Discipleship Directory--The Core Doctrines of Christianity For us to grow and be fruitful we must have a correct, truthful understanding of God's Word so it can be lived by us. There are doctrines that we are to adhere to, having the Christian distinctive. This separates us in have a personal relationship to the Lord whom we follow. These teachings are of the utmost importance for believers to learn so they can keep on the narrow path. As Paul prays for the church in Col. 1:9-10 to "be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may have a walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God While the world understands Christianity as a religion, God explains it as a personal relationship to him, as a spiritual life that we grow and mature in by keeping to His Word. Learning the truth in a world that is filled with what is false, in all facets of life, but especially in what relates to God. The Word is spoke of as light for good reason, as the world is described as being in darkness, a fallen state. We have a light to guide us and show us the way in life through this world, that will in the end bring us into the Lords presence, forever. These articles are short and contain main points to give the basics that will hopefully help those who have begun their walk with Christ Jesus and grow in maturity, to know truth from error and be kept (Matt.7:25; Jude 12). The intention is to learn the truth being disciples of Jesus by his word. As explained in Eph. 4:13-14, that "we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men" By our keeping in the Word it gives us a better perspective of the times we live (Jude 3-4) and how we can hold to the faith delivered to all the saints from the beginning. John 14:23-24 "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me."
Rom. 10:17-18 "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
We are to continue hearing and trusting in his word.
If we want to be fruitful, we are to take to heart 1 Tim. 4:15-16,
"Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your
progress may be evident to all. Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine.
Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those
who hear you." Articles Understanding the Word by interpreting the Word correctly Where do we begin learning Scripture? What is faith and its relationship to the Word? The basic Core doctrines; the Christian distinctive |
