Good vs. Evil

Most people understand the difference of good and evil as they learned of this in their personal lives, but they have trouble identifying it when it not personal and is directed to a wider range of people.

Scripture describes this also ass Light versus darkness, as evil versus good.

The Bibles definition of righteousness…

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Gods throne (Ps.97:2)

Ps 94:20-21 “ Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, Have fellowship with You? They gather together against the life of the righteous, And condemn innocent blood .”

Hag. 2:22 'I will shake heaven and earth. I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms.”

Isa 66:1 “ Thus says the LORD: "Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. To practice and produce evil challenges God rule from heaven of whom God has rule over on earth.

As believers we are to be as separate as possible with things that promote sin and evil. Evil is more easily recognizable when you know what is good, and of God. If you do not know this you will participate in sin and evil sooner or later.

Paul write sin Eph. 5:11 “ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.”

All Christians that are walking in the Spirit will be repulsed by the works and words of darkness, foremost are lies and anything else that is the opposite of God’s nature and kingdom.

We read, Col 1:13 “ He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love”

Eph. 5:8 “ For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light”

We must try everyday to resist the infringement of the worlds influence on us each day, this is our daily spiritual warfare.

The world is in darkness, in sin and in the grasp of the wicked one.

This is why John writes of Jesus being incarnated John 1:4-5 “ In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

He later records “ And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light , because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light , lest his deeds should be exposed .” (John 3:19-20)

Luke 11:34-36 " The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. "Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. "If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light."

Jesus is explaining how we see things, what we look and seek. We are to be filled and controlled with the Word which is light, truth, especially in these last days. Light at the time this was dependent on oil, which is used as a synonym for the Holy Spirit. He is the one that gives us light as He works the nature of the Son in us. The parable of the 10 virgins at the end tells us about those who awoke from sleep and found they lacked oil, they became frantic to have light and be ready to meet the Lord, 5 failed in this endeavor

John 11:10 " But if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him."

Without Spiritual light of the Word we cannot walk the narrow path and will not be resistant to the influences of the darkness that are continually active in the world.

Luke 22:53" When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness."

There is a time coming where very little mention of Jesus will be on earth.

John 9:4 " I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”

Acts 26:18 only the gospel gives light to our spiritual condition.

Rom 13:12-14 “The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

The only thing that is keeping this world from complete darkness is the light, which we allow to rule in us.

Matt 27:45 “ Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land .” When Jesus took the sin of the world upon him, the world itself became dark, a literal pronouncement of judgment upon him in our place. It literally showed mankind’s condition. In the end because of judgment this type of darkness will occur, spiritually and physically upon all the earth.

The phrase ‘the hour’ is used to identify and distinguish a time, lets look at a few examples.

Luke 22:14 “ When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him.”

It speaks of a timing for a fulfillment.

John 12:23 But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.”

John 17:1 “ Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,”

In the last years come to be commenced, when our world system will be under a false Christ we are promised Rv. 3:10 “ Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.”

This promise is to both the living and those who have died that have believed in the Messiah. The taking away of those living along with those to be resurrected John 5:25-26 “ Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.” (1Thess. 4)

For the world they will be left with the greatest false Messiah the world has ever seen. 1Thess. 5:2 “ For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.”

This day comes upon the world suddenly, but for those who are awake, Paul goes on to say ‘
