna Southcott., the a nineteenth -century "female Christ" of Manchester” (p.23) many of his aunts and uncles were into the occult. White became a convert to Pentecostalism in 1939 “through a prayer group that and originally that traced its origins to Catherine Price’s 1907 London revival, which induced exorcism and glossolalia through “pleading the blood” (Keswick group). “The blood first functioned as an initiation into the Holy Spirit….” (Raising the Devil)

Whyte first published his book The Power of the Blood in 1959. In its foreword Whyte states “God has again revealed to Christians that they should plead the precious blood of Jesus.” It’s important to note that many of these same teachings are found in Angleys sermons as well.

Ellis’ book describes (theories) the theory and practice of pleading the blood to defeat demonic influences and gain spiritual power. We find from many who look at these practices from a Biblical view that they are more superstition than drawn from the Scripture.

Gwen Shaw of the cult group end time handmaidens has a similar belief, which makes me wonder if she got her teaching from the same source.

What type of blood flowed through [Jesus’] veins? Who did He say His father was?  He said ‘My father in heaven.’ He had the blood of His father flowing through His veins, the Blood of God…that same life-line that flowed in the first Adam, except that Jesus also had his mother’s blood type and she was of the line and lineage of David and Adam… ” (Love, the Law of the Angels, p. 112-13)

To Plead the Blood

Pentecostals today use the blood in unorthodox manners like sprinkling it over specific geographic areas to have people saved. Pleading the Blood to take demons captive or make demons and Satan flee. Joyce Meyer “If you are sick in your body, plead the blood over your body. The life is in the blood; it can drive out the death of sickness”

Maxwell Whyte stated that “pleading of the Blood of Jesus” can prevent accidents and “prevents Satan from attacking us with germs.”(H.A. Maxwell Whyte, The Power of the Blood, 1973), p. 53

Benny Hinn believes that applying the blood can stop demons (Benny Hinn, The Blood:  Its Power from Genesis to Jesus to You (Orlando:  Creation House, 1993), pp.57,73). It can provide a “hedge of protection,” (bid. p.67) and (using Job as an example) the blood is something that through prayer can be applied to one’s family. (ibid. p.68)

The Greek word for blood haima is used approximately 95 times in New Testament. Approximately 35 times refers to Jesus' blood. The phrase “plead the blood” nor the activity does not appear at all in Scripture. The word “plead” can be found 30 times but it is never in association with blood. Pleading the blood has no scriptural support, it is a Pentecostal tradition.

“You have heard the phrase: Plead the blood! Plead the blood! I've heard it all my life, but I never really met anyone who could explain it” (To Plead The Blood By Ernest Angley)

Angley does not explain it either because he cannot find Scripture to support it. So in the (neo) Pentecostal tradition he insists on using it to be victorious.

“To plead the blood simply means to use the blood, but to use it God's way only. You can't use the blood through your own opinions or the opinions of others; you must use it God's way” (How To Plead The Blood)

His qualifications are: If you are not completely holy, …you are not qualified to use the blood, to plead the blood” (ibid.)

To plead or use the blood, you have to believe it is divine blood one hundred percent, believe completely in the virgin birth, that no human blood is mixed in with divine blood (The Blood Of Jesus Is Our Possession By Ernest Angley [underline mine]

Angley “Plead for the cleansing. If others in your home are unclean, plead the blood over your home. Touch the pillows, the beds they sleep on, the chairs they sit in. Don't tell them, but use the blood power. Let the Holy Spirit work” (How To Plead The Blood By Ernest Angley)

We ourselves do not touch the blood. it is applied to our lives by the high priest who is Christ when we believe in faith to receive his Atonement for sin. We are not the high priest, there is only one- Jesus. We can’t put the blood on inanimate objects or people- there is no precedent for this in the New Testament. The blood is for sin, to restore our relationship to God, to allow the Holy Spirit to put us in Christ and continue to receive grace and cleansing from the Father and the Son.

Angley says correctly to love your enemies, pray for your enemies, but then he also says:If you can put a person who troubles you under the blood, you are free of that person.” (The Qualified Can Plead The Blood Of Jesus And Win  By Ernest Angley)

“Instead of worrying about your enemies, you put them under the blood; use the blood to cover them, and God's faith to keep them covered.” (How To Plead The Blood By Ernest Angley)

Now the holy blood of Jesus goes on enemies of God! Where’s that in the Bible? Is there any example of blood used in this way, not even in the Old Testament.

Angley has a mystical view on the blood and what it can do from healing despair, oppression, depression, sickness, disease- it becomes the cure all to everything (but not hair loss). Unfortunately this blood does not heal off doctrine about itself.

Jesus is our propitiation

The Passover motif had real blood from a lamb put on the door. An animal sacrifice had to die not just bleed. The idea is propitiation which is godward not to man. Its benefit is applied to man because God accepted it. When we confess to God our sin Jesus our high priest applies the blood that was shed at the crucifixion for our sin.

Rom. 3:25 “whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed”

Heb. 2:17 “that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.”

I Jn. 2:2 “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”

I Jn. 4:10 “that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

This act was done as a Propitiation to the Father 2,000 years ago and is still effective today ( Rom.3:25; Heb.2:17 1 Jn.2:2,4:10).Gr. hilasmos hilasterion means to expiate or appease. That Jesus satisfied the full demands of God’s righteousness and holiness and justice for his wrath in our place. The atonement was to make payment for our sins was unto God the Father. Propitiation for sins is always Godward. The Father accepted his payment, the death of his Son for our sins. It was between God the Father, and the God/man Christ Jesus. It applied to man because God accepted it. When we confess to God our sin Jesus our high priest applies the blood that was shed at the crucifixion for our sin.

the blood sacrifices were for sin:

Heb. 10:6 “In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you had no pleasure.

Heb. 10:18 “Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

Heb. 13:11 For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin

1 Cor. 15:3 that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures” Gal. 1:4: “who gave Himself for our sins

Many claim the blood provides protection for us. It reaches into the spiritual world protecting us from any harm.  It gives us healing, joy, peace and a host of other benefits (even success). The implication --that the blood of Jesus has spiritual life and power for more than just for our sin. Are there any biblical examples of this? Where did Paul or any apostle in the New Testament teach the believer to “plead the blood of Jesus,” that the spiritual blood of Jesus could cover them? There are no examples of pleading the blood of Jesus or using it in this manner in the New Testament. So why do it? People are convinced it is a religious practice that will give them power .

To a certain point what Angley says about blood is half right but the other half is very wrong. It becomes disturbing when he goes far beyond what is written attributing to the blood what the Bible does not, giving it activities and powers not mentioned in the Scripture.

The Altar of blood in heaven that brought redemption

“The blood spilled on Calvary didn't run into the ground; the Lord took all of it with Him, walked down the avenue of Glory and offered that blood on the altar of God” (The Blood Of Jesus Is Our Possession By Ernest Angley) [underline mine]

There was blood spilled from his whipping to his walking on the way to be crucified. When he was whipped did physical blood come out? What kind of blood did Jesus bleed if it is blood for his soul which is non physical? Can you prove this was not human blood, can you prove none of this stayed on earth. As Angley goes further into his teaching it goes further away from what the Bible actually teaches.

And at the crucifixion, that divine blood was taken back to heaven and offered up on the altar of God for our redemption (Our Redeemer Kinsman And The Seven-Sealed Book By Ernest Angley)

“For over thirty years Christ kept that holy blood here on earth, and then He carried it back to heaven, offered it on the altar of God for the redemption of all who would yield to it” (The Blood Of Jesus Is Our Possession By Ernest Angley)

Jesus said it is finished on the cross, then he died. Angley says it was not finished, that the blood had to go to heaven and be offered on its altar. All the apostles point to the cross for salvation. In direct contrast, Scripture states that Christ ascended into heaven as the Victorious Conqueror who had completed the work of redemption having “spoiled principalities and powers” through His death on the cross (Eph. 4:8; Col. 2:14, 15; Heb. 2:14, 15).  If the atonement was not completed on the cross, He could never have said it is finished. To finish the work of redemption elsewhere is to change the gospel.

So who spoke of this before Angley? None other than new thought teacher E.W. Kenyon, who writes, “When Christ carried His blood into the Holy of Holies and the Supreme Court of the Universe accepted it, Redemption was a completed thing” (E.W. Kenyon, New Creation Realities (Lynnwood:  Kenyon’s Gospel Publishing Society, 1945), p. 44.

Angley even speaks Saith the Lord on this doctrine “That blood is God-life, it's like God Himself. We'll have it for all eternity. Every drop of divine blood will remain on the altar of God, saith the Lord, as the endless ages roll. You will be able to go there and look at it, that divine blood that paved your way to glory, made you a new creation” (The Powers In The Blood By Ernest Angley).

For all time and eternity victorious blood will be on the altar of God (Purged Through The Blood By Ernest Angley).

If every drop is on the altar I’m wondering how it indwells our soul.  “we have divine blood in our souls” (The divine blood of Jesus controls April 2006 Issue). “no one can be saved without divine blood in their soul”  (Abide with me April 2009 Issue By Ernest Angley). “Without divine blood in your soul, you are without hope, without redemption, without salvation” (The Blood Of Jesus By Ernest Angley)

Angley’s own teaching is not consistent within itself. salvation -is divine blood in your soul

Jesus’ power came from the blood

Jesus used his own blood to do his miracles--

“Jesus used the blood continuously when He was here on earth. The blood operated in Him when He was a baby, a child, a teenager. He always had that divine blood. It wasn't something new after He was grown. But when He began His ministry, the blood went into operation for people. The blind received their sight, the deaf heard, sins were forgiven; it all came about through the blood. Faith in the blood, believing Jesus to be the Son of God born of a virgin is the reason people could be saved before He died on the cross. They were saved through faith in the divine blood in Jesus. Even before His blood ran out of His veins, there was power to forgive sins, just as much power” (The Blood Of Jesus By Ernest Angley) [underline mine]

Where does Jesus tell anyone to believe in his blood before he was crucified- he says to believe in him accept him as the Messiah (the son of God) - the one prophesied. Jesus had the power to forgive because of his blood? No, because he is God (Mk.2 even the Pharisees recognized this)

“But when He began His ministry, the blood went into operation for people. The blind received their sight, the deaf heard, sins were forgiven; it all came about through the blood (The Blood Of Jesus By Ernest Angley).

“Jesus, in controlling the divine blood in His life, would ask people, Wilt thou be made whole (John 5:6)” (The divine blood of Jesus controls April 2006 Issue).

According to Angley it was the power of the blood resident in Jesus that he did his works by- where is the Scripture for this; it never seems to be presented. Besides Jesus being God, the Bible says it was the Holy Spirit that empowered him, not the blood. Acts 10:37-38: “and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

This power is also promised to believers-Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,” not power from his blood in our soul but from God himself.

When Jesus returned to the throne of God, He had conquered through blood control.  As a human being He had control over divine blood, and He used it.” (April 2006 Issue “the divine blood of Jesus controls” By Ernest Angley)

Angley attributes supernatural powers to the blood that the Bible does not. Jesus’ life and power was not from the blood but the Spirit that was upon him and who He is (God in the flesh 1 Tim. 3:16). Jesus was the Son of God in heaven before he took on flesh. Who Jesus is becomes diminished in Angleys theology, subservient to the blood that was produced in him.

With His divine blood, Jesus could have lived on earth all these years had He not given His life on the cross” (The Blood Of Jesus By Ernest Angley) “Divine blood has the Resurrection power” (The Results Of The Jesus Blood Test By Ernest Angley)

Jesus was not dependent on his blood for power but God the Father whom he submitted to. Being the Son of God- he controlled his human flesh. Jesus was resurrected by God, not blood.

The divine blood of Jesus is so strong that He could conquer death” quoting John 10:17, 18. Jesus gave His life's blood; man couldn't take it from Him. Leaving His divine life in heaven with the Father, Jesus went to Calvary so we could have divine life eternally (The Blood Of Jesus By Ernest Angley)

This makes no sense. Angley is saying that the blood is what makes Jesus divine because he left his divine life in heaven. Then who came from heaven if not God? His blood? Who died for our sin? According to Angley the blood is the divine life, but he didn’t leave that in heaven did he? It becomes very confusing when one departs from the true meaning of the word. One must decide which view they will accept-- Angleys or the Bibles.

“Without the blood, the power would be missing from the Word. The power is in the blood” (How To Plead The Blood By Ernest Angley)

Jesus said “my words are spirit and they are life”, the power is in the Spirit of God; the blood is a separate component for a different use.

Adam and Eve were divine

Although man and woman in Eden were created out of the dust of the earth, they were given divine blood.  Never were they to have been sick, never were their bodies to have decayed, for never were they to have died.  This meant they could not have had physical blood; only divine blood could have kept them alive throughout the ages.  …  Man and woman lost divine blood, and it was replaced with physical blood.  With physical blood, sickness came, death.  Now it would take the divine blood that only Jesus could bring to heal all manner of sicknesses and diseases.” (April 2006 Issue “the divine blood of Jesus controls” By Ernest Angley)

According to Angley Adam and Eve would be like Jesus if they did not sin. But they were not deity, they were human, god made them. Jesus the Son was not made, he was God who made them. The reason they were divine- they had divine blood, the same blood that came from heaven for Jesus. Angley believes Adam and Eve had the same divine blood in them that Jesus had, until... “After the curse of sin entered, their destiny was different.  Man and woman lost divine blood, and it was replaced with physical blood.  With physical blood, sickness came, death.  Now it would take the divine blood that only Jesus could bring to heal all manner of sicknesses and diseases” (The divine blood of Jesus controls April 2006 Issue By Ernest Angley)

Adam and Eve did not get blood-poisoning when they sinned. Physical blood is not the carrier of our spiritual life but our physical life. Lev. 17:11. There is no way to prove they had this divine blood or the substance of blood changed or was replaced. Its pure imagination.

Adam and Eve had the divine nature until they lost the truth. When you lose the truth, you have lost the divine nature. Divine truth is in the divine blood from heaven” (How To Plead The Blood By Ernest Angley Volume 21 The Mysteries of God) even the truth Angley finds in this blood.

What was this divine nature in Adam and Eve? It is the blood which gave them divinity and this blood came from heaven. “Before the fall, they were sinless; they had the power of divine blood within them, the divine nature of God in their hearts and souls. We are made to be partakers of the Lord's divine nature through the blood “ (The Blood Of Jesus By Ernest Angley).

“The minds of Adam and Eve were given by divinity, operated by divinity in the perfection of God's love and grace.  Divine blood was theirs in the beginning; divinity was theirs, and sickness couldn't take them over.  When Adam and Eve sinned, they lost the protection of divine blood, and that loss allowed disease and sickness to enter the human race”  (Embracing and Clinging to the Cross December 2002 Issue by Ernest Angley)

How can a creature be divine which is a property of God alone. How does divinity sin?

Speaking of Adam and Eve “The divine nature of God was in them in the beginning; it had been created in them. That divine nature was really the divine blood, but it had not been offered as a sacrifice at that time. Adam and Eve had all the benefits of the divine blood that we have, but they lost them; their sins had separated them from God” (The Powers In The Blood By Ernest Angley)

According to Angley both Adam and Eve had the same blood Jesus would have. If Adam and Eve were divine as Jesus was divine then Adam (or Eve) could have died for sin if they did not sin. But the whole gospel is centered around the “who” that died for sin. That God himself came from heaven.

2 Cor 5:19 “that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself.” Col.2:9 “For in him dwells (lives) the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (bodily form).

Adam could not be called Immanuel," "God with us." (Matthew 1:23). Adam was not from above, from heaven as the Son of God was. Rom 9:5 “according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God.”

Without God being incarnate the benefits of the sacrifice could not be applied to all people of all time.

It’s hard to know whether Angley holds the view that Adam was God like Jesus was God or only his blood is godlike, as he does not further explain this.

What we do know- according to Angley Jesus did not have physical blood (that came after the fall), but there is no such thing as spiritual blood in the Bible. A spear was thrust in Jesus side after death and water and blood came out- they saw it. It showed a ruptured heart. If the life of the flesh is in the blood then the same blood is not spirit or a non physical property. How does divine non physical blood change to human blood? There are no explanations for these statements. It is preposterous to come to the conclusions Angley does unless one has the intentions of making himself unique. He then removes himself  from the teaching in Scripture. To have this divine blood like Jesus, according the Angley would mean Adam is not fully human as Jesus was not fully human. This gets even more involved as we go deeper into his theology.

Divine blood in you

Angley believes that by asking Jesus in your heart the divine blood (some spiritual substance) actually becomes part of you. He quotes II Peter 1:4 by grace you're made a partaker of His divine nature, His divine blood” (Grace and truth April 2003 Issue by Ernest Angley)

It not the blood that has us partake of the divine nature but the Holy Spirit, this is how we are put in Christ 1 Cor12:13. The divine nature of Jesus is not his blood that indwells believers. The one who dwells in us is the Spirit, nowhere does the Bible teach his blood dwells in us.

“Since God cannot look upon sin of any kind, the fallen nature that has been in man's bloodline since the fall in Eden had to be changed. That change could be made only when Jesus imparted His sinless blood into the life stream of man. Jesus—Divinity—became related to the human race in order to replace that fallen nature with His sinless blood, making those born new in His blood acceptable to the Father. When He now looks at the born-new Christians, He no longer sees the fallen nature they were born with, but He sees Christ. Christ has been imparted into accepting hearts” (The Glorious Church is a sinless, fasting, praying, Word of God Church Behold The Glorious Church! By Ernest Angley)

According to this explanation we would no longer have physical blood (in keeping with to Angleys dynamic theology). Our fallen nature is not replaced by sinless blood, we are given a new spirit that regenerates the fallen spirit of man which restores our fellowship with God, We do not have his blood circulating in our soul or body. True, God looks at us through his sons blood but not because its in our bloodstream. This is Star Trek theology.

You have divinity on the inside when you have the blood; you are a partaker of divinity. Without the blood you cannot be a partaker of divinity. From the soul the Holy Spirit flows divinity—that which is holy, that which is truth, that which is of God—into your mind for you to use. … if you have that divine blood, you have divinity working on the inside of you, the righteousness and the holiness of God.” (The Blood Of Jesus By Ernest Angley)

His divine nature means that divine blood is within.  You who are born again have had a blood transfusion; divine blood flows in your veins as well as human blood.  It's wonderful when you know that you are a partaker of the divine blood that flowed in Jesus, that His divine blood is now a part of you!” (Divine Healing through the Blood of Jesus February 1996 Issue By Ernest Angley)

You who are born again have had a blood transfusion; divine blood flows in your veins as well as human blood.  It's wonderful when you know that you are a partaker of the divine blood that flowed in Jesus, that His divine blood is now a part of you!” (Divine Healing through the Blood of Jesus February 1996 Issue)

“You are not a son or daughter of God unless you have the blood, the 1divine blood in your soul” (Purged Through The Blood By Ernest Angley) “Yield to the faith in the divine blood in your soul. Don't think you don't have enough faith; the blood has enough faith. Just yield to the blood.”(How To Plead The Blood By Ernest Angley) “If you have salvation, you have divine blood in your soul” (The Miracles in the Blood of Jesus April 1998 Issue) “you become spiritually dead when you cut off the flow of divine blood in your soul. The life is in the blood” (ibid.)

Angley gives no explanation of how the blood becomes part of your soul “Recognize and accept in your heart what is in the blood so you can meet the Spirit of the blood with the Holy Spirit in your heart” (Divine Healing through the Blood of Jesus February 1996 Issue)

Apparently the Holy Spirit has blood and this is how it gets in your soul. There is no circulation for blood in the soul. We do not have a spiritual substance called the blood of Jesus in our veins or in our soul but he believes and teaches this and if you don’t believe it you are not a Christian. He insists -John 6:53,54 The blood is in you when you are born again” (April 2006 Issue the divine blood of Jesus controls By Ernest Angley)

There is no such teaching about the blood in the soul. He even says “take on His blood, clothe yourself in the blood.” When the Bible says to clothe yourself with Christ to put on Christ.

Angley says “The Lord has made it possible for you to control the blood, to use it just like Jesus used it.”(April 2006 Issue “the divine blood of Jesus controls” By Ernest Angley) Angley insists that: “You cannot use the blood until it is inside you; this happens when you are born again, when you ask Jesus into your heart.” The Qualified Can Plead The Blood Of Jesus And Win By Ernest Angley)

Nowhere does the Bible teach the blood of Jesus is inside you or you have a nature change of human blood to divine blood, this sounds strange, mystical, even occultic.

Angley explains, “From a spiritual and from a physical standpoint, the life is in the blood. The body must have blood, and the soul can't live without spiritual blood, divine blood. Only spiritual death, eternal damnation, awaits the soul without the life that's in the divine blood of Jesus. Nothing can wash away your sins and take you to heaven but the divine blood of Jesus.” (The Results Of The Jesus Blood Test By Ernest Angley)

Angley is constantly repeating the life is in the blood; this is inaccurate. The Bible says the life of the flesh is in the blood; that is literal physical blood. Nowhere does the Bible teach the soul needs divine blood. This special revelation not only goes beyond the words of Holy writ but teaches contrary to what the blood of Jesus is for.

The Bible says “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men”  (John 1:4). Angley says in him-  the life is the blood.

1 Jn. 1:2 “the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us.” That eternal life was NOT the blood. “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; (Col 2:9) which means all that makes God who he is, all his attributes, characteristics and nature. If one wants to hold to Angley's teaching, that God’s life is blood they have to change numerous scriptures about the nature of God.

Life of the flesh is in the blood- life of the Spirit is in the Son (Gal.2:20). The life of God is Spirit, not blood.

Angley concludes one of his messages with “If you don't have that divine blood in your soul, pray this prayer: “…I believe in the blood of Jesus, and I know there's power in the blood to wash away all my sins.  Come into my heart, Jesus!  Come on in! If you meant that prayer, if you really accepted the blood, the Lord has moved in. (God beyond” December 2005 Issue By Ernest Angley)

This by itself sounds orthodox until you know what is behind his teaching.

Lets sum this up: your soul needs blood like the body needs blood. Divine blood flows in your veins as well as human blood, that’s where your soul is. The blood is of no use until it’s in you like it was in Jesus. Imparting his blood gives us his divinity (another word for deity, which Angley rarely uses). This is how we partake of the divine nature-through his blood, that we have the ability to control this blood for whatever we need.

This confusion is complicated by Angley saying the right things at times; it is when he goes deeper into his explanations that his actual beliefs become apparent.

The apostles used the blood to heal and so does Angley

Acts 3:6-8 where Peter at the Gate beautiful says Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk” Angley states. ” Peter proved he had the blood when he said, “Such as I have give I thee.”  He now had divine blood control just like the Master.  The divine blood heals all afflictions and all diseases (The divine blood of Jesus controls April 2006 Issue By Ernest Angley)

Yes, the devils have to bow to the divine blood. They bowed to it when Jesus was here, crying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time (Matthew 8:29)? They begged to go into the swine, to get away from the blood they knew to be their destruction. (The Qualified Can Plead The Blood Of Jesus And Win By Ernest Angley)

They devils wanted to go in the swine had nothing to do with the blood of Jesus but because of who he is (God). They welcomed this instead of being judged.

Referring to Acts 5:15 “They were not healed by the shadow; a shadow can't heal; it simply is a point of contact.  The people were healed by the blood anointing of God that touched those people, and what a mighty touch it was” (The divine blood of Jesus controls April 2006 Issue By Ernest Angley)

Can anyone find where a blood anointing is taught?! Everything has blood according to Angley. The blood is even found retro“Elijah had control of the blood and people were healed, delivered, even raised from the dead.” (The divine blood of Jesus controls April 2006 Issue By Ernest Angley).

Elijah had control of Jesus’ blood in him? How is this possible when Jesus was no man yet and the blood of Jesus was not shed yet? That’s a miracle likened to his virgin birth.

“Plead the blood,” and demons have to go, Angley casts those devils out by the power in the blood of Jesus. “The Lord taught me to use the divine blood” “We speak through the blood and devils have to bow; the power goes out of them and they have no control whatsoever” (God beyond” Dec. 2005 Issue By Ernest Angley).

Angley says it is the blood but the Bible says “He that is in you is greater than he who is in the world. The HE is not the blood but the Holy Spirit. Angley is focusing on the wrong thing for power.

Angley says,The blood using my voice called, “Thou foul devils, come out! Come out in the name of Jesus!” The devils had to move at the power of that blood name. They lost their power; they had no strength. They had to come out. I marvel at the way the devils fear the blood.” (How To Plead The Blood By Ernest Angley)

Did Jesus or any apostle use blood to exorcise demons? I know this is a popular trend by mystical spiritual warfare promoters but can anyone find one example of this?

We need to pause and ask a few questions- where did Jesus say to use the blood like this? Did not the demons respond “we know who you are” in fear of Him.

Angley believes that the power to heal is by using the blood “I speak through the blood and the blind receive sight, the deaf, hearing, the crippled are delivered.  People are healed of all manner of sicknesses and diseases.”  I use the blood. …  I have been given control over the blood, control to use divine blood love, grace, peace, and control to serve it to others.  I love the blood!” “Every devil that is cast out is through the blood of Jesus.  I control the blood; I use it against the enemyI control the blood and I use it in my mind, in my voice, in my hands” (April 2006 Issue “the divine blood of Jesus controls” By Ernest Angley)

Where does the Bible teach we have control over the blood Jesus shed on the cross for our SINS?

“The name of Jesus must be used in the power of the blood.  You can say, “Jesus, Jesus,” all day long and still have demons around you.  But when you say, “In the blood name of Jesus!” with the faith of God and not your wavering human faith, the demons flee.” (Embracing and clinging to the cross December 2002 Issue by Ernest Angley)

And exactly where does it say this in the Bible? So one must say these exact words; the name of Jesus is not powerful enough, even though the Bible says it is. The name we call upon to be saved and delivered (Rom.10).

Angley may not be making up his theology from thin air (new revelation) like some other Pentecostals but he is expanding the meaning of the scripture to become new revelation. Angley presents two streams of doctrine- the one Christians believe and the one he has invented that goes beyond the Scriptures -- that has no connection to the true doctrine of the blood (etc.).

Strange teachings on the blood

Angley says “What the Lord explains to me He verifies with the Word of God; it's in the Bible.” Is it? Or is it his peculiar interpretation, expanding on the Scripture to the point that it has a different meaning?

Citing Romans 13:1,2 on being subject to government Angley says. “Those higher powers reside in the blood of Jesus and are directed by God.”

“When you get to heaven, you will see that blood. Probably one of the first things all of our loved ones have done who have gone on before us was to kneel at that altar with its divine blood. It must be the most sacred, wonderful place in heaven. All the blood Jesus shed on Calvary is there, eternal like God Himself, like Jesus.” (The Blood Of Jesus By Ernest Angley)

I can only wonder what Scripture can be cited to prove this, this is a vivid imagination hard at work.

“Your miracle comes through the blood of Jesus. With his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). The blood was shed at the whipping post, miracle blood, healing blood, blood with all power. The blood of Jesus can defeat all the enemies of God. It's blood full of mercy, compassion and filled with the peace of heaven.” “All the truth of God is in the blood” (The Powers In The Blood By Ernest Angley)

Many people make the mistake of interpreting stripes as to when he was whipped, the word is actually stripe singular ,referring to what happened on the cross. 1 Peter (1:24), when quoting Isaiah’s passage (53:5) on whose stripes you were healed refers back to “Who himself bore our sins. The stripe is the crucifixion- the cross not his whippings. The blood is shed for sin. The whipping and punching were from man and his blood shed had no spiritual value until he was on the altar where God put our sins on him- when the skies darkened and he was forsaken by the Father because he carried our sins.

Statements like these are wrong:

Citing John 8:44 where Jesus told some people: Ye are of your father the devil” He explainsThere was no divine blood in the people Jesus was talking to; they wouldn't accept it”( April 2006 Issue “the divine blood of Jesus controls” By Ernest Angley)

The Bible says they had no faith, not divine blood was missing in their soul or veins.

At Gethsemane the blood was being tried, persecuted so greatly that the vessel of clay that contained it—Jesus who had taken on the form of flesh to become our elder brother—prayed, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt (Matthew 26:39). It was divine blood that brought Jesus through the agony of Calvary; divine blood triumphed.” (Now For The Blood Test By Ernest Angley)

“The divine blood of Jesus is so strong that He could conquer death. Jesus said, I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again (John 10:17, 18). Jesus gave His life's blood; man couldn't take it from Him. Leaving His divine life in heaven with the Father, Jesus went to Calvary so we could have divine life eternally” (The Blood Of Jesus By Ernest Angley)

Divine blood has the Resurrection power” (The Results Of The Jesus Blood Test By Ernest Angley)

No Jesus was resurrected by God Christ in you the hope of glory is his spirit not the blood.

How can his blood that was in the tomb bring his spirit back into the body? It wasn’t the blood that raised Jesus but the Spirit, Jesus said I have power to take it again. “I” is not the blood speaking.” “God hath raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). God who is Spirit has no blood. (All three persons of the triune God were involved in the resurrection). There is confusion of who went to calvary. Angley says his divine life is the blood, but his divine life was left in heaven—was he only a man, what kind of blood did he give? The internal contradictions of Angley’s own belief system become apparent as one pays attention to what he is actually saying.

“The blood will keep Satan in the bottomless pit. The chain? It's a chain of the same blood that makes us overcomers” ( Blood Means Victorious Living By Ernest Angley)

Referring to Revelation 20:1-3, “…one day one angel using one chain of the blood of Jesus will cast him into the bottomless pit” (How To Plead The Blood By Ernest Angley”

The chain in the hand of the angel who binds Lucifer consists of the blood of the Lamb, a chain of blood” (Lucifer Is Fallen By Ernest Angley)

Where does it say this? How can blood be a chain? Some of his statements are so far removed from the Bible I wonder how he comes up with them and they are accepted as Bible teaching.

The Church was born through the blood that flowed from the side of Jesus” (The Results Of The Jesus Blood Test By Ernest Angley VOLUME 20 THE MYSTERIES OF GOD)

We were purchased by the blood that bled from him when he was alive willingly giving his life until his death, not by a spear from a Roman soldier piercing his side after he died. The church was born on Pentecost by the Spirit.

Angley goes as far as to say “Those today who don't believe in the miracles of God do not have divine blood in their soulswhich means they are unsaved according to him. (April 2006 Issue “the divine blood of Jesus controls” By Ernest Angley). This certainly is self protection for what he claims are miracles personally done by the blood.

Blood Scriptures distorted

To Angley everything is the blood, no matter what the Scripture, it all relates to the blood of Jesus:

Speaking of the battle of Armageddon. ‘It will look as though Satan is winning; but suddenly Jesus appears, His vesture dipped in the blood that will defeat the devil.”(Blood Means Victorious Living By Ernest Angley)

The blood must be used in all battles with the enemy. Never think about battling the enemy if your soul isn't covered with the blood. In Revelation we read that when Christ comes to do battle in Armageddon He will be clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God” (Revelation 19:13)” (The Powers In The Blood By Ernest Angley)

Angley is saying he will have his own blood on him. He makes this even clearer when he states:

“The vesture dipped in blood identifies the rider on the white horse as Jesus. He is coming with judgment for all who rejected His blood and trampled it underfoot. Jesus will be saying, This blood of mine that I spilled for you and dipped my vesture into would have saved you. I want you to look at it; it would have saved you, but you cried, "Away with the blood!”(Armageddon, At The Time Of The End By Ernest Angley)

Apparently Angley believes Jesus vesture has his own blood on it (as if it will protect him in battle). This contradiction is answered by the prophet Isaiah who makes it clear on the blood –Isa. 63:2-3 “Why is Your apparel red, and Your garments like one who treads in the winepress? I have trodden the winepress alone, and from the peoples no one was with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, and trampled them in My fury; their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, and I have stained all My robes” (see Isa. 34:7-8).

The blood is that of his enemies, NOT his own blood. If the next verses in Revelation 19:14-15 are read it becomes clear “He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”

The biblically ungrounded may see him as totally legit, and he may be accurate in some areas, but if his doctrine is this wrong on the blood of Jesus then it is wrong on the person of Jesus. He is touted as the American preacher coming to Africa with miracle cures from Jesus. These are bizarre teachings on the blood that should not be exported to the body of Christ here in America or Africa. Nothing whatsoever in the Scripture states Christ's blood is Divine or a spiritual substance of God that gives us power. These teachings are based on nothing but his own imagination of what Scripture states, so we are left with a choice- to trust Angley over the Scripture on these matters, or the Scripture themselves!
