Do the Saints or the 144,000 fight the Battle of Armageddon?

Rev. 19:11-15 “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.     He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”

It is the wrath of God that comes upon the world which is completed at Armageddon, when Christ returns. Notice it is His clothes are stained but the Saints are not.

The mention of Armies in heaven can throw one off in this. Armies Gr: strateuma from the word an armament, i.e. (by implication) a body of troops (more or less extensive or systematic), it can be used for one engaged in battle or one who comes in a military formation. We, the church that is glorified follow Him on these angelic creatures (described as white horses because of the similarity) and we are kept clean. Whether these are angels who come with us, or only people, or both is the question to be answered. In the Old Testament we have Deut. 33:2 that states The LORD came from Sinai… he shone forth from Mount Paran, and He came with ten thousands of saints” and gave the law to them. The word for saint, quodesh, holy ones can be applied to angels.( Heb.2:2;1222)

In the New Testament it is specific, 1Thess 4:14 ‘God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” Jude 1:14 “Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints” (10,000 being the highest digit in the Greek numeral system)

Jesus is described in Rev. 1:15-16 “His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.”

He, being the word made flesh speaks the word out of his mouth, whom he will destroy the Antichrist by.

II Thess. 2:8 “And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.”

II Thess 1:8-10 “in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.”

When Jesus rescues Israel after he defeats the armies of antichrist (this corresponds to Rev,.19)

Isa 63:1-4 “Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah, this One who is glorious in His apparel, traveling in the greatness of His strength?--" I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save." Why is Your apparel red, and Your garments like one who treads in the winepress? "I have trodden the winepress alone, and from the peoples no one was with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, and trampled them in My fury; their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, and I have stained all My robes. For the day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redeemed has come.” (Isa.34:6-)

(Notice Jesus says “I have trodden the winepress ALONE, he needs no help)

This being the Jubilee, where people are set free. Isa 61:2 “To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn”  Jesus spoke this the first time he spoke to Jews in the synagogue but he stopped after the acceptable year of the Lord, for the day of Vengeance was still future. But when the day of vengeance come it takes place on the proud, those who rebelled and denied Him while to those who accepted him, it becomes the Jubilee.

Deut. 32:35 Vengeance is Mine, and recompense”

Rom. 12:19"Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.

Nahum 1:2  “God is jealous, and the LORD avenges; the LORD avenges and is furious. The LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, and He reserves wrath for His enemies”

Jer. 46:10 “For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that He may avenge Himself on His adversaries. The sword shall devour; it shall be satiated and made drunk with their blood”

Ps. 94:1-2 “O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs-- O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth! Rise up, O Judge of the earth; render punishment to the proud.”

This is applicable to the nations who follow the one who fell because of pride who has exercised his pride and control in the end over the nations.

Isa. 35:4  Say to those who are fearful-hearted, "Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; he will come and save you."

Zech. 12:7-9 "The LORD will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall not become greater than that of Judah. "In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the LORD before them.

"It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

(Jesus fights alone and we are bystanders with him when we return with Him)

The Lord has promised Isa 59:16b-21

“His own righteousness, it sustained Him. For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head; he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak. According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay, fury to His adversaries, recompense to His enemies; the coastlands He will fully repay. So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him. "The Redeemer will come to Zion, and to those who turn from transgression in Jacob," says the LORD." As for Me," says the LORD, "this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants' descendants," says the LORD, "from this time and forevermore."

It will end exactly as the Lord has spoken by his own hand. Time to get right with Him is now,
