Another Testament, A different Jesus of Mormonism Since the new series ‘the Chosen’ where Mormons are directly involved in producing, they have launched a campaign to have you think their religion of works is approved by God. The very thing their founder spoke, that you too can become a god is (like all others before him) spoken as the first lie that brought the fall of mankind. This is the basis of their religions revelation, that you can become a god. Not the God (the only true God that exists, the creator of all) but another god which means there are many. Because they are a polytheistic religion, they believe in innumerable gods, not monotheistic as Jesus and the prophets taught, that there is ONLY one God, all others are false. Therefore on this alone they ae not part of historic Christianity from the Bible. Nephi, and also of the Lamanites whom the Mormons claim are of the house of Israel, is not a name you will not find once in the Bible. You have Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites and others but no Lamanites (nor Laman; Laban yes). Clearly the Bible was used to revision its stories for another testament that is false. The book of Mormon history is no different than the book of Urantia, and it is just as false. In their current campaigning they claim Jesus came to America’s. This is not mentioned once in the Bible so it is an addition to the Bible that would be considered a myth. They invite the listener to learn more about this fantasy to be as convinced in their deception as they are. The Bible teaches Jesus was with his disciples for 40 days and they watched him ascend to heaven where we are told He sits at the right hand of the father, until he returns. Exactly when did he visit the Americas, and why would he visit America, and unknown continent at the time? Why not other places? Because they have an invested interest in America and its natives genealogy. They say “The father of that family, Lehi, is a prophet in ancient Jerusalem. God warns Lehi in a dream to take his family and leave Jerusalem, because the city and its people will soon be taken captive by another nation. They cross the ocean to the Americas. So then Lehi discovered America? Unfortunately, there is no such person or story in the bible, There is No lehi, this is a myth invented by the founder and his friends. In the Book of Mormon we read of a large group of people hearing God proclaim, “Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him” (3 Nephi 11:7). This is quote from the Bible that took place in Israel, not America. “God manifested Himself to the people of the Book of Mormon, just as He did to the people of the Bible.” Which they claim is America. The book of Mormon also says “Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations.” So then it was not just America? Which is the truth? One can drill down on any of their claims and find do much more contardictions. In their book which they claim is ‘Another Testament of Jesus Christ,’ (another false Testament like the Urantia book and other occult books). Which is considered more of a different testament by biblical teachers. “The Book of Mormon testifies of and complements the Bible, giving more clarity and understanding to Jesus Christ’s teachings. It’s kind of like in the Bible, how Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John tell the same stories about Jesus Christ from different perspectives and it gives a more complete picture.” No, its kind of NOT like the bible and has many different errors contained in it. For example: “He shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers.” she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God (Alma 7:10.) Regardless of any semantical arguments given, Jerusalem is a city, and it was NOT the place of his birth. Bethlehem was, therefore they have different Jesus because he was the Jesus born in Bethlehem. Matt 2:5-6 in Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: quoting Micah 5:2 'But you, Bethlehem , in the land of Judah,Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.' " Matt 2:7-8 “Herod, sent the wisemen who came to Bethlehem and said, "Go and search diligently for the young Child” John 7:42 Jesus is “from the town of Bethlehem.” They teach from their books that Jesus was born in Jerusalem, not Bethlehem. I ask them was not the name Jesus a common name? If you were world famous and someone were to say they know you, and said you were born in a different town than you actually were, would you say they know you? If you told them they are wrong and they insisted they are not, how does that work out? So could this Jesus born in Jerusalem be a different Jesus? Why say your book compliments the Bible when it does not! he is called Jesus of Nazareth (of Galilee) and not Jesus of Jerusalem? Because when Joseph and Mary came back from Egypt that is where his family settled and he grew up in. Who is their Jesus? The Mormons teach Jesus was a spirit being, another angel, the brother of Lucifer from the same Father. Did Jesus have a mother and father in heaven? Was he a spirit in a family of spirits before he came to earth? I would ask If Jesus was conceived as a result of a physical union between God and Mary as Mormonism teaches, how was Jesus born of a virgin as the bible proclaims? (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 1, p, 50). When Christ died according to the Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 8:19, 23 darkness covered the land for three days. The Bible says it was for the last three hours (out of 6 hours) while he was being crucified until He was said it was finished (Luke 23:44). Why is it that Mormon’s get so many things wrong that are basic? Because they read from another testament. The book of Mosiah teaches us that, “man was created after the image of God” (Mosiah 7:27). This means you were created to look like Him and that He has a physical body.” No God does not have physical body, He is Spirit. God says, “I am God, and not man—the Holy One among you” (Hosea 11:9) “Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, all mankind, even as many as will, shall be redeemed. The Savior began shedding His blood for all mankind, not on the cross but in the Garden of Gethsemane. There He took upon Himself the weight of the sins of all who would ever live. Under that [page 6] heavy load, He bled at every pore," (Russell M. Nelson, "His Mission and Ministry," New Era, Dec. 1999, p. 4, 6, emphasis mine). "Jesus paid for all our sins when He suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane," (Laurel Rohlfing, "Sharing Time: The Atonement," Friend, Mar. 1989, p. 39). This is the official position In the Temple Preparation Seminar Discussion, which is published by the LDS Church, is explained, "...Jesus' greatest suffering in making the atonement for mankind occurred in the Garden of Gethsemane, when he took upon himself our sins, which caused him to bleed at every pore. His suffering at that point was even more intense than when he was put to death on the cross," (p. 18). Why would you change the place of the atonement? Because they read another Testament. If the atonement was in Gethsemane, what then transpired on the cross? Why go to the cross when he bled out in Gethsamane? The shedding of blood had to happen at the right time and the right place but as Mormon, who cares. They make up the story and do not care what the bible teaches except to use words and change their meanings. Is this not a different place than him suffering outside the gate in Jerusalem. sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground, Are not the sacrifice for sin as the lamb. How can he pay for the sins of mankind when they were not laid upon him until the next day when he was crucified? When He became the Passover lamb, and how can he say it is finished if he suffered the day before? Luke 24:7 Did not Jesus say 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.'" Would that not be the 4th day Paul writes in1 Cor 1:18-19 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” Not the message of Gethsemane. This is why we read v:23 we preach Christ crucified Their other Testament called Mormon They say: “We believe the bible as far as it is translated correctly. Many plain and precious truths are lost. "...He (Joseph Smith) has brought forth the Book of Mormon...; has sent the fulness of the everlasting gospel…” I ask if they can show the verses that have been changed from the originals. They can’t. So how do they even know what changed? They can’t. It’s all a made up story and God is showing this right now by his word. Orson Pratt claimed, "Who knows that even one verse of the whole Bible has escaped pollution, so as to convey the same sense know that it did in the original? ...(Divine Authenticity of the Book of Mormon, pp.44-47). That basically what they think of Gods word through the prophets in history. In his book The Seer, Pratt also said, "The Bible has been robbed of its plainness; many sacred books having been lost, others rejected by the Romish Church, and what few we have left, were copied and recopied so many times, that it is admitted that almost every verse has been corrupted and mutilated to that degree that scarcely any two of them read alike" (p.213) J. Smith said “I told the brethren that the book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth and the keystone of our religion and a man would nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than any other book.”(J. Smith history of the church vol.4 p. 461) One can use their made up quotes and ad hominem attacks on Gods word, or just stay with the Bible itself. The choice is yours. How was the book of Mormon translated? J. Smith put the seer stone into a hat, and put his face into the hat to exclude the light, in this darkness something resembling a parchment would appear and on that appeared with the writing one character at a time, each letter by itself. Brigham Young on May 18 1873 said “Take up the bible and compare the religion of the Latter day saints with it and see if it will stand the test.” Ask them if we can do a test on what their prophet said? Of course they will not allow it. Ask them If the original 1830 Book of Mormon was inspired and the most correct book why were there so many changes, both additions and deletions? Isn’t that correcting their book? Mormon Article of Faith #8: "We Believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God." Why do you only add the phrase, "as far as it is translated correctly" to describe the Bible and not apply this to the book of Mormon, when in fact there are far more translating errors in the Book of Mormon than the Bible. In fact there are nearly 4,000 changes The Bible speaks of another Jesus Ask a Mormon how would you know if you have another, or different Jesus than the one in Scripture? Can they admit there is another? (have them answer- by reading the Scripture out loud) the Scripture that warns of another Jesus. They have Jesus not born in the right city, they have Jesus who did not die on the right day or the right way to take away sin. Ask them to read out loud Revelations 22:18-19. It clearly states that anyone who would add to or subtract from the Scripture in any way was in deep trouble with God. Paul said they are anathema, cursed in Galatians. They will claim this is only for the book of Revelation. But it is a principle throughout the whole of Scripture starting in Deut. 4:2 “You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take anything from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” Repeated Deut. 12:32 “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.” The book of wisdom penned by Solomon Prov. 30:6 “Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” This was written long before the book of Revelation. But the Mormons insist that have further revelation that restored the church from being in apostasy. But what was the church restored TO? Not back to the Scripture, in fact they jumped off the cliff into apostasy with multiple gods. Paul writes in 1 Cor. 4:6 “I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other.” Ask them What do you think this means concerning the Scripture? Point out to them, the bible does say there is another Jesus, with a different spirit and gospel and the bible came first, did it not? Have them read out loud 2 Cor 11:4 “if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted--you may well put up with it! Is not your Mormon Jesus, another Jesus according to the Bible? Paul speaks of a different gospel in Gal 1:6-9 “… but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.” The Mormons so want to be accepted coming into the fold another way (Jn.10) for they also have a different gospel which is certainly accompanied by another spirit who gives them a feeling, a burning in the bosom for them to determine what is true apart from the Word of God written by the apostles and prophets. When the bible tells us to believe in by faith (trust) that the Bibles word is accurate. This is why the very foundation of Mormonism shows it is in competition with Christianity and the Bible, and is not another witness. |
