| For in whom do we live? (Acts 17:28) God is the giver of life, the Bible states God is the creator of life, He created life on earth out of the ground, and he is the giver and taker of life. Gen. 1:21: So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves V.24 Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so. V.26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness V.27 So God created man in His own imageRom. 4:17: God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did.1 Tim. 6:13: I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things It amazes me that there are still so many that protest Jesus being divine, deity. Have they considered what the Bible attributes to him? It is crucial to believe in the Son as equal to the Father? 1 Cor. 8:6: yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him We cannot subordinate him and bring confusion to the persons? For the rest of this scripture says and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.Lord is kurious in Greek, as it states in Ps. 50:1 The Mighty One, God the LORD, has spoken and called the earth from the rising of the sun to its going down. Kurious is used for God in the Greek Septuagint of the Hebrew Scriptures. There is so much the Bible says about Jesus being the possessor of eternal life and giving it freely to those who recognize whom He is and receive the good news that he accomplished. John 1:3-4: All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. This is speaking of Jesus as the creator and the life of God was in him. This life comes to us by exercising faith trusting in the gospel He gave to be saved from our sins. John 3:15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John further on make the statement in 3:36: He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. It doesnt matter if you are of another religion or claim Christianity; if you do not have Jesus (the Son) you do not have life. For John states the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us (I Jn. 1:1-2). Peter accused the people of participating and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses (Acts 3:15).Mk. 10:45: to give His life a ransom for many. Jesus says, I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again (John 2:19), This commandment have I received from My Father. Here Jesus states He has the power to give life to His dead body, (receiving this command from another: the Father). How can He do this if he is dead? Can a dead person raise themselves back to life, especially if he is only a human? If Jesus has the power and ability to raise Himself from the dead (He obviously is referring to His body) then He is more than human. Only His God self is capable of doing this, so this is the One who received the instruction, indicating the communion between two persons, both who are deity. Furthermore in I Peter 3:18, Peter states that Christ was Put to death in the flesh, but quickened (made alive) by the Spirit. It distinguishes his death in the body and continuance of life existing in the spirit. To be made alive by the spirit means to have a continued existence but not in the flesh. This is presenting two spheres of His existence. His flesh was without life but in spirit He lived. This is why He was able to participate in raising His own body from death. John 5:21: For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. John 10:17-18: Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father. He received the command but he had the ability because in him was life and the light of men. His death turns into life for all who accept him, have faith in him and his words, For He is life eternal. John 5:24: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. John 5:26-27 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.1 Tim.3:16: tells us God was manifested in the flesh (appeared in). this eternal life was made known through a man Jesus. In John 5:39 He said You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. All the Scripture is about Him. Can it be about an angel, or a man? No - it is about God. Scripture is both Theo-centric and Christo-centric. V. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. They already were alive so this life Jesus is speaking of is different. There are different ways life is used in Scripture. He is speaking of life that will continue in quality after death. So he was not teaching what an atheist, Jehovah Witness or Buddhist would, that believed we cease to exist, He believed we continue. John 6:33-35: For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. Then they said to Him, Lord, give us this bread always. And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. Notice that Jesus said He came originally from heaven and His purpose is to offer life to all, that they can be confident that if they die they will still live. John 6:40: And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day. V.47-48: Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.I am the bread of life. John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? She did. This is the same thing that Jesus spoke in different terms to the people previously John 6:53-54 Then Jesus said to them, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. Our eternal life is in Christ, it is not found in church, in its ceremonies or doctrines. John 10:10: I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. Our eternal Life begins now not later 1 Tim 4:8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. John 6:63: It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. 2 Cor. 3:6 for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life Rom. 8:10-11: And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. We, as believers, have an assurance that goes beyond what we see in this life Col. 3:3-4: For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. This is the true life we wait for, the one where the redemption of the body is realized. Matt 19:16-17: Now behold, one came and said to Him, Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? So He said to him, Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments. The problem is that no one can keep this standard, what man could not do, Jesus did for man. As we stand in him and his merit we have the benefits his position has obtained, eternal life. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. He is the gift of eternal life to the believer, that He is a person, who indwells the believer of the gospel In Christ Jesus is a point of relationship that is focused upon throughout the scripture. Because He indwells us we are also in Him, the body of Christ.Titus 1:2-3: in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior God is our savior- Jesus is the savior, this word is the gospel. 2 Tim. 1:10: but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 1 Tim. 6:18-19: Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. This laying hold means to strive against the world, the flesh and the devil lest we be overcome.V.12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life. We are to know whom we serve and be willing to speak of him when the opportunity presents itself. Christ does not teach for one to come forward and accept him without a commitment of life. This is said over and over again Matt 10:39: He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. John 12:25: He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. As we die to our life and desires we allow Christ to grow and be revealed in us to others. This is the Spiritual life that Jesus spoke of. 2 Cor. 4:10-11: always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.Paul write sin Titus 1:4: To Titus, a true son in our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior. Notice it is from both not just one, these spiritual components which are part of our common faith are integrated with Both the Father and the Son communicated by the Spirit that indwells us who believe. John 17:2-5: as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent [notice this includes Jesus not just the Father.] The same John who wrote this in His gospel writes later in His epistle clarifying the statement 1 John 5:20: And we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ, this is the true God and ETERNAL LIFE.The have the Son is to have life, He is whom we are to believe in because HE is the true God, the one who became a man. This is whom the Father testified of. I Jn. 5:11-13: And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.This is an echo of what John wrote at the end of his gospel. John 20:31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. his name represents him as person, the authority he has. For one to have the eternal life that the Son offers they must believe Jesus is the Son whom is one with the Father, both being the One God. 2 Jn. 1:9: Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. I Jn. 1:2-4: the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us-- that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. In response to Philip asking to see the Father (who is in heaven) Jesus the Son who came to reveal the Father said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me(John 14:6). If you have Jesus as the way and walk in His truth you will experience the life He offers. |
