p.1 TRADITIONS- We are to take the bible as priority not a man in place of Christ. Acts 17:10-11 “ the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”` If these men of the synagogue tested Paul, the apostles by the word then why do Roman Catholics not test their teachers in the church? It becomes clear that this was the procedure in Judaism to keep themselves PROTECTED from false prophets. It also explains that sola Scriptura was what God taught, that when you hear something new, that claims it is a prophecy is fulfilled, they went to the Scripture that was available to them. Paul did not challenge them telling him not to question him as people in the cults do, he welcomed it and even commended them for doing it. Acts 17:13 “But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came there also and stirred up the crowds.”Who were these Jews? They were those not part of this synagogue they were likely the Pharisees who opposed Christ teachings as the truth, who traveled around to cause problems to the gospel. We can assume this is the case if we go back several verses. As Acts 17:1-7 tells us “ they came to Thessalonica , where there was a synagogue of the Jews. Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, "This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ." And some of them were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas. But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar and attacked the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, "These who have turned the world upside down have come here too .” Rome that hijacked the Christianity that was a natural formation from Judaism, made it into a Gentile/adoption of pagan ideas, Christianized them, that disguised the truth. The apostles reputation had preceded them as the story of Jesus went out to his brethren everywhere. John records what Jesus said, 14:23-24 “ If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me.” God did not give us an image, not a movie or a play to be acted, but the Word to read. This is still His way to know of him. Roman Catholicism with its repeated visible illustrations keeps one from learning the Word which Jesus spoke as priority for knowing and following him. The distraction is that their church which is dressed to impress. John 8:31-32"If you abide in My word , you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 5:21- 24 “For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will. For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” Compare his words to what the Roman church tells us about their later traditions.In fact through history they prevented people from reading God’s Word and tried to limit to their priests having control, hearing everyone’s confessions. John 17:11-12 “Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.” Who is the holy father ACCORDING TO Jesus the Son? He is God, the creator. Isa 12:4 “ Praise the LORD, call upon His name;Declare His deeds among the peoples,Make mention that His name is exalted.” Ps 148:13 “For His name alone is exalted” Yet it says in Ps 138: 2 “For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.” Ps 18: 30 “As for God, His way is perfect;The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. Prov. 13:13 “He who despises the word will be destroyed,” The word is said to be Jesus, who is God that spoke things into existence as the creator. Luke 4:4 as Jesus refer to Deuteronomy It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God . 1 John 1: 1we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life 1 John 2:7 The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. Meaning they learned the word from the Tanach, the Old Testament as Jesus asked the people over and over" Have you not read” John 7:38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.As the word Says not as tradition says. And that is what the Lord wants us to understand. It is the same from when it was first delivered. Any church that does not respect the word of God written does not respect Jesus. They made the traditions, their words as equal to it , added throughout the centuries. P.2 |
