Being sanctified by the truth The Bible uses two main theological words for the believer living on earth, Justification and sanctification. These culminate in our glorification after this life. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:11) And we continue to be cleansed by hearing and obeying the Word. Jesus spoke of himself, that the Father sanctified and sent into the world, (John 10:36). Explaining his incarnation, that he was not the same as other men, he pre-existed and had a mission from birth. Jesus prayed in John 17:17 Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth. V.19. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. God changes the believers life through the Word; it is a steady work of the Holy Spirit in us that lasts through our lifetime as we yield and obey the Word daily. By our understanding the Word (the Truth) and then applying it, it can change us into the people Christ wants us to be. The Psalmist wrote (25:4-5) Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me . By continuing in His Word the Truth will make you free. Truth is essential for living the Christian faith, we must face the truth of the world, ourselves and others. Our sanctification began at the time of our justification, when we first believed. Hebrews 10:10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all . V.14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. Acts 20:32 So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 1 Corinthians 1:2 Paul wrote to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints Paul was given the mission to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.' ( Acts 26:18) Romans 15:16 that I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit . For those who have strayed and gone loved the world more Paul admonishes them Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work . (2 Timothy 2:21) Yes, there is always hope for change as long as you have breath. |
