The basics in Witnessing to anyone or to someone in a cult Most will not call themselves a cult anymore because of the stigmatism that accompanies the word. But this does not change the fact of what a Cult actually is by being defined Biblically. When dealing with those in another religion or cult its best to ask questions first. Ask them what is salvation to them, if they claim they are saved, how they were saved? When asking specifics you may find their answers lacking or skewered. Ask them how they give the message of salvation? Do people respond and are saved? You will find when focusing on the topic of salvation they have no concept of grace, the new covenant or how one is saved or what that even means. First we need to Know the people we want to reach, have at least a basic working knowledge of their beliefs so that you avoid major mistakes in your conversation. Know their strengths and weaknesses in their arguments. So that you do not end up having a religious conversation that has no outcome. We can have all the preparation, from studying knowing the intricacies of their belief but we must rely on the Holy Spirit on what exactly can be used to reach their heart. Often this comes from attentively listening to what they say and not have self prepared method to reach them.In othere words we need to be flexible. Warfare will take place before you speak- such as giving you unsureness or anxiety, there can also be warfare as you discuss things. As the person might overreact or does not understand, then there is warfare after where you wonder if you said the right things. God can cover all your uncertainties. I have found it’s better to say some things wrong than to not say anything at all. God can cover our mistakes if our heart is right in our. When I first became a believer I didn’t say much, but I ended up losing almost all my friends. We want to try and keep our friendships intact without compromising and certainly not do what we used to with our friends. Each group has its own specific doctrines The JW’s will say we do not give a message of salvation but of the kingdom coming, that is the gospel to them. Iglesia ni Cristo will say only their ministers can speak the gospel and one must come to their church to be saved, for it is the only TRUE church. The Mormons believe of a gospel of commands of their church that one must keep to have eternal life. Error breeds more error. If the these abberant groups /church’s that we call cults would actually listen and want to pursue truth, they could see they have been trapped and can abandon their false doctrines and come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, the true Jesus Christ, who bore our sins in His body on the cross and redeemed us, they could enjoy the free forgiveness of sins that were done by Christ that we have come to know. Instead, because of the error of both God and salvation, their organizations, they are still under the law of their teachers and are required to obey all the commandments in order to receive the atonement work of Christ. Which they never will receive this way. So how do we to begin to witness. Don’t overload them, keep it simple and to the point, you will usuaully have another time with them. Have them read the Bible passages out loud in their own voice. Ask them what they see it means. Don’t tell me what your books or prophet or leaders say it means. What does the Bible say? Gods Spirit is here to help you, he wants to see people saved and he wants to use you to explain the message. So have some courage and open your mouth when the opportunity arrives, you wont regret it. |
