The NAR based its concepts for churches to be equipped with apostles and prophets on what John Wimber established in his Vineyard churches. That we must have signs and wonders accompany the gospel to be effective. Even though the gospel in the early church after the apostles were gone did not have these accompany them, this demand opened the door and produced false signs and wonders as the centerpiece and the gospel itself that produced salvation was diminished being less heard.
