*In Psalm 2:8 God says to his Son, “Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.” There are those who pray this prayer for the Church, as if God promised this to us. This is applying the Scripture out of its context. God has not given us (the church) the nations, God the Father is promising this to his only begotten Son, Christ the God/man to be the ruler of the nations. He made the earth and it is his rule over. The nations are not given to the church but to the head of the church; the King is the inheritor. What they are doing is taking a promise to Jesus and attributing it to themselves which very wrong. |
