The Deadly do - rights of Dominionism
The Religious pursuit of rule and control
Just as Moses was delayed from coming back down the mountain the people fell
back into the idolatry they were just delivered from in Egypt. Aaron appeasing
the masses sanctioned it with God’s approval to do what was needed until Moses
returned. After all they did not know how long he would be on the mountain, 40
days seemed like an eternity an they lost patience. Likewise in the last days
the religious masses will tire of waiting for Jesus’ return and will take things
into their own hands saying that this is what God has told us to do.
2 Peter 3:3-9 “knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days,
walking according to their own lusts,
and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell
asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” For
this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and
the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then
existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which
are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of
judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget this one
thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years
as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count
slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish
but that all should come to repentance.”
These are people that are quoting the Scripture – they believe in creation, they
make the point of the fathers of the faith sleeping, (which is the biblical word
for the saints that have died); that nothing has changed. They ask, Where is
Jesus? Why is the world continuing without change as from the beginning. They
are using the Bibles account to make their argument! This certainly applies to
the “kingdom dominion” teaching we see today. They have become impatient. Peter
answer: things have not changed because God is giving people more time to
repent. The full number of people will be saved in the end and that is what the
Lord’s goal is. But for those who are not involved in evangelism by the gospel
and have their own desires they question how this is panning out.
Oftentimes when we expect to see something take place and it doesn’t, we take
things in our own hands (Remember the lesson of Abraham and Hagar). The obvious
conclusion: Jesus has not come back, so WE need to do something to make it
happen! They are “walking according to their own desires.” Let’s do it for him
since He has not returned. Not realizing judgment (the Day of the Lord) is
indeed coming to earth in God’s timing.
What comes first - Scoffers- Gr. empaiktes – meaning derider, i.e. (by
implication) a false teacher: this time period of the last days will be
identified by this. These men’s platform questions the fulfillment of Jesus’
return. They may question a judgment coming, a tribulation. They intentionally
disregard the fact of God’s judgment coming. He is not going to bring this to a
conclusion the way we thought; we must do something. Notice what it answers -
they willfully forget: Forget what? That God does judge and what is written will
take place just as what God told Noah took place.
Believers are told to not forget “one thing” - the word forget in Greek is
lanthano - to be hidden, secretly, unaware, without knowing. In other words,
God’s word will still be fulfilled, even with those who intentionally ignore it.
But we need to have His perspective and he is very patient, but when he
commences to work it can be swift.
The gospel whose purpose is to save ones soul is replaced today with many
variations. Some are wanting to save the world or save the environment. But
dominionists have something even more insidious for a solution. They believe we
don’t have to wait for him to return to set things in order, we can do it by the
authority given to the church. This is why Dominionism goes completely against
God’s word, it neglects the declaring of the gospel for methods to “Christianize
the world.”
God in the Bible has said in portion what nations will be destroyed what nations
will be saved. To teach people that we need to Christianize the world and its
system disregards his prophetic word, it is rebellion against what the Lord has
spoken.
James 2:5: “Has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and
heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?
And how do we show we love Him, Jesus said “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My
word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home
with him. “He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which
you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me” (John 14:23-24)
Think about those who change the prophesies for the last days in such a manner
that they teach the church to Christianize the nations; to take the world by
force, through new spiritual mechanism’s (spiritual warfare).
In the Third Wave revival, which is really a substitute name for the Latter
Rain, many hold the idea that Christ will return only after the Church has
brought the Christian influence on society, the nations. The elect are not
raptured (neither pre or post), instead they are victorious here on earth by
becoming completed sons (Rom.8 transformation) as empowerd immortal beings they
go throughout the earth as little Christ’s doing miracles. To sum it up: before
Jesus returns, the Church will rise up in unity, and glory. Advancing the
Kingdom of God until it fills the entire Earth. Jesus will then see the mission
completed and return. Scripture verse _________.
To try and Christianize nations not only shows a misunderstanding of what we are
called to do but what we are anticipating to happen only from Christ’s return.
Transform education, science, medicine, arts - but most importantly - politics
and government.
This is called the 7 mountains.
Apostle of the apostles Peter Wagner speaks of Johnny Enlow “The strongest word
that the Spirit is currently speaking to the churches relates to God’s desire
for His people to take dominion over every area of our society… No one to date
has better revealed to the body of Christ the natural and the spiritual
challenges for fulfilling God’s plan in each of the mountains” (Johnny Enlow -
C. Peter Wagner, Presiding Apostle- International Coalition of Apostles January
24, 2009)
Johnny Enlow is a co-senior pastor of Daystar Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Great
choice of names, Daystar happens to be the original name of the anointed cherub
we now call Satan. Peter Wagner has endorsed his vision because it codifies his
own. Wagner describes this dominionism: “Our goal, in a word, is transformation.
The first stage in this goal is personal transformation because each saint must
be prepared to do his or her part in the process of taking dominion.... “Our
assignment. . . is to help as many people as possible move their primary focus
from self or church to kingdom.
“Which leads us to the second stage of the goal of transformation, namely
corporate or social transformation. We want to see whole cities and regions and
states and nations transformed to support the values of the kingdom of God.”
This personal transformation is a shift in ones perspective, the seven
mountains: are religion, family, business, arts and entertainment, government,
education, and media.
Here we have the shift of ones focus from giving the gospel and discipleship
based in the Bible to instead targeting areas of culture to transform it to be
an image of what they call Christian. But how can it be Christian when Jesus
said my kingdom is NOT of this world. What’s the sense of praying for His
kingdom to come when we can take things in our own hands and make it all happen?
Lance Wallnau on the seven mountains: The warfare strategy is that ‘if the world
is to be won, these are the mountains that mold the culture and the minds of
men. Whoever controls these mountains controls the direction of the world and
the harvest therein.’”
So it all comes down to a matter of mans control, whether it be “in the name of
the Lord” or not; like communism
There is enough evidence on how leadership is to be conducted, Paul said “Not
for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by
faith ye stand” (2 Cor. 1:24)
The promoters of this dominionism often allegorize scripture. An example of this
is clearly seen by Enlow: “prepare the way of the Lord before His return. “The
coming Elijah Revolution will affect the entire world and will prepare the way
of the Lord before His return. According to Scripture, Jesus will sit at God’s
right hand until all of His enemies are put under His feet. The Elijah
Revolution will accomplish this as God’s end-time emissaries confront seven
nations and “greater and mightier than we” the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites,
Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. These nations correspond to
seven “mountains” of global society Media, Government, Education, Economy,
Religion, Celebration/Arts, and Family.” These culture-shaping areas of
influence over society are the keys to taking a nation for the kingdom of God.”
“The purpose of this book is to help each individual determine his or her
specific assignment in this mission; and then to offer insight into the nature
of the battles involved in this spiritual confrontation.
With divine power and favor, revolutionaries will take these mountains for
Christ!” (Pastor Johnny Enlow’s book “The Seven Mountain Prophecy”)
Besides his intentionally ignoring other “ites” such as the Amalekites, the
Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, and
lets not neglect the Sidonians and Philistines.
Can he actually make a case for each of these tribes associated with Media,
Government, Education, Economy, Religion, Celebration/Arts, and Family. No. And
yet he picked the group that numbered 7 to correspond to his 7 point theory. Are
we to literally change (7) nations that are greater in these qualities? What a
flawed analogy.
This was about Israel traveling into the promised land. So in essence, what he
and Wagner and all the rest are proposing is that this world is the promised
land after they transform these nations. Rediculous!
Furthermore Christians are being instructed to target these areas to influence
them to become Christian without the gospel offered for individuals to make a
decision. This would be disobedience to the command as Saul was disobedience,
would it not?
This concept is endorsed by usual crowd” J. Lee Grady; Larry Tomczak ; Dr. Che
Ahn; Cal Pierce; Os Hillman Marketplace Leaders & International Coalition of
Workplace Ministries; Loren Cunningham founder of YWAM and others.
We told to look at the examples of: Esther, Daniel, Nehemiah, Joseph who had
great influence over their culture.
First let’s get the overall perspective. These people in the bible’s record were
influential of their Jewish culture that was to be preserved, as in the case of
Esther and Daniel who were in captivity. They were not told to change the nation
they were in, In fact they left it. There are numerous examples from the Old
Testament that show us God does not reform a culture when it is paganized or
engulfed in sin but removes His people (remnant) from it (another good example
is Jonah whom we will look at).
God didn’t send Moses back to Egypt to restructure their worship and convert
them to the true God. Instead, He was concerned with his people’s worship and
asked for Israel to leave the land to worship him. Eventually He took Israel out
permanently and brought them into the Promised Land. Which in type is a picture
of the church and saints in heaven. Christ never attempted to reform the evil
culture of His day, he told us we are to be in the world but not if it.
Dominionists do not believe that the Church must wait for the coming of Christ
for the Kingdom of God to come to earth, but the church must arise and take her
rightful place. They want to take back dominion from Satan and control the world
for Christ. “Kingdom now advocates” view anything less than the Church taking
over the world before the return of Jesus as defeat. Do they not read what Jesus
said in the gospels or the book of Revelation? To establish the kingdom on earth
first so that Christ can return and be king is not instructed. This is what the
Roman Catholic church tried to do, and that worked out so well.
Jesus never said we would win over the world, but instead would through
preaching the gospel transfer people from the kingdom of darkness (this fallen
world) into the kingdom of light (the kingdom of His Son). The Kingdom of God
that now resides in the believer is a moral spiritual influence under Jesus, our
Lord and master. However if one goes against his word, the prophecies, can He be
their Lord?
Wagner states: “Our theological bedrock is what has been known as Dominion
Theology. This means that our divine mandate is to do whatever is necessary, by
the power of the Holy Spirit, to retake the dominion of God's creation which
Adam forfeited to Satan in the Garden of Eden. It is nothing less than seeing
God's kingdom coming and His will being done here on earth as it is in heaven”
(C. Peter Wagner, letter, May 31, 2007) [emphasis mine]
His kingdom comes before the king comes? How? By the church retaking the land?
It hasn’t been until our “rethinkers” came up with a strategy for “church
triumphalism,” before Christ comes back that had the rapture abandoned. You can
hear this nonsense all over Christian TV. We see this concept being utilized
already as what is of the world being used by the church. They end justifies the
means. Are they really Christianizing the world or is the world transforming
them? It’s not working. This is all part of the falling away (from the word), as
it diminishes our preparing and watching for His coming as the events He
forewarned begin to transpire.
In Acts 1:6-7 they asked Jesus, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the
kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or
seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.”
Some seem to think that they now know the time the kingdom would be restored on
earth; The time is now.
2 Tim. 4:1: “…the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at
His appearing and His kingdom” It is by his appearing the kingdom is brought to
earth, the church cannot do what only Christ, the God/man can.
This Christianize the world includes delivering cities and nations of demons
through territorial spiritual warfare. Dominion/Kingdom Now believes they can
judge the earth and remove evil (which include those who hinder their unity).
This begins by uniting the churches so that there is a one church per city to
“reconstruct” society to dominate every area of the World. Prayer Intercessors
target strategic positions in the heavenlies to bring down named principalities,
they are exercising authority to put Satan under their feet.
Dominionists often use biblical words or phrases and distort them to reinforce
their justification for building the kingdom here on Earth today. The Kingdom
dominionist idea has the concept of a total salvation, where they destroy evil
that affects humankind.... the Kingdom of God becomes a new order of man ruling
over man. The Christians control purified political system, since the government
is to be on His shoulders (Isa.9:7)which they interpret as the Church). Sounds
more like Sharia law than anything from the Bible.
To run around and pull down demonic strongholds by new revelation is not what
Jesus taught us to learn or do. We are told to bring the gospel to people, for
them to have a new birth so that they can live in the kingdom when it is
established on earth. To change man, his heart must be changed. For centuries
the gospel is what missionary organizations labored with, until we had new
apostles and prophets come on the scene. Adherents of Kingdom Now teaching
believe that the church that listens to these prophets will experience a
worldwide revival that will impact entire nations - they will be Christianized
by a “Latter Rain”.
It has been said for years that pastors who are not willing to go along with
this new move will be removed. As the church changes and these concepts gain
strength it will oppose what we once had known as historic Christianity.
This new goal by the church is led by an elite spiritual squad of generals,
“prophets,” who have a very different view of the end times. They have an
allegorical interpretation of the Bible where there is no literal removing away
of the church, a literal anti-Christ, a literal tribulation, a literal
Armageddon, it is replaced by spiritualizing the Word of God.
I find it interesting that Jonah who is the only one to have total success in a
city turning to the Lord but this ancient way is not a useful solution by the
third wave dominionists. He did not go into Nineveh to change the city by some
religious standard but told them to repent of their evil. They did and God had
mercy on them. Sin has intensified through the ages, as it did in Noah’s’ day.
When the majority of people become so sinful that repentance is not possible,
his grace time is over, God judges. It was for Noah, and it will be for us.
The kingdom is advanced by preaching the gospel to people, not by God’s moral
values incorporated on an evil society. We are to be salt and light in our
society as an example. There must be a certain amount of moral law instituted to
refrain and punish evil which is governments purpose (Rom.13). Since they are
not presenting the gospel how can real change take effect? If we can moralize
society to look and act as Christian then who needs to become a Christian. We
must be careful not to replace a relationship with Christ through the gospel
with merely obeying moral laws. Any “reformation” of society has come when
individuals were transformed through faith in Christ and their lives then became
an influence for God’s good in society. To live after Christ has always been a
matter of choice not by implementing a rule or standard over the majority of the
people.
Nowhere does Scripture teach that these 7 things in the world will improve
because of the church, instead we are told they will get worse and worse. Jesus
explained this by relating the end to being “as the days of Noah.” And there is
sufficient evidence how that ended. We are watching the world’s current
condition spiraling downward and this is exactly what the Scriptures illustrates
will happen in the last days. But we ignore the same descriptions for the
condition of the Church which is also predicted. Jesus warned that there would
be such a great deception that it would intrude into the Church itself. This I
why Jesus said, “Nevertheless when the Son of man comes, shall he find faith on
the earth?” (Luke 18:5-8 KJV)
The Latter Rain’s understanding of the Great Commission is a restoration
theology that cannot actually take place until the Millennium and will not take
place in the form that today’s dominionists allege. For it is Christ who will
restore these 7 areas in the Millennium and He has not given this authority into
the hands of any man until He is physically here to reign.
Jesus did not teach, that the Church will triumph over the earth by
Christianizing the world nations before He comes. How is this possible when He
said, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom” (Luke
21:10).
Jesus said “I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that
day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom” (Matt 26:29). Which
means he among us in the kingdom.
He warned that we should be on guard so we are not deceived because of what will
take place on a worldwide scale, distress of nations and persecution that would
come to true believers. He said, “When these things begin to happen” we are to
“look up.” Why tell us to look up if the Kingdom is being established here on
the earth by us?
The prophet Daniel was given an enormous amount of insight about the last
kingdom and ruler before Christ comes back. Daniel 2:40-45: “And the fourth
kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and
shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in
pieces and crush all the others. Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of
potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength
of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.
And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the
kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. As you saw iron mixed with
ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to
one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. And in the days of these kings
the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the
kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume
all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. “Inasmuch as you saw that the
stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the
iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold–the great God has made
known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and
its interpretation is sure.”
Daniel is speaking of a fourth kingdom – the last kingdom with kings that will
rule the earth under a single king over all the nations. Daniel’s dream is
symbolic, representing literal events that are to take place prior to the Lord’s
return. The kingdoms of this world go from valuable to less and less precious
through history, showing our decline. From a head of gold, to arms of silver, to
a belly and thighs of bronze to finally the last empire feet of iron mixed with
ceramic clay “its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay”
(Daniel 2:33). We know from Scripture that clay is a symbol of man (God is the
potter, and we are the clay), yet Daniel states that it does not mix with iron.
Iron is a symbol of strength and authority; this last kingdom made of iron is a
counterfeit of Christ’s kingdom, that Jesus will rule with a rod of iron
(Rev.2:27;12:5;19:15) the iron mixed with clay is a false authority of man
ruling. Daniel describes this man and his kingdom as a Beast “Different from all
the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its nails of
bronze, which devoured, broke in pieces, and trampled the residue with its feet”
(Dan. 7:19) V.23: “Thus he said: ‘The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on
earth, which shall be different from all other kingdoms, and shall devour the
whole earth, trample it and break it in pieces.”
This fourth kingdom is different from the others because the Dragon (Satan)
gives him “his power, his throne and great authority.” Just as the Son of God
was given authority by the Father, the Dragon will give the counterfeit, the son
of perdition authority. His rule will combine spirituality with political might
like no other government or religion in history. This ruler will not be an
atheist but “he shall honor a god of fortresses,” (Daniel 11:38). Fortresses in
Hebrew is ma`owz which means force, strength; his god will be the god of forces,
one of power, might and authority as he rules ruthlessly.
This fourth kingdom is more brutal and controlling than any before it. So how
does the dominionist view of Christianizing the nations fit with this? This one
thing that must be understood so you are NOT deceived along with the portion of
the church that is promoting kingdom now.
The saints are not ruling in this last kingdom, they need to be rescued; it
takes the Ancient of Days to come and break his rule.
Daniel 7:21-22: “I was watching; and the same horn (little horn) was making war
against the saints, and prevailing against them, until the Ancient of Days came,
and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time
came for the saints to possess the kingdom.”
Clearly there is no Church government to rule triumphantly before Christ. The
apostasy that is predicted in the Scripture fits in perfectly with the “kingdom”
now scenario. As those who do not listen to the word are the proponents who want
to set up God’s kingdom to rule over the nations now; without Christ physically
being here. Will they amalgamate into this fourth kingdom? Notice it is not
until Jesus comes that we possess the kingdom. In the “kingdom now” scenario,
the kingdom is set up by the church before he comes.
Dan. 2:34-35 tells us in symbolic language the stone cut out without hands
destroys the image (the last kingdom)
Psalm 2:6-8: “Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.” “I will declare
the decree: the LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of
the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; you
shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’” This is God the Father
promising this to his only begotten Son, not to the church as some have
misapplied it. This is given to the head of the church, Jesus the Messiah, the
King is the inheritor.
While the fourth kingdom was made of Iron mixed with clay, Christ instead rules
His kingdom with a rod of iron (meaning with unbreakable rules, absolutes;
disobedience will bring swift repercussions). Notice that those ruling the
earthly kingdom when He comes will be broken like clay vessels. Why? Because it
is NOT His kingdom they set up, but their own. It is Jesus who is to have the
nations and the earth for his inheritance.
The false-Christ comes riding on a white horse through the APOSTATE CHURCH, what
he first does is conquer, the people, the nations.
Jesus said Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth”, not the
forceful (Matt 5:5). Matt. 11:12: "And from the days of John the Baptist until
now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”
What changed once John was preaching repentance anticipating the Messiah? It was
religious men who wanted to keep their position and authority over the people
that challenged his message that was the same to all. Later, after John is no
longer heard, Jesus said to these same people who refused to repent and believe
in his word "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up
the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you
allow those who are entering to go in” (Matt 23:13)
The same applies to the teachers in the church that do not preach the gospel,
but instead use what they have invented as a means to bring a kingdom that they
call God’s, as they attempt to rule without Christ.
As we watch these things transpire and accelerate we are told “And we desire
that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until
the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith
and patience inherit the promises” (Heb 6:11-12). God will bring about his
promises in his time.
1 Cor.15:28 the last enemy is death. So how is the church going to overcome the
Adamic curse. Its not by our own might, nor by the church rising, it is Christ
who decides when this will happen. We will co rule over the nations, not before
Christ comes but afterwards, when we have been transformed and are without sin.
He is the one that will appoint and commission us.
May this Psalm be an encouragement to you:
Ps. 37:7-20: “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because
of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to
pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret-- it only causes harm.
For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the LORD, they shall
inherit the earth. For yet a little while and the wicked shall be no more;
indeed, you will look carefully for his place, but it shall be no more. But the
meek shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of
peace. The wicked plots against the just, and gnashes at him with his teeth. The
Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming. The wicked have drawn
the sword and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, to slay
those who are of upright conduct. Their sword shall enter their own heart, and
their bows shall be broken. A little that a righteous man has is better than the
riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the LORD
upholds the righteous. The LORD knows the days of the upright, and their
inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, and in
the days of famine they shall be satisfied. But the wicked shall perish; and the
enemies of the LORD, like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish. Into smoke
they shall vanish away.”
