The two princes of Daniel 9:24-27 Gabriel says to Daniel ( 9:24) “Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.”So it is explained to Daniel it will take the 70 weeks, the full amount of time to complete and accomplish the prophecies and bring God’s righteous kingdom on earth. He then further gives details on how the 70 weeks would be divided by certain events. The vision of the 70 weeks totals 490 years (70 x 7). These Seventy Sevens are sectioned into three portions: 1. seven sevens, 2. sixty-two sevens, combined to be 69 weeks. Weeks is a heptad in Greek. 3. The last seven (70th) is separated from the other two portions that are combined; it is put aside, reserved f other last days. "Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem Until Messiah the Prince,There shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; The street shall be built again, and the wall,Even in troublesome times.”This brings the timing to Herod’s reign which fulfilled. A prince is often a son of a monarch, a kings son.‘the prince of peace.’ who gives us peace with God (in our hearts). according to Isaiah 9:6-7 The government (which is of peace) will be upon His shoulder.”Upon the throne of David and over His kingdommeaning he rules over Israel. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end,” In other words once it begins it will go through eternity. The other prince is the false messiah who is to come, who is an imposter to the true one who came and gave his life for the people. Daniel 70 weeks contain six requirements in his prophecy. The 70th week, cannot come to its end until ALL of these events have taken place. 1. “to finish the transgression.” The word translated “transgress,” means to rebel(against God) . 2. To make an end to sins, to wickedness and the wicked ones (Isa.13:9, 24:19-20), this includes both Jews and Gentiles. V.26-27 "And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;as Isa. 53:8 says, He “was cut off from the land of the living.”He comes as the lamb, the substitute for our sin. “And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. We learn that Jesus as the first prince mentioned he is cut off from life,And a certaingroup of people will come to conquer there city and the temple which took place in 70 AD .The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week; But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate." Here we are told that it begins with the city and sanctuary destroyed as it was done in 70 ad.it will end with a full invasion(a flood) as wars take place the whole extended time until the very end He one weerk; is the signing of a 7 year peace treaty with Israel is initiated by the one called anti-Christ (Dan.9:27 he is the prince that shall come vs. 26.) This covenant being signed begins the tribulation, the judgement period on the world, and test Israel (the last 7, the 70th week). The prophets spoke of a time of great suffering coming, which will be far more devastating than the Holocaust. It will be a fire of purification for Israel (their affliction) to bring forth a remnant 1/3 survive *(Zech 14). This time of distressis called “the time of Jacob's trouble” (Jer. 30:7). Why call it the time of Jacob's trouble? Jacob wrestled with God before he was renamed Israel. The remnant of Jacob, will also wrestle with God, abandoning their unbelief that will bring about their salvation (Zech 12:10; Rom.11.) Dan. 12:1 “And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time.”Jesus says, “there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matt 24:21-22). How bad will this be? Isa.13:12 “I will make a mortal more rare than fine gold, A man more than the golden wedge of Ophir.”body> |
