In discussing the different Jesus of Mormonism Mormonism: He shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers. she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God (Alma 7:10.) Regardless of any semantical arguments, Jerusalem is a city that was NOT the place of his birth. Matt 2:5-6 says, in Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:V.5:6 quoting Micah 5:2 'But you, Bethlehem , in the land of Judah,Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.' " Matt 2:7-8 Herod, sent the wisemen who came to Bethlehem and said, "Go and search diligently for the young Child John 7:42, from the town of Bethlehem The Mormon cult teaches from their books that Jesus was born in Jerusalem, not Bethlehem. I ask them was not the name Jesus a common name? If someone were to say they know you and said you were born in a different town than you actually were would you say they know you? Did Jesus have a mother and father as The Mormon cult teaches? Was he a spirit in a family of spirits before he came to earth, whose brother was Lucifer? No he was NOT! We ask If Jesus was conceived as a result of a physical union between God and Mary as Mormonism teaches. (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1, page 50). How was Jesus born of a virgin as the bible explains? When Christ died according to the Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 8:19, 23 darkness covered the land for three days. The Bible says it was for three hours until he was said it was finished (Luke 23:44 and). We ask the Mormon Have they read the scripture that warns of another Jesus 2 Cor.11:3-4 We Ask them how would you know if you have another, or different Jesus than the one in Scripture? The answer- it is by the Scripture of course We ask the Mormon to read out loud Revelations 22:18-19. It clearly states that anyone who would add to or subtract from the Scripture in any way was in deep trouble with God. They are anathema. Would this not include what we are discussing? They may claim this is only for the book of revelation. But there is a principle throughout the Scripture Deut. 4:2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take anything from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Repeated Deut. 12:32 Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it . The Book of wisdom penned by Solomon Prov. 30:6 Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. This was written long before the Book of Revelation, as the whole bible was written long before the Book of Mormon Paul writes in 1 Cor. 4:6 I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other. What do you think this means concerning the Scripture? We can point out by asking them, does not the Bible say there is another Jesus, with a different spirit and gospel? Have them read out loud 2 Cor. 11:4 if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted--you may well put up with it! Paul speaks of a different gospelin Gal 1:6-9 but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. Ask them if the bible says one thing on the subject and your books and prophet say another, then who is speaking of another Jesus; they or us? |
