| The sun will be darkened- the coming Eclipse of 2024 Jesus said Luke 21:25-27 " And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. A total solar eclipse is coming on April 8, 2024. This occurs when the Sun that is 400 times the diameter of the Moon, it is also about 400 times further from the Earth, so when the moon comes in front of the Sun the two appear the same size in the sky. From Texas through Maine the sun will be blocked by the moon sequentially through the middle of the day as it goes from a southwest on a northeast track. It begins in the Pacific Ocean 620 miles south of the Republic of Kiribati, enters the coast of Mexico, and then the United States border at the now famous eagle pass Texas. Its path is approx. 115 miles wide traveling through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire into Maine. The eclipse will then enter eastern Canada in Southern Ontario. The last eclipse on Aug.21 2017 is said by some to be the start of a countdown culminating with an eclipse in 2024. Now, seven years later, another eclipse is named the “Great North American Eclipse” because this eclipse will last longer, is wider in its path, and traverse over more highly populated parts of USA than any other. Many point out on April 8, 2024 will form an X on America with the path of the previous eclipse. According to NASA, the 2017 total solar eclipse has been crossed by the tracks of 15 previous eclipses over the continental United States between 1503 and 1970. There are 36 places named Salem in America (it is a one of the most popular names), there are 58 Salem’s in 15 different countries in the world. They are sure God is sending us messages through these eclipses path. Salem means peace, if God was sending a message by the eclipse path over cities, it certainly had nothing to do with peace, it did not produce peace; nor do we have peace. This has no meaning as they hyped it to have. How wide and how long it lasts is interpreted by numerology, even the shape was seen as a warning, looking like the corona virus. So many are quick to interpret the bible by their own reasoning from these signs of names and numbers. The number 7 is last used for the length of the tribulation period. The Eclipses occur almost 7 years apart, (2,422 days) when halved is 1,211 days (hardly a match for the 3 ½ years intended in Scripture, 1260 days). Some propose the seven Salem’s speak of judgment coming upon the earthly Jerusalem in order to allow the heavenly Jerusalem to bring the Kingdom to those who will inherit it. Some even say it is the birth of new Jerusalem. This is where you end up when looking for signs, spiritualizing the Word by natural events. Does the duration of the eclipse seen in certain cities mean anything? This eclipse will travel over 13 states and 500 cities. Some cities it will only last 1 minute and 30 seconds. The longest being in Batesville, Cape Girardeau, and Bloomington at over 4.00 minutes. Salem is less than 3.00 minutes. Does this mean if the Eclipse lasts longer in a city the more judgment (or blessing) they will have? Of course not. What of all the cities that do not have a total eclipse? They focus on America, but what of eclipses elsewhere in the past? July 21/22 2009 was the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century, lasting for 6 mins -39 secs, it affected India, China, and other parts of Asia (Surat, India, Chengdu, Shanghai, and Wuhan, China). The path of the two eclipses X marks the spot in America! Some say there are different areas where this X spot is. The x is supposedly is said to be in Salem Kentucky (on Salem road!) Other say the eclipse coming in 2024 will cross the path of the 2017 eclipse at Carbondale, Illinois, known as “Little Egypt.” The two eclipse’ will form an X in America. (Actually the X is over Cedar Lake in Jackson County, Illinois. The closest town is Makanda, population about 500, Carbondale is 3 miles NE.) X is often used for an unknown factor, the X means to those who are moved by signs like these as a "prophetic sign," even the "signature of God." Others point to it being related to the mark of the Beast. Some say the X in the Hebrew corresponds to the end of America, really! The intersecting point in the region as little Egypt some relate to Israel’s bondage, which some say can mean we will be enslaved. Carbondale, Illinois, may be known as “Little Egypt,” However, there are 17 places named Egypt in America, two places actually called Little Egypt, in Utah and Massachusetts.20 places named Canaan and 19 places named Cairo in America.There are also 5 places named Joshua in America, 11 places named Jerusalem in America and 2 places called New Jerusalem (Pennsylvania, Ohio). I think you get the point. They have used their imagination to make a story out of the path of the names of the cities. This is similar to the teaching of the gospel in the stars. Also included in the fear mongering of judgment, is that the X will near the New Madrid fault zone which is most dangerous fault line in the US. Put your seatbelts on as so many are making this a significant celestial event, using it as a platform for prophecy or a special end times sign from God. Does this mean catastrophe is coming? Some are connecting this with the blood moon’s, which certainly adds to their prophetic speculations. A spiritual hysteria is being produced by their interpretations, making it a deadly mix of false teaching. Looking for spiritual meanings by an eclipse for Scriptures fulfillments is speculation and hype.There are a number of outside influences that I’m not mentioning to make this article condensed, but there is far more spiritual tools used then the Bible or what is mentioned in this article, Examples: This being the second total eclipse within 7 years have some refer to Exodus 4:8, when God tells Moses that if people don't believe the first sign, they will believe the second . This was toward Pharaoh who kept Israel captive. In Ex. 8:23 the flies were a sign. It took all ten signs for Israel to be released, as the last was the blood on their doorpost and first sons of Egypt dying. Do we need to have more eclipses as signs? Spiritual imaginations are stretched to their limit and snap as they try to find Biblical applications. Some use astrology saying it’s taking place in the constellation of Leo the Lion, the constellation of the king, which means the king is returning! Seems that old superstitions have gained ground over biblical understanding. Not unlike pagan’s they find this to be an omen, using absurd Tamuldic comments, which is not of the Bible. Get out your Christian decoder ring and join all the speculators, as some even claim an eclipse took place before Jonah went to ancient Nineveh and that one of the reasons they repented. They spiritualize the sign of Jonah, applying it to cities in America. The claim is that the path will go over 7 (maybe 8) cities called Nineveh. Cities named rapture (Indiana) and Jonah (One in Texas, one in Oklahoma) are also used. The are 7 places in America named Nineveh going from west to east. Only two places called Nineveh are inside the path of this total eclipse, Nineveh, Indiana, and Nineveh, Ohio . All the other places called Nineveh will experience a partial eclipse. Is it significant is the path of the Eclipse supposedly travels over Mormon history sites like Kirkland, Payette, Cumorah, Palmyra and others; What are we to make of these? Astrology is also brought into this. That of 6 cities called Nineveh, the eclipse happens above the constellation of Cetus, the whale. As the name “Nineveh” is the said to be the “place of the fish.” An eclipse can bring strange reactions from animals, No doubt people can do strange unusual things too. It can be worse with some humans that find spiritually meanings behind it all. As Jonah was told the people of Nineveh cannot discern their right from their left, may be more of an applicable statement to these prognosticators of natural occurrences. Some relate this to when the sun went dark when Jesus died, that it is being repeated! Except in Jesus’ day it was for 3 hours and was not an eclipse, this eclipse event will have certain areas fully darkened for less than 5 minutes. No comparison should be made of this. Johnny Enlow is one of the promoters of the 7 mountains dominionist teaching for the church. Posts on elijahlist, in his section on ‘August 21 and Romans 8:21, ’says, Aug. 21 (2017 eclipse) is the date 8.21, relating this to Romans 8:21 he applies a Kabbalistic interpretation. He regurgitates the 7 Salem track, stating it is about intervening. And even though he says there are only 2 Nineveh’s in the 2024 eclipses path (the implication is that we will have 40 days?) Enlow actually uses Bible numerology to prove his points on this. EX: using the width of the path 67 miles (Kabbalistic) for Ps.67 and that the sun speaks of God the moon of the church that reflects God. But it’s not for just 1-41/2 minutes and seen only in America! Some say not just the sun will be darkened but the moon turn into blood, making Joel’s prophecy fulfilled. This is not the same as Joel 2:10; Joel 3:15 “The sun and moon grow dark, And the stars diminish their brightness.” In the tribulation period, at the sixth seal, there is a great earthquake that accompanies “the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.”(Rev. 6:12-14) There is no Hebrew word for an eclipse. Some say this may possibly be the only one described in Scripture. Amos 8:9 “That I will make the sun go down at noon And make the earth dark in broad daylight.” (Most likely means the whole Earth is darkened, in context it is connected to Zech.12:10). The darkening of the sun scriptures that take place in the last days are not eclipses but supernatural events. This excitement of reading signs to interpret Scripture will not end with this eclipse. A sign is something unusual, often supernatural. An eclipse is not a sign, it’s not unusual, it is a natural occurrence. Do we need to have an eclipse to know a Tribulation time is coming? Do we need an eclipse to know America (and all nations and people) need to repent? This is no different than other eclipses except for the fact the world is very fragile in its thinking, looking for answers. In this condition we can easily be misled. A spirit of fear or confusion is being produced by those who are interpreting natural signs. As people publically state ‘it is this, or, it is that.’ Even mathematics are applied like kabbalists would do. Since this event is being referred to in Mt. 24:29 (stars will fall from heaven) another sky object that may possibly be visible at the time of the eclipse, is the Comet Pons/Brooks (the "Devil's Comet"), which can add further hype to their conclusions. A diamond ring effect takes place just after total eclipse ends, forming a light ring in the sky (some call a ring of fire). Does this mean the marriage of lamb is about to come? One can use their imagination for just about anything. Listening to these spiritualistic conclusions misleads you away from the literal word God gave us to read. Are these prophetic signs? No, eclipses have been happening throughout history. Finding associations by the path’s width that measures with the square miles the size of New Jersey, with the correlation that Israel is said to be that size, so it has to do with Israel, is just absurd. Their kabbalistic deductions is like the Bible codes, finding secret messages written by acrostic letters in the Word. Luke 11:16-17 “Others, testing Him, sought from Him a sign from heaven.” 1 Thess. 2:4-5 the apostles said, “we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.” Could it be that God is testing you to see if you are guided by his Word or something else, signs or numbers like those who prophecy on the eclipse. 1 Sam. 2:3 “For the LORD is the God of knowledge; And by Him actions are weighed.” Jer. 17:10 “the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind” Ps. 7:9 “For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds” Prov. 17:3 “the LORD tests the hearts.” Ps. 11:4 “His eyelids test the sons of men.” What all this is actually showing us is who the speculators, the mockers and false teachers are. As many false teachers/prophets and bad, even appalling bible interpreters use these events to make a specific prophetic warning, they do exactly what we are told not to do! Jeremiah warns in 10:2 “Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.”Both of these the prophets are promoting. Total solar eclipses occur throughout the world approximately once every 1-2 years, partial solar eclipses several times per year. Consider this just may be an eclipse and nothing more. Calculating the timing by Scripture and messages from natures signs, using kabbalistic numerological methods of interpretation, referring to astrology, spiritualizing meanings are not what we are to do. What about the Word God has given us? This sign does not confirm the Word, they are making the Word confirm the sign. Please consider these scriptures before you go down the mystical road these people are leading you on. 2 Cor. 13:4-5 “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves.” 1 John 4:1 “ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God.” No doubt, many will find whatever happens weeks or months, or even years later as being related to the sign of the eclipse.
