The serpent and the others sons of God revisited “The original rebel was cast down, expelled from God’s presence to earth and under the earth in the realm of the dead. The fallen sons of God were likewise imprisoned in the underworld .” (Demons: what the Bible Really teaches about the powers of Darkness, Heiser) Then he says the opposite “The fallen sons of God were likewise imprisoned in the underworld.” How is this possible when he also says, “the nations are currently ruled by fallen sons of God, who oppress their populations (Deut32:8; Ps 82:1–5). (Angels: what the Bible Really says about Gods heavenly hosts, Heiser) This becomes convoluted when one tries to piece together the aftermath of Gen.6. Heiser “He then assigned each of the seventy nations to the fallen sons of God (who were also seventy in number). (Deuteronomy 32:8 and the Sons of God p.71)
Again, which is it? 1 Enoch 6–11. … much like Genesis 6: And when the sons of men had multiplied, in those days, beautiful and comely daughters were born to them. And the watchers, the sons of heaven, saw them and desired them.” “The offspring of the Watchers (sons of God) in 1 Enoch were giants (1 Enoch 7). (Unseen Realm) He claims they reproduce sinless humans from fallen Sons of God uniting with fallen humanity. He then says “Even Genesis 6, where the nephilim make their grand appearance, does not say they are fallen.” (The Meaning of the Word Nephilim: Fact vs. Fantasy) Then says the opposite “ do we read that the nephilim sinned . We do get something like that idea from the book of Enoch (1 Enoch), but that isn’t preserved in Hebrew.” (The Meaning of the Word Nephilim: Fact vs. Fantasy) [Heiser points out Enoch is wrong, he explicitly says that they sinned which means they are fallen]. The real problem with the book of Enoch is that Enoch was gone before Noah and the invasion. Jared was 162 years old when Enoch was born and he lived to be 962 years old, which is long before the flood. Enoch was 65 years old when he begot Methusaleh and walked with God another 300 years. Methusaleh at 187 years old begat Lamech. Lamech when he was 182 years old begat Noah. Enoch was 365 years old when he was taken off the earth. We have 69 years after Enoch is taken before Noah’s birth took place. Noah did not beget his children until he was 500 years old which means his offspring was separated from the time of Enoch for 569 years. It is after his three sons are born that it is mentioned the earth is being corrupted. 1Enoch 106:13-17... “ since my father Jared's day, the fallen angels have been sinning . They sin and are promiscuous with women. The Bible records God first telling Noah after Enoch is gone (Gn. 6:13) that He will send a flood, giving mankind 120 more years. It is after this time (Gen. 6 explains) that the time of the invasion of the Sons of God took place. Noah, at the coming of the flood, was 600 years old, so if God said he would give mankind 120 years, it began 20 or so years prior to Noah’s first son’s birth. Heiser’s speculations of Enoch are off the charts, as he refers to 1 Enoch her proposes “ the Watchers appealed their sentence and asked Enoch, the biblical prophet who never died (Gen 5:21–24), to intercede with God for them (1 Enoch 6:4). God rejected their petition and Enoch had to return to the imprisoned Watchers and give them the bad news (1 Enoch 13:1–3; 14:4–5). The point to catch is that Enoch visits the spiritual world in the “bad section of town” where the offending Watchers are being held.” (Unseen Realm) So we have Enoch travelling back and forth to tartarus where they (the watchers) are held. The problem[s] Enoch was long gone to heaven before they invaded, he is not on earth; and that according to the Bible no on in Tartarus is let out until judgment day (2 Pt.2:4). Enoch tells us details of the ship that angels were to have a part in building the ark hundreds of years before Noah was even commissioned. As calculated from Scripture Gn. 6:3-4 It is when the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years ." There were giants on the earth in those days” The book of Enoch is a fraud because it contradicts the Bible record of God first telling Noah after Enoch is long gone (Gn. 6:13) that He will send a flood, giving mankind 120 years because of the corruption occurring. Not to mention all the extra biblical additions in the book of Enoch that contradict scripture. According to Heiser 1 Enoch teaches that demons are actually the spirits of dead Nephilim. There is no verification to prove that the book of Enoch was written in Noah’s time period or transported to Noah; no book was preserved from then. This is more than speculation. The writings were on rocks, tablets until the Mosaic period when papyrus was staring to be used. In Second Temple Jewish texts, demons are the offspring of the watchers (fallen sons of God) released from the bodies of the giants when slain.
Nephilim Heiser states “Despite their unusual size, the biblical text is clear that the giant clan members were human .” (Unseen Realm) How can they be human and then become demons when they die?

“The Nephilim bloodlines were not like the peoples of the disinherited nations. Genesis 10 clearly casts the human inhabitants of those nations as owing their existence to Yahweh, as they descended from Noah’s sons and, therefore, Noah—all the way back to Adam, Yahweh’s first human son. The Nephilim bloodlines had a different pedigree. They were produced by other divine beings (unseen Realm)
Which is it?
Who are the demons?
“1 Enoch teach that demons are actually the spirits of dead Nephilim .” “ Demons were the disembodied spirits of dead Nephilim in Second Temple thought, the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim. the death of the Nephilim and their descendants was the explanation for the origin of demons.” (Demons: what the Bible Really teaches about the powers of Darkness, Heiser) If nephilim were human how can they become demons when they die? Matthew 17:18 states: And Jesus rebuked him; and the demon went out of him:and the boy was cured from that hour.”
Nowhere are we told these are Nephilim spirits in Scripture, NOWHERE! There is absolutely no correlation in the bible to this made up doctrine. Are we to accept Heiser using the book of Enoch and other spurious non canonical writings he quotes profusely from? Matthew 17:18 parallel account is in Mark 9:25 and calls it anunclean spirit. We also find the terms demon and unclean spirit used interchangeably in Matthew 8:16; Luke 9:38-39, 42; 10:17, 20. All having to correlate to being sinful, evil. When Satan fell, the angels who followed him also fell and became demons. Satan was removed out of his position, and these angels were also removed of their positions. There are two kinds of angels, those who serve the Lord and those who rebelled in heaven that are called demons, angels that fell. There are also two kinds of demons, those who are free on earth now, serving as Satan's emissaries and those confined, awaiting their judgment at the Great White Throne judgment. What does Jesus say who they are? Matthew 12:24 states: But when the Pharisees said, This man does not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub the prince of the demons. In this passage Jesus identifies this as Satan, Ephesians 6:11-12 calls him the devil, Revelation 12:7-9: We read of Michael fighting the dragon and his angels in heaven. And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.
Matt 25:41at the judgment when Jesus returns he says 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’
The devil has angels as his army, for he is a cherub, the one they followed that had them fall from their position in heaven before mankind was created.
Heiser writes, “ Enoch was considered God’s mouthpiece by Jewish readers primarily because he was the person who delivered God’s words of judgment to the fallen sons of God after the Genesis 6:1–4 incident (1 Enoch 13–16). The New Testament also reports that Enoch “prophesied,” he then quotes Enoch words in Jude (Unseen Realm)’ Enoch was not on earth at the time of the invasion or Noah’s day.
Not the cause of the flood In his book the Meaning of the Word Nephilim: Fact vs. Fantasy, he states again “ we aren’t even told that the flood was the fault of the sons of God”
But he also says, “Second Temple Jewish literature thus presents us with a matrix of ideas with respect to evil spirits. The corporate divine rebellion of Genesis 6 was a horrific event aimed at the destruction of the people of God and humanity at large. The fallen sons of God (Watchers) corrupted humanity and turned them toward idolatry.” ( ANGELS: WHAT THE BIBLE REALLY SAYS ABOUT GOD’S HEAVENLY HOST, Heiser) Heiser says the watchers are the sons of God, “the crisis of the Watchers is resolved when God sends the flood to cleanse the earth” (Demons)
“That the fallen watchers are punished by God (1 Enoch 10) reveals they were considered subject to divine judgment” (Angels: what the Bible Really says about Gods heavenly hosts, Heiser) “Second Temple Judaism saw the holy ones as imperfect. That the fallen watchers are punished by God (1 Enoch 10) reveals they were considered subject to divine judgment.” ( ibid.)
How then is are they not sinful and being part of the cause of the judgment by the flood? Who are the sons of God- they are fallen Then says the opposite Elohim The word elohim is a ‘place of residence’ term. Our home is the world of embodiment; elohim by nature inhabit the spiritual world.” “If we understand אֱלֹהִים as a semantic label for an entity from the disembodied non-human realm” (MONOTHEISM AND THE LANGUAGE OF DIVINE PLURALITY IN THE HEBREW BIBLE AND THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS) Heiser’s definition of elohim means strictly a “disembodied nature”, which is a completely false interpretation, for idols are called elohim and they are physically made by man. But Heiser will admit that the word elohim is used to refer to humans (who are not disembodied), contradicting himself in nearly every point of his teaching. “ The point of the observation is that in this passage, the ‘sons of El’ are clearly human and not divine.”
“Yahweh alone commands the nations and their gods. Other gods serve him.” (Unseen Realm) But Heiser does not teach this, he takes the position that they oppose God, because they are fallen. In fact he shows no other god serving him “ From this the battle lines between themselves (the gods) are drawn challenging Gods control of the planet ” (Unseen Realm p. 123). both in the same book Man was made by YHWH and other elohim Concerning Gn.1:26 technical research in Hebrew grammar and exegesis has shown that the Trinity is not a coherent explanation.” (The Unseen Realm, p. 39). After his citing Bray’s notes: “ More probable is the idea that God is here speaking to the heavenly hosts.” “The text is clear that the angels did not participate in the creation of humankind. The singular suffix (“so God created humankind in His image”) makes that point as well. There is no contradiction if “let us create” is taken as an announcement of the single Creator to a group.”
Heiser states, “What we have is a single person (God) addressing a group—the members of his divine council.”
“The phrase “one of us” informs us that, as in Genesis 1:26, God is speaking to his council members—the elohim.” (The Unseen Realm)
The bible teaches “So God created man in his own image, in His own image He created them.” He made man in ‘his image’ not theirs (other elohim) according to the Bible. Heiser cites Clines view, which: “ would imply that man was made in the image of the elohim as well as of God Himself (‘in our image’); it would mean that the elohim shared in the creation of man (‘let us make’)” (Clines, “The Image of God in Man ,” 66). Which is it? All this does is bring confusion to the plain reading of the bible. Image of God The image of God as a phrase is applied only to humans in Scripture Therefore, humanity is to be distinguished from the rest of earthly creation, as well as Gods heavenly creation. Heiser calls mankind “imagers of God.”

Heiser says the opposite; “ the divine sons of God created sometime earlier, were also imagers of their creator.” ( Unseen Realm) That the angels are created in the image of God, and implies we are created in both Gods image and theirs. “Like humans, angels are imagers of God” (Image of God)
“Angelic beings are also divine imagers—representatives of their Creator. While humans image God on earth, angelic beings image God in the spiritual world.” (Image of God)
“ the members of the heavenly host are also created imagers of God , representing him in the spiritual world like humans do on earth” (angels).
But how does this fit Heiser’s theological construct that the sons of God have this same image as angels if they are elohim and angels are not elohim? That we are made in Gods and these sons of gods image? The Nephilim He claims the Nephilim become the demons when they die. 1 Enoch teach that demons are actually the spirits of dead Nephilim. says “Demons were the disembodied spirits of dead Nephilim in Second Temple thought”
7:2 they bare great giants—On the basis of Gs, Nickelsburg expands this line: “And the giants begat Nephilim, and to the Nephilim were born Elioud. And they grew according to their greatness.’”146 This in effect creates three generations of giants: the initial giants born to the Watchers and their wives, the Nephilim, and the Elioud. A Companion to the Book of Enoch: A Reader’s Commentary, Volume I The Book of the Watchers (1 Enoch 1–36) He equates the dead giants as the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim. “ the death of the Nephilim and their descendants was the explanation for the origin of demons. Refers to Enochian literature And the giants begat Nephilim, and to the Nephilim were born Elioud.1 (1 Enoch 6:1–7:6) According to the Septuagint the giants are the offspring which are the nephilim.
“The descendants of the first union, the giants of Nephilim, became demons who corrupt mankind (Jub. 7:27) .… Heiser contradicts himself, the giants were the nephilim and we are not told that they had offspring like the sons of God, their fathers.
At no point in Genesis 6 or Numbers 13 do we read that the nephilim sinned. We do get something like that idea from the book of Enoch (1 Enoch), but that isn’t preserved in Hebrew. Additionally, at no point do we read that the nephilim are spiritually fallen as a result of Adam and Eve’s fall from grace. The Fall of Adam and Eve passed on all humans (Romans 5:12), and the nephilim were not normal humans – they were hybridized beings (human + a foreign seed) and so not included in the Fall, at least as Romans 5:12 describes (this assumes the literal view of Genesis 6 – see below). Even Genesis 6, where the nephilim make their grand appearance, does not say they are fallen.” So demons are Nephilim spirits but he also says they are not evil. “ The beings that did the evil act of Genesis 6 were not the nephilim. The transgression in that passage was between human beings and the sons of God . The sons of God and the nephilim are not the same; that latter are offspring of the former we aren’t even told that the flood was the fault of the sons of God, and so how would it be that their offspring, the nephilim, are fallen in the sense of being inherently evil? (The Meaning of the Word Nephilim: Fact vs. Fantasy) In referring to Gn.6 “Scholars agree that the passages are about the same subject matter.10 They describe an episode from the time of Noah and the flood where “angels” sinned.11 That sin, which precipitated the flood, was sexual in nature; it is placed in the same category as the sin which prompted the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah. (Unseen Realm) “Even Genesis 6, where the nephilim make their grand appearance, does not say they are fallen.” (ibid.) So according to Dr. Heiser the Nephilim are not fallen nor evil. But he says they gave mankind occult knowledge. Heiser also states “Anakim giants are the sinister spawn of the nephillim, they are their offspring .” (p.64-65 Supernatural) Heiser also states of these later giants “Despite their unusual size, the biblical text is clear that the giant clan members were human .” (Unseen Realm) How did the nephilim lose their nature of being hybrids from their parents who were the sons of God? " the other clans that spring from the nephilim are the enemies of Israel for sure (like the Anakim), and so could be seen as evil. The giants in the book of Enoch and other Jewish literature composed after the biblical material (as far as the existing texts we know about) are certainly evil." Humanity is not to blame “Human depravity, sparked in Eden by the original rebel, had been inflamed and accelerated by a new rebellion. 21 Divine rebels—supernatural intelligences—are thus blamed for humanity’s descent into self-destruction and idolatry. (Demons what the Bible Really teaches about God’s heavenly host, Heiser) 1 Enoch 65, where Noah despairs over the situation . Humankind will be judged because they have acquired the occult knowledge of the fallen angels—the “satans ” (Demons WHAT THE BIBLE REALLY SAYS ABOUT GOD’S HEAVENLY HOST) Where does the bible teach plural satan’s (Heiser not believe they are angels, but uses this to promote the general theory) The Book of 151 Enoch supports, saying in the seventh chapter that the fallen angels “sinned” against animals as well as humans. thus we have half man and half animals (centaurs) along with hybrid humanity. The Ancient earth “In Israelite cosmology, the flood upon which Yahweh sat was situated over the solid dome that covered the round, flat earth.” “The dome of water was over the whole earth, and it was all released as part of the flood.” He states it this way because he does not believe the flood covered the whole earth but was local in the middle east This statement is taken from his companion book of Enoch and repeated in other books. from thence I went towards the north to the ends of the earth—Enoch has been to the western and eastern “ends of the earth” and is now taken to the third (of four) “quadrants” of the circular, flat, domed earth of ancient cosmology.
Referring to “with early Israelite poetry (Psalm 29:10; Exodus 15:18) that has Yahweh ruling from his seat on the waters above the fixed dome that covers all the nations of the earth (Are Yahweh and El Distinct Deities in Deut. 32:8-9 and Psalm 82?) That the sun and moon were under this dome. Genesis 1:14–18 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vaulted dome of heaven to separate day from night, In his companion book of Enoch he writes the edge of the dome over the earth (the “firmament”) meets the horizon, the boundary of light and darkness.” The itinerary of course makes sense if one is following the “rim” of the place where the sky meets the horizon on the round, flat earth. “ nations under the dome and flood as being under the authority of Yhwh. (Heiser: Co-regency in Ancient Israel’s Divine Council 223) But there were no nations created yet until after the flood! Can you understand how a round flat earth is possible; having day and night and this dome he speaks of ? understand that Heiser defends his teachings categorically denying himself as a Gnostic, the same would be a mystic. regardless of one not being in this category does not dismiss them holding to similarities. To simplify this, I would call this 'confusion' caused by educating himself using outside materials to reinterpret the bible (pagan literature unaccepted books), that certainly cannot be denied. Extra: Heiser’s strange beliefs’ But he has some strange doctrines that expand even further than his unique Bible interpretations from the Ugarit. The World Turned Upside Down: Finding the Gospel in Stranger Things, in relation to the paranormal TV program’ stranger things’ the hit Netflix series as having parallels to the supernatural worldview of the Bible. Reminds me of what was done with Harry Potter and Christianizing his story. There is an “Unseen realm” that is inaccurately portrayed, this is done in nearly every paranormal show, stranger things is no different – it does not depictBible teaching on this at all. Heiser’s made up add to the Bible teachings “Just as Jesus was the second Adam for Paul, Jesus is the second Enoch for Peter . Enoch descended to the imprisoned fallen angels to announce their doom . First Peter 3:14–22 has Jesus descending to these same “spirits in prison” to tell them they were still defeated, despite his crucifixion.” (Unseen Realm) He says this because in 1 Enoch, Enoch visits where the evil watchers are incarcerated when he was actually taken off the earth before they came to the earth. It is not despite his crucifixion but because of it they were defeated. But there is no second Enoch, there is no biblical correlation made in Scripture to be found for this. He uses a made up story of Enoch to make up his point of Jesus. Adding to the Word to make up a doctrine shows what kind of a bible teacher he actually is. This is liberalism, imagination on display. And sorry to say, it brings more confusion than clarity to the Scriptures. The Pharisees, teachings from the second temple period that did not practice Mosiac Judaism, and because of this they rejected the Messiah when he came. They would say this rabbi says this and that rabbi says that, adding their own traditions to the Word. Heiser quotes all these opinions from many people; what about the rabbi we are to listen to – Jesus. Satan is a cunning creature, he is a military strategist, a great deceiver, the most intelligent creature ever created by God, and he can deceive scholars and academics just as easily, maybe more so because they rely on their own intelligence. Satan has the ability to convince people that he is not the devil, even when Jesus said he is. Satan is the deceiver (Rv. 12:9), not just an accuser, or a liar, or destroyer. Understand Heiser teaches there other gods in the Garden of Eden along with Adam and Eve (not just God YHWH) that Eve was tempted by one of these gods that were with God before creation, that “she was conversing with a divine being.” He teaches that Satan (is not the tempter of Eve, even though John the apostle in Rv.12 John says the serpent is Satan. Heiser says sin is not literally passed down from Adam to humanity, then says it is. He states Moses did not write his books (certainly not Genesis); the flood was not worldwide but localized; Angels who follow Satan are not the demons, that demons come from the dead Nephilim. What is his source for all his concepts? The pagan Ugarit and numerous other non canonical unaccepted books that he accepts along with scripture. This is what you are being taught from Dr. Heiser. He can’t keep his confusion under control as presented by these doctrinal topics. Let me conclude with this. 2 Peter 3:15-16 “our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures .” Beware of the mythmakers.
