Isaiah's evangelical call to the world, "come to the waters of life." Mankind's heart are restless until they find rest in him. Being made in God's image and rejecting him confuses us and leads us astray to do what is contrary to his will and ways. When people reject God and his word they reject all that is good. One can be satisfied with food and their thirst can be quenched, but that is only temporary until the next time you hunger or thirst. What about our spiritual thirst. To be away from God and his word makes one spiritually thirsty. This message is about our spiritual condition being restored in Christ who is the fountain of living water. It can be used as a tool for evangelism to those who have not heard the Word of Christ that brings life, new life to those who are dead in sin. Our trying to satisfy our spiritual thirst by the things of the world only brings more emptiness,… A restlessness without peace resides in us until we are renewed -reformed in the image of Christ. For It is Something only God can fill. Isaiah's book is filled with gospel declarations. "Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?" is quoted by both John and Paul In Isa 55:3-5, speaking to the nation who has rebelled and is in sin. If Israel returns they will have the sure mercies of God. Yet Isaiah begins in v.1 with an invitation for all to come. "Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters... Isaiah the prophets message is not just to the Jews to whom the Word of salvation was sent to first, but to the Gentiles; but to everyone living in the world!
