The matter of the Resurrection Jehovah Witnesses will knock on your door, they may not have yet but you can be assured they will one day as they go through the neighborhood seeking those they can proselytize to become Watchtower observant and join their cult group. The most important way to communicate to them is to not enter their religious discussion they are trained in. Instead, ask them questions, ones they are not prepared for, questions you know the answers to. Questions they are not able to explain by their Watchtower’s interpretation they were trained in. The Jehovah Witness does not bring the gospel that saves, but a gospel in name only that promises a future on paradise earth. This salvation is something that they cannot even guarantee for themselves. The point is how does one get to enjoy this paradise? Let me explain why this is a problem. They teach when you die you go out of existence, the soul immediately vacates the body to no longer be. Even Jesus went out of existence. “Jesus was dead, he was unconscious, out of existence. Death did not mean a transition to another life for Jesus; rather non existence.” (Awake p.27 July, 22 1979) So what will be resurrected? The body? NO. It is eventually disintegrated and its atoms have become part of other living things. They teach of “the soul,” when the body dies it goes out of existence. Which is very materialistic and denies the clear teaching of the Scripture. Their explanation on what is a resurrection is a reactivating of the life pattern of the individual which is retained in God’s memory. It needs to be recreated because it no longer exists. Now on this point one can refer to their own quotes, or preferably, use the Bible only. A reminder that if you use the Bible, always have them read the Scripture out loud, you should say as least as possible. To teach them truth you ask questions with the Bible and expect a Bible answer. So we ask the questions on the resurrection, which is the third point of the gospel message that saves. For without it, even if you say you believe in Jesus you do not have the gospel. Ask them were not all the resurrections recorded in Scripture physical? Did not Lazarus come back in his same body? What of Jairus daughter? Why would Jesus’ resurrection different than all the examples in the Bible? Does it not say he is the firstfruits of the resurrection? Why does Paul use Jesus' resurrection as the model for all Christians who have died. If Jesus did not rise from the grave in a physical body then what is the significance of his empty tomb? Why does Stephen say to Jesus while he is being stoned just before he dies, "receive my spirit"? (Acts 7:59). How could Jesus receive Stephen's spirit if his spirit ceases to exist when his body dies? Have them read Jn.2:19-21 where Jesus says “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up again in three days“… “he was speaking of the temple of his body.” Did Jesus misrepresent what he would do after he dies? He says the same body he was in will be raised up. By him, He will do this. How does one accomplish this fact if they are out of existence? Continue to Ask LOGICAL QUESTIONS TO REFUTE THEIR OWN BELIEF SYSTEM. Have them read John 10:17-18 OUT LOUD "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life thatI may take it again."No one takes it from Me, butI lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father." Ask them who has the power to raise the body up? They will start addressing that he received the command from the Father. However his complicates it even more. Just as he lays down his body willingly He does so taking it up. How do you take up your own body again if you do not exist? It says He does this raising. It is absolutely impossible to do this if one no longer exists. How do you bring something back to life that is no longer existing. Acocrding to their own teaching God has to create it all over again, by memory. If something no longer exists then you are making a copy. To be accurate God is not taking what is dead and raising it back to life. He is making a duplicate, acounterfeit of the original. |
