Will there be a temple built in Israel?
Isaiah 66:1-6: speaks of a Temple that God does not sanction to be built. God
did sanction Solomon's Temple and the Second Temple. Not all will be for this as
Isaiah describes a faithful Remnant that will not
participate or approve of the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple. It is this third
temple that Daniel speaks of and Jesus refers to.
Jesus Matt 24:15: “Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation,'
spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let
him understand), reference to the priests in the temple. Jesus warns that this
sign is to the Jews living in the middle of the Tribulation to flee.
Dan 9:26-27: “And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not
for Himself; and the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city
and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, and till the end of the
war desolations are determined.
27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; but in the middle of
the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of
abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which
is determined, is poured out on the desolate.”
Rev. 11:1-2 tells us that the Temple is given over to the Gentiles in the middle
of the Tribulation, and it will be desolated for three and a half years. Rev
12:6-10 tells us Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a
place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred
and sixty days.
Paul 2 Thess. 2:4 after Paul explains a falling away and rapture in relation to
the tribulation he writes. “who opposes and exalts himself above all that is
called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God,
showing himself that he is God.”
This is a double reference to the body and to a literal temple built in Israel
that would fulfill Daniels prophesy.
Dan. 9:27 and Rev. 11:1-2, explains that the son of perdition will set up a
throne in this Third Temple and declare himself to be the God. (Revelation
13:3-4) This is the Abomination of Desolation. Daniel 12:11 states an image of
himself will be built. Temple becomes the center of the worship of the
Antichrist. His false prophet makes an image which is given life
and remains for a total of 1,290 days, throughout the Tribulation period and 30
days after Jesus returned (As the whole world worships him and his image, it
will stand as a testimony of their allegiance).
As Daniel 9:26-27 describes a cessation of the sacrifices. The fact that these
sacrifices are stopped in the middle of the Tribulation tells us that they have
been practiced for a time.
The point is that the Temple is there functioning in the middle of the
Tribulation. Which means the Tribulation Temple is rebuilt during the first half
of the Tribulation or before the Tribulation begins.
