Mormons use TV media to promote Christians Holy Book There are charlatans in every walk of life. Some promote their product to masses using the media to convince people of their product, some use other peoples product in their advertising to have people purchase their own. To God, the creator of the universe, the biggest deceivers are those involved in religious deception. Recently I saw an ad on TV where a child is shown changing into an older boy then into an adult then into an old man. At the end of the ad they ask what will be your excuse “When you stand in front of your maker how are you going to tell him that 74.2 years was not enough time to read his word. They then show the Bible on the left side of the screen with the words on it Holy Bible and say “for your free copy of the Holy Bible just call” and they advertise the website as freeholybible…. It’s a gift from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints at no cost. Incredible that a church that claims to represent Jesus Christ would lie and deceive in this blatant manner to millions of people. This Bible may be free but it will cost you. It used to be that the Mormons had both the Bible and the Book of Mormon on the screen but now they are even more sly. The Mormon Church has four books of scripture referred to as ““The Standard Works.” For a Mormon there are three books that are all more important than the Bible. The Book of Mormon, The Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine and Covenants, these are accepted as modern scripture to them. They claim “...the Book of Mormon [is] the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book” (Book of Mormon, 1987, Introduction). So if they believe this about their own book why would they promote the Bible as if they believe it? This is what we know as a type of bait and switch. Yes the person who calls for a free Bible gets it, and much more. They also get the Mormon books and a visitation from the neighborhood missionaries convincing them of their book and church. The Mormon church does not believe the Bible is holy and I have never seen so many disturbing and antagonistic comments about it -- not in our time, nor throughout the history of the church. And this is coming from a church that claims to be Christian representing Jesus. Lets look at what their founder said about the Bible. Joseph Smith claimed the Bible is full of errors, “Ignorant translators, careless transcribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg.327). This is why they say “...He (Joseph Smith) has brought forth the Book of Mormon...; has sent the fulness of the everlasting gospel, which it contained, to the four quarters of the earth...” So Joseph Smith the founder of this new religion did away with the inerrancy and infallibility of the Scriptures that all the prophets wrote and depended on. The Mormons are all taught that the Bible is replaced with their new revelation-- book of Mormon. The Bible is read through the glasses of the book of Mormon (and their other revelations). The tenth Prophet of the Mormon Church explained how one can understand “Guided by the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Spirit of the Lord, it is not difficult for one to discern the errors in the Bible.” (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, p. 191) The Book of Mormon becomes superior companion to the Holy Bible, correcting its errors. The Book of Mormon is of course considered the more correct. “We believe the bible as far as it is translated correctly. Many plain and precious truths are lost.” In other words if you want to know what the Bible says it must be through the book of Mormon’s revelation to understand it. This why they say as far as it is translated correctly, it rarely is, unless they say it is.Joseph Smith “I told the brethren that the book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth and the keystone of our religion and a man would nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than any other book” (Joseph Smith history of the church vol.4 p. 461). So if the Bible is this incorrect why use it and call it Holy? Recently when I had two young Mormons visit my doorstep I asked them some challenging questions. Our conversation came to the Bible, I told them what I know their church says. That they do not believe the Bible and the book of Mormon is meant to correct (actually contradicts) its teachings. What transpired next is what often takes place in a conversation with a Mormon, you will hear him repeat the same words -- what he heard from his leaders. “We all know the Bible has been translation hundreds and thousands of times, so it can’t be accurate” (some have said to me up to 500,000 times). After I ask a Mormon to show which portions were not reliable and which are. And to explain why they are not reliable because of evidence I’m often faced with a blank stare as if they have just become intellectually numb. When I proceed to explain the evidence of history, manuscripts, prophecy it is like talking to a cement wall. You'd think that somebody who doesn't trust the Bible because they have heard it was not properly translated, when shown that it is properly translated and can be trusted (That we have the manuscript evidence). They would be happy they have learned this. But they have accepted the fact it hasn't been translated correctly and dare not go against their leadership, instead of a good reaction it's just ignored as if you did not say a word. They instead rely on their confession of faith that the Book of Mormon is really from God because of a witness they got from feelings they believe is from the Holy ghost. But this ghost does not bear witness to the Bible, which the real Holy Spirit wrote, but to another book that denies the Bible. Hmmm. Needless to say in our passionate conversation the elder trainer started to get mad and retaliated lashing back with a few derogatory comments; and I said you tell the people in the next house you go to what you REALLY think of the Bible before you tell them about your Book of Mormon. He responded matter of factly as he was leaving “well we want to give them the meat before we give them the milk.” Smith’s successors have said the same as their founder. The Bible has “passed through generations of copyists, translators and corrupt religionists who have tampered with it” (Ezra Taft Benson, Ensign Jan 92, p.5) Orson Pratt claimed, “Who knows that even one verse of the whole Bible has escaped pollution, so as to convey the same sense know that it did in the original?” ...(Divine Authenticity of the Book of Mormon, pp.44-47). “The Bible has been robbed of its plainness; many sacred books having been lost, others rejected by the Romish [Roman Catholic] Church, and what few we have left, were copied and re-copied so many times, that it is admitted that ALMOST EVERY VERSE HAS BEEN CORRUPTED AND MUTILATED....” (Apostle Orson Pratt, The Seer, pp. 212 - 213, 1854). Mark E. Peterson wrote, “Many insertions were made, some of them `slanted' for selfish purposes while at times deliberate falsifications and fabrications were perpetrated” (As Translated Correctly, p.4). “ the planned changes resulted from man's deliberate altering of the original text and meaning to serve his own purposes and not to preserve the words of the Lord” (The Inspired Revision of the Bible, Merrill Y. Van Wagoner, pp.5, 24--(Pearl of Great Price, Moses 1:41.) Is this Christian to say something like this about Gold’s HOLY Word? “No one can tell whether even one verse of either the Old or New Testament conveys the ideas of the original author” (Journal of Discourses Vol. 7.p.28) “The Bible itself is but the dead letter.” (Joseph F. Smith, Gospel Doctrine, p. 102) “Thou fool, that shall say: 'A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible” (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 29:6). One of their modern day apostles said “Today [the devil] centers his powers on...using [the Bible] to prove such false doctrines as that God is a Spirit or that we are saved by grace alone without works” (Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, The Joseph Smith Translation, p. 13) The Devil! If they really believe this why would they try to use it to draw people to their own religion? Where is their integrity? Is it the Devil who uses the Bible or keeps people away from it? Jesus said “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44) Dan. 10:21 “But I will tell you what is noted in the Scripture of Truth.” Jesus quoted the Old Testament as if every word was true. He then said “If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” Jesus' word was the Bible. Jesus said, “I have given them your word” “My word is truth” (Jn.17). It was the fathers teaching and he always referred to the Old Testament to show it is accurate. Interesting how certain statements can be used to judge the ones who say it. As the ad stated--I wonder how a Mormon will stand before his maker after 74.2 years and say I read your word and still did not believe it to repent and follow Jesus as he asked us to. Hmmm My suggestion for the Mormons is to look in the Bible with more respect and look into its pages as history and truth before they repeat that God and Jesus Christ are wrong. |
