Preacher, what are you preaching- Michael Youseff Michael Youseff was one of the few preachers on TV during Covid speaking of Jesus being ‘the way,’ I commend him for this , however we should learn more about what this TV evangelist actually believes. It’s not that he has everything wrong, there is a lot right, but there is enough error to know there is something awry. And it is enough to mislead. Youseff is the senior pastor of the Church of the Apostle in Atlanta, Georgia, and the executive president of ‘Leading the Way,’ ministries. Yuoseff is A former Egyptian who Ph.D. in social anthropology from Emory University and degrees from Fuller Seminar and Moore Theological College. I know that many teachers who teach correctly that end up on TBN, this is a NETWORK No one SHOULD BE EVEN LOOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH. They have promotion links for Youssef:
TBN has long been a safe place for ‘false teachers’; to congregate and get their Youseff condemns these same things in his sermons. Paul tells us to expose, not ignore the deeds of darkness and name names to identify for the protection of the body of Christ. Since TBN is where they congregate (not the only place), will Mr. Youseff be willing to name anyone on TBN to be a false teacher, for us to avoid? Some of His beliefs posted are biblical. But for all the right things he may say, there are still some points that are bothersome that do not add up. His church called The Church of The Apostles is an independent non-denominational church 11with Anglican roots. They say, We stand in the Anglican tradition . The Anglican Church began in the early 16th century, primarily during the reign of King Henry VIII. In 1534, King Henry was a defender of Catholicism. As Anglicanism developed it compromised with Roman Catholicism and Protestantism. The English Church remained Catholic in doctrine, but the influence of the wider Protestant Reformation brought its influence. Lutheran and Reformed theology began to shape England’s religious identity. Rejecting papal supremacy, the Church of England did hold to the authority of Scripture, justification by faith, but retained much of the liturgical structure, hierarchy, and sacramental theology of Catholicism. Finding a middle ground. The evangelical Anglican Church sees infant baptism to be more than a mere dedication of the baby. Except when asked to be a member , do if I have to baptize my child in the church of the apostles? Answer: Yes. This is a covenant baptism, and the parents of the child must be members…infant baptism service is a covenant-making service. However for an adult this service is not a covenant-making service as much as it is a public testimony of one’s salvation They hold to the sacraments of baptism and holy communion. The Eucharist where Christ’s presence is given in the bread and wine just like Roman Catholicism. What does the Anglican church teach? Anglican is a blend of both Catholic and Reformed. (which are opposites in as many ways as there are similarities.) Certain the catholic patterns of governance, sacraments, and practices. Anglicans also practice five other “sacramentals” or lesser sacraments: Confirmation Penance (John 20:22-23) Ordination (Acts 6:6, 1 Timothy 4:14, 5:22, 2 Timothy 1:6, Titus 1:5) Matrimony (Ephesians 5:22-33) Unction of the Sick (James 5:14). Anglicans also read the Apocrypha but not for doctrine. On Israel Anglicans pass on the hotly debated Palestine - Israel resolution - Anglican Journal they will not side with Israel, the land of Jesus the APOSTLES and his people. When we look at his associations in ministry Michael Youssef, Director of Leading the Way Ministry founded Apostles Church in Atlanta, is a member of the Anglican Church in North America. His partner in the UK Anglican Church is Canon Rev. Dr. Alan Kerbey. We also have Mike Pence, David Jeremiah endorsing Micheal Youseff. https://youtu.be/JpcDUJ9hnA8?t=41 The greatest concern to me is Youseff’s full endorsement of Augustine of the Catholic Church . Augustine of Hippo(From N. Africa) 354-430 AD was the main theologian of the early Roman church. Augustine had many false doctrines and helped lay the foundation for the formation of the Roman Catholic Church that we see today. The medieval Catholic church built its eschatology on Augustinian amillennialism, the concept that Christ currently rules the earth through this church, believing the millennium has already begun. For this reason Rome has honored Augustine as one of the “doctors of the church.” Augustine is identified as an EARLY CHRISTIAN GNOSTIC, who allegorized Scripture and prophecy incorporated as the interpretive manner of Scripture into Roman church doctrine. Augustine rejected the plain sense of Scripture replacing it with allegorical meanings because he was unable to reconcile them. He formed the allegories, one was for Amillennialism. Reinterpreting the Prophecies of Scripture and Israel as MEANINGLESS. Augustine’s Amillennialism … taught we are in the millennium “This binding of Satan began when the Augustine as one of the fathers or is the father of A-millennial theology. The Church’ IS the kingdom of God foretold in such Scriptures as Daniel 2 and 7 and Revelation 20. In his book the City of God Augustine often referred to Matthew 27:25 with the eternal curse on “the Jews.” In his book Augustine was the first person to teach that the Catholic church is the Messianic kingdom and that the Millennium began with the first coming of Christ. ‘Therefore the Church even now is the kingdom of Christ, and the kingdom of heaven. Accordingly, even now His saints reign with Him.’That the PRESENT AGE is the Millennium. That Satan IS CURRENTLY bound “This binding of Satan began when the church began to spread.” His Errors He also denied that Adam’s sin has brought death into creation; On the Merit and Forgiveness of Sins, Book 1. Chap. 2 ) Rom. 5:12 Through one man, sin entered the world and death he taught the bodies of Adam and Eve were originally CREATED MORTAL – to die (On the Merit and Forgiveness of Sins, Book 1. Chapter 2) He interpreted the early chapters of Genesis figuratively (Dave Hunt, “Calvin and Augustine: Two Jonahs Who Sink the Ship,” Debating Calvinism: Five Points, Two Views by Dave Hunt and James White, 2004, p. 230). He Rejected Book of Revelation as canonical, that it was written by John (Eusebius, Church History. Book 3. Ch.28).
Augustine believed that the true interpretation of Scripture is derived from
the declaration of church councils (Augustine, De Vera Religione,
xxiv, p. 45). Exactly what the Catholic church of Rome still teaches. Augustine also taught the heresy of apostolic succession from Peter (Dave Hunt, A Woman Rides the Beast, p. 230)...” Source: David Cloud, Way of Life https://www.wayoflife.org/database/church_fathers_a_door_to_rome.html
Why would any protestant or independent Christian adhere or use Augustine?
Augustine on the Jews and Israel Augustine, “ we are Israel, the seed of Abraham … The Christian people then is rather Israel … But that multitude of Jews … for the pleasures of the flesh sold their birthright, so that they belonged not to Jacob, but rather to Esau.” ( Expositions on the Book of Psalms by Saint Augustine, 114.3) He allegorized Bible prophecy and teaching that the Catholic Church is the new Israel and the kingdom of God. Taking the names that were used exclusively for Israel and applying it to the Church. Augustine The City of God, book 18, chapter 46 “ ’Do not slay the Jews, lest my people forget. By your power, make them homeless wanderers Therefore, God has shown the Church in her enemies the Jews, the grace of His compassion. ” The scripture says the very opposite, God said he would bring them back into THEIR land. So here we see the church keeping Israel from her land given by God. Augustine was an oppressor of the Jews, “ How hateful to me are the enemies of your Scripture! How I wish that you would slay them [the Jews] with your two-edged sword, so that there should be none to oppose your word! Gladly would I have them die to themselves and live to you!" enemies of Scripture or the ones who Gave us Scripture? Augustine (354-430 AD) who wrote, “Judaism, since Christ, is a corruption; indeed, Judas is the image of the Jewish people: their understanding of Scripture is carnal.” Should this be applied to all? Did not the Jewish apostles write us the Scripture? The Roman church had rejected Genesis 12 Some of Augustine’s teachings Augustine much like Irenaeus stated: If we have been made sons of God, we have also been made gods ." Augustine; considered Greek LXX (+ Apocrypha) inspired and superior to the Hebrew it was translated from. Further false Doctrines of Augustine He taught that the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the means of salvation. Infant baptism and baptismal regeneration. It is said Augustine of Hippo c denied the immaculate conception that Mary was conceived without sin. However,Augustine, Sermon 289, cited in Durant, The Story of Civilization, IV, p. 69 taught that Mary did not commit sin and promoted her “veneration.” He believed that Mary played a vital role in salvation.
One of the many fathers of Rome’s Inquisition, He was a persecutor. He instigated persecutions against the Bible-believing Donatists who were striving to maintain biblical churches requiring that church members give evidence of repentance and regeneration. Is this someone to be listened to by christians? The Roman church certianly endorses him. Marilogist John Paul II, Quoted Augustine in his Augustineum Hyponensem , Apostolic Letter, Aug. 28, 1986He exalted the authority of the church over that of the Bible, declaring, “I should not believe the gospel unless I were moved to do so by the authority of the Catholic Church” (quoted by, www.cin.org/jp2.ency/augustin.html ).
What gospel - where? John Calvin in the 16th century derived his TULIP theology on the “sovereignty of God” from Augustine. Calvin said: “If I were inclined to compile a whole volume from Augustine, I could easily show my readers, that I need no words but his” (Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion , Book III, chap. 22). Yes, a portion of his doctrine is agreeable with Scripture, however there are certain portions that flash as bright yellow or red lights, and it is these we need to focus on. Michael Youssef states, “ Only in the Cross of Christ will we receive power when we are powerless. We will find strength when we are weak. We will experience hope when our situation is hopeless. Only in the Cross is there peace for our troubled hearts. The cross is a place of death, we are to have new life by the Holy Spirit who is the comforter who resides in us. All of this makes what youseff teaching as confusing. Dr. Michael Youssef wrote a new book An Unholy Alliancewhere he concluded correctlycivilization is being infected by two toxic ideologies that have joined forces: radical progressivism and radical Islam. Although diametrically opposed, they share one common goal: the destruction of your faith and the Christian values that led the West to flourish. Dr. Youssef exposes the radical coalition reshaping America—and shares what you can do to make a difference. I wonder How does this works when you are holding to Augustine’s teachings and not siding for Israel accepting their primary covenant? Is this denying prophecy? Biblical illiteracy is rampant, and people are going to fall for deception, for false teachings, for anything, because they're not grounded in the Word of God,” So why would a bible teacher who wants to spread the gospel be attached to this man augustine or the Romanized church of Constantin,? I would ask that Mr. Youseff abandon Augustine teachings and stick with the word that is truth.
