Genesis 6 and the new mythology of the Nephilim The UFO issue has become larger than expected as so many have come forward saying this is really taking place, we are being visited. Presently there are too many questions with too few answers. It is also intruding in Biblical interpretations, as many are using it as an explanation for what took place in Genesis before the flood. The UFO pursuit is not going away anytime soon, in fact it is escalating. There are those who seem to be inching toward a Biblical explanation. A GOP Rep Who Got Classified UFO Briefing Says They Could Be ‘Angels’ From Another Dimension, this is probably as close as they will get to the truth. As many try to explain this by human reasoning, it will be mostly shreds of truth combined with fantasy, and sci-fi legends. Apparently, these creatures are not so good at flying their craft, because they crash. Which makes one assume they are not from far away at all. How can they navigate flying millions of miles in space only to arrive here and crash. One may wonder who is driving, and where they got their license. And; why is it that most of the time when they appear to people they are without clothes and are androgynous? Having said this, I do not prescribe to these beings as the offspring of the sons of God called Nephilim. In trying to keep the explanation in a biblical context, here is basically why I have come to this conclusion, the Bible teaches only 8 survived the judgment of the waters, and they were on the ark. There is nothing said about any animal or creature off the ark that survived. As God pronounced in Gn. 6:17 “all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die.” Nor through the ark as one of the wives of the sons of Noah (which William Branham taught, as the Cain offspring.) Then who are the Sons of God and who are the Nephilim? There are basically a few views on whom the Sons of God are that violated the women (Gn.6) of which the flood ensued from God as a judgment. Sons of Seth- The scriptures always refer to someone being righteous from obedience to God, not by their physical posterity (bloodline) or what family they are in. Why would all the Sethite men be considered godly and then act as a whole group as ungodly, taking women by force? “godly men” do not take wives by force, nor do they produce all ‘giants’ as their offspring. So this becomes a weaker unfitting explanation. Angels- Sons of God is the term used for angels in their original creation (as mentioned in Job) strictly in the Old Testament. Job 1:6; 2:1 each time the sons of God present themselves in heaven, Satan is there also. “a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.” Why was he among them, because he was once their chief, and now because of his division has 1/3rd of them under his leadership. Without the fact of their being two different angelic groups distinguished in Scripture, fallen and unfallen, the gn.6 passage cannot be explained. It is clear that no godly angel would forcibly take women. Many wonder how can angels have sex with a human or have this ability to be physical. Angels by nature are invisible spirit beings, yet they are able to change, to be seen and become physical on earth. The Bible does not explain to us how this occurs. There are also some other factors to consider as an explanation. This may be the first case of demon possession. A demon can inhabit a person and give them unusual strength and powers beyond any normal human ability. They can even give someone psychic abilities, visions that look like the future. Instead of a creature becoming visible and physical to have sex it may be explained by demon possession that affected their offspring. I’m not saying this is how it exactly occurred but it can be one of the acceptable explanations. Aliens- These Sons of God were occupants of heaven and possibly other worlds. They can loosely be considered in our modern genre, as beings from another planet. Considering the beliefs we hold in our day they are more likely to try and pass themselves off as such. Scripture says they left their place of habitation and trespassed on earth. Jude 6 “the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.” God gave mankind a short amount of time before he sent the deluge; 120 years. The length of this was near what it would be for a new generation for men to have children, approximately one generation. The Scripture defines the Nephilim (Nephal means fallen in Hebrew, im at the end is in a plural form) as the offspring of the sons of God who took human women by force to propagate. (Later on as God developed Israel he tried to keep them separate and not marry outside to end up accepting other gods and ways to live) There is a lot of speculation and theories on the Nephilim, much of it is not based on sound bible teaching but are rumors, human and even occult assumptions that are more like fantasy, which give credence to the ancient legends. To unravel all this falsehood and even nonsense that is circulating, takes time. The offspring’s of the Sons of God are called giants in the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew Old Testament. This has become a hot topic in Christian circles with those fascinated with ancient history and even those in the New Age Movement. Sometimes both meet in agreement. Some think they have uncovered revelation that explains things of the ancient past better. The common denominator is the use of the non canonical book of Enoch which is filled with spurious and inaccurate teachings not found in Scripture. (The book of Enoch compared to the Bible, which had these giants hundreds of feet tall). One of the many Biblical problems the book of Enoch 7:12 “Whose stature was each three hundred cubits.” 1 Enoch describe the giants as “three hundred cubits.” A cubit being 18 inches would make them 450 feet tall. That’s quite a growth spurt! And is unacceptable. Certainly we see the myths and legends that come from this ancient time period being revived. People are wanting answers and will take what they can. The Bible speaks of their offspring as being called ‘men of renown,’ some knowing their names were preserved in different cultures; being called ‘the gods’ who came down from heaven. Certainly this is something the Devils angels would approve of and want to be called. However, too many have made a mountain out of a molehill on the Nephilim subject. What this shows is that some are willing to believe just about anything on a theory that is haphazardly strung together. Nephilim comes from the Hebrew word nephal ‘fall/fallen’. Some dispute this, but they are wrong. It is translated in Greek to the word giants (gigantes-i.e. titans) in the Greek Septuagint. So when their fathers who are called the ‘sons of God’ interacted with other humans, specifically women, they brought forth children (called Nephilim, their offspring; i.e. giants). They are limited to be only male offspring, (called men of renown; famous Gn.6:4), there are no females are mentioned. These unusual offspring’s came from the women, called giants (it can mean size or power and ability, or both). Which is a strong argument that the Sons of God (their fathers) were not human, The sons of God doing this trespass and produced unusual humans makes sense, as the fallen angel's nature is greater than humanity, able to produce this unusual offspring in every woman they took. This is where many scholars well studied on this subject say they tried to corrupt the human gene pool to stop the prophecy of Gn.3:15 from taking place. If there is no more pure humanity can god become a human to save them? They were expecting that God would not judge them, or mankind harshly by a flood. However this was something so evil and devastating to us, as evil escalated Gen 6:5-7 tells us what God thought “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth” He decided to send a flood. Notice how Jude describes these angels, Jude 6-7 “And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” He makes a correlation to Sodom and Gomorrah, of those who “gone after strange flesh” We read that after Jesus' death, he first descended before he ascended. “He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah , while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.” (1 Peter 3:19-20) He did this because these spirits were the very ones that were trying to prevent him from being born and He showed he was victorious in all that God wanted to accomplish. II Peter 2:4-5 speaks of the confinement of these angels (sons of God) as being Tartarus, not the Abyss section of Sheol (Gr. Hades), nor Paradise, which was a temporary place of confinement for the saints at the time. These sons of God (angelic creatures) are confined in Tartarus which is a confinement for these certain angels and punishment for their activity. A necessity so they could not repeat the sin again with women after the Flood. Some have departed from an accepted Biblical view on this (one of many) to a mythological view, adding in what they can glean from outside the Bible to interpret the Bible. Teaching the church that the Sons of God, and their offspring continued, and are returning again. Both Jude and Peter identify these same one time heavenly offenders of mankind went directly to Tartarus and are kept there until they are brought before the Lord in the Great White Throne Judgment and then will be put in their permanent residence, the lake of fire. They saw Nephilim? What about what we read in Numbers 13:33, the unfaithful spies saying the Nephilim reappeared after the flood is not possible. First lets address the statement in Gn.6 they were “on the earth in those days—and also afterward”—this does not mean after the flood but until the flood. After which the new world began. There are those who interpret this afterward” as meaning after the Flood when Noah’s family was reproducing the population of the earth. There were NO Nephilim after the Flood. Where would they come from? Some say one of the son's wives on the ark were Nephilim! Why would God allow one of Noah’s wives, being a Nephilim or even carrying the gene to be saved if this was the very reason for the flood. The Bible makes the point of Noah being “perfect in his generations.” This refers to him and his family being untouched in his lineage or moral character. His sons were not tainted who would pass the seed on. Besides, all of mankind would have quickly been corrupted all over again. Then God did not fully resolve the problem by the flood and God would have to judge the world again soon after. Since all of humanity came from Noah’s sons that would mean all of us would be infected. Christ is our blood relative who also descended from Adam and came by Noah; all human beings are of “one blood” (Acts 17:26). This would mean Christ was also tainted, not something we want to entertain as doctrine. Noah was completely uncorrupted in his lineage, and why would God allow those who corrupted the whole human race to be able to reproduce again” If these Nephilim are from Noah’s sons there would be fewer normal size people born but giants. The Bible teaches us that after the flood, there could never be any more Nephilim produced– because all of the sons of God who had the Nephilim as offspring were imprisoned. And all of the existing Nephilim were killed along with the rest of mankind (except for those in the ark, 8 humans). God stated in Gen 7:22-23 “All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. … Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive.”We need to believe what is written. The spies mention Nephilim ‘Now the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation complain against him by bringing a bad report of the land, those very men who brought the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the Lord’ (NKJV).’” We need to understand that the spies brought back a bad, or “evil” report (Hebrew dibbah, meaning “to slander, whisper, or defame”) they claimed that the large people they saw, known as the sons of Anak were descended from the Nephilim (Num. 13.1-2, 33; Joshua 11:22). They may have seen some Anakim there, giant people, (still debatable) but they were NOT Nephilim, for we read the report was slander. If the spies genuinely witnessed giant people in Canaan their fear may have had them assume they saw the Nephilim, or they used it as an excuse not to go to battle. The descendants of Anak DO NOT come from the Nephilim. For the Bible says all of humanity comes from one of Noah’s 3 sons. None of Noah’s sons were Nephilim; No genetic mutation, hybrid man was passed down from Genesis after the flood. If any of the sons (or wives) had Nephilim DNA then we all do, because this whom we are ALL descended from. Not a comforting conclusion that some come to. As Acts 17:26 states “He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth.” Again, scripture says the Nephilim all died with all the humans and animals in the flood. God was trying to preserve and keep pure the human gene pool not corrupt it. Who were the descendants of Anak? They were large men that were named on purpose by the 10 spies as Nephilim to connect them to the pre-flood offspring of the sons of God to bring fear to the Israelites, as they were instructed to take the land and did not want to fight. This is why God judged the nation so severely because they listened to the spy's lie. The Lord had them wander the wilderness for 40 years because they listened to these men. Just because the 10 spies said they saw Nephilim does not mean it was true, we have far more evidence it is inaccurate than accurate. Did they see some giants, yes, but to connect them to Nephilim of which the flood would have completely wiped out is clearly an overreach. In fact, it makes God's word to be inaccurate. For if they survived the flood they certainly would be with us today. We would have to call anyone 7 ft. tall or more in our day a Nephilim. The “giants,” were destroyed by the Israelites during their invasion of Canaan (Joshua 11:21–22). Later in Israel’s history: we read in Deut. 3:11: “For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon” (1 Samuel 17). Josh 13:12 all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants; for Moses had defeated and cast out these. Og was not called a Nephilim as the 8 spies called those in the land. These large men are specifically called “the remnant of the giants” in the scripture, not Nephilim; this certain group was dying off. But we should not confuse this word for giants with Nephilim, which was a unique occurrence one time in history. Yet we still have giants (men and women) today, in the same manner we have undersize people. Here is a Video on Real Life Human Giants. It’s hard to tell what is actually real and fake these days but as we see these giants, when someone is really tall they are often frail which does give impetus to size being a human condition
Putting aside the theories of whom they the sons of God are (angels or not) and taking the Bible for what it says there are still a few point’s that need to be ironed out. What about offspring’s of angels? We are told at our final transformation we will become incorruptible, we as humans will be like the angels, for angels do not reproduce. But let’s look at this scripture more carefully. It says in Matt. 22:30 “For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.” Specifically, angels of God, those that reside in heaven do not reproduce. Also in Mark 12:25-26 “For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.” In other words, Gods angels do not reproduce among themselves, these angels of God are obedient and their number has stayed the same since the rebellion in Heaven by Day Star. But what of those who were disobedient and followed Day star (who became the Devil, called Satan/ Lucifer Rv.12 Job 38:7 “and all the sons of God shouted for joy? The point made here is that the sons (who is a general term for angels) were once united in the ancient past watched God’s work, but they are not united any longer. Jesus said in Matt. 25:41-42 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil (Satan) and his angels.” The devil according to the Scripture is a fallen cherub called Satan who has a group of different angels that followed his rebellion and that becomes the cause of God creating the lake of fire. Rev 12:7-8 “Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.” Gods angels are always at war with the devils angels, but there comes a day, midway in the tribulation, Satan and his angels will be confined to the earth. As he rules mankind as the last human dictator through mans last government. Mankind will welcome them under the anti-christs rulership, certainly this could be part of the deception that is being laid out today, even by Christians who teach church dominionism. There is a distinction made of the angels of God and Satan’s angels. The Bible describes different type of angelic species, and some may not all be described. We know the Bible distinguishes at least three types or kinds; Cherubim, Seraphim and Angels. Cherubim are creatures that look very unusual. Can an angel have 4 faces? No, but a Cherub can. Ezekiel describes the 4 faces of a Cherubim. Ezek. 1:5-11 “Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures. They had the likeness of a man. Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings. …their feet were like the soles of calves' feet. The hands of a man were under their wings on their four sides; and each of the four had faces and wings. Their wings touched one another. ..the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a man, each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an eagle. Thus were their faces.” Again in Ezek. 10:14 “Each one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, the second face the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.” We also find in Ezek 41:18 describing “Each cherub had two faces” So from Ezekiel’s description the face of Cherub there are two types, two and four faces. Satan the chief cherub was formerly "the anointed cherub” (Ezek. 28:14) is this type of angel. Some say a two faced type (pun intentional) The Seraphim are angelic creatures shown as serving in the presence of God and are distinguished by having six wings, while regular angels have no wings. There is no reason to believe that God’s angels (not fallen), true sons of God forcibly took women to have offspring, but the fallen angelic creatures who are in the category of Sons of God can do this. Angels appear as men when they come to earth they can become physical. The angelic creatures that came in Genesis are called ‘sons of God,’ which is a general term for angelic type beings/ angels. They were either a special angelic species, or a type that we do not know of, a whole group of a certain type of angelic creature that is not longer with us. This event in Genesis 6 was such a violation to Gods created order that it altered mankind’s course and necessitated a worldwide flood. In all of history it has not been repeated, which may explain the incarceration of these particular angels are unable to repeat the act. Since it says they left their place of habitation, we know that it was not this planet they originated on. “The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them: the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.” The offspring produced a hybrid race of fallen one (Nephal) that had human-like characteristics but were also superhuman in certain respects. The Hebrew translators that changed this word to gigantes in Greek were communicating to us their ability, not size. Which present the ancient stories of Titans in Greek, Roman mythology, and other civilizations. (This makes more sense that the word giants are just about stature but instead power and intelligence, ability; or possibly both). Being fallen creatures and being angelic, does seem to fit all the stories. Identifying what type of angel (angel, seraphim or cherubim) or something else we are not made aware of is always possible. Is there is a remote possibility they could a whole other angelic group that is fallen and repeating this same offense today that these fallen angels did in Gn.6? As unlikely as it seems, it is an outside possibility. To think they are creatures are from another planet, disregarding they can be angelic can certainly confuse their identity, which may be to their advantage and be what they want us to think. This supports evolution and goes against the Genesis creation account. We must consider the pieces of evidence we find left behind and the horror stories told of the interaction with humans and animals to help identify what they are.
