Can you Find the Truth in the age of lies?
No one likes being lied to, whether it’s personally or in business or by the
news or government.
We are living in the time of pervasive lying, when a lie is told so easily
and the truth is told so weakly and inefficiently. In fact lies are told as
if they are the truth.
It is not so unusual for someone to listen and follow one that they know is
lying than one who speaks the truth.
Jeremiah speaks of a ssembly of treacherous men.
"And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies. vThey are not valiant for the truth on the earth.
Ps. 15:1-2 LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy
hill? He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, bnnd speaks the truth
in his heart". Today we are the temple ,of the Lord, his tabernacle.
As the Pslamists asks Ps 25:4-5" Show me Your ways, O LORD"
Truth is mentioned over 200 times throughout the Scripture (old and New
Testament) Throughout the Scripture God is called The “God of truth” (Deut
.32:4; Ps.31:5; Isa.65:16)You cannot kno his ways without having truth.
Truth is God's nature, just as love is. You cannot have a relationship with
God without the truth in your life. This is why he tells us to be honest, to
tell the truth.Truth is one of theu most important elements of Gods nature,
and the most talked about subjects from God, especially for man to keep.
This is because man was led astray in the beginning by a lie, something God
does not teach.
There are those who want to change the truth, altering it makes it into what
is false, a lie. Truth needs to be preserved, it needs to be guarded and
proclaimed to counter what is the influence of what is false. That is what
the church is to do, epecilly during this time t the nd of the age.
Lies came the Devil, Jesus says he was a liar from the beginning."
I Jn. 2:21 states “no lie is of the truth.”
1 John 5:19-20 "We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under
the sway of the wicked one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has
given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in
Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal
life.
The one who is called ‘the truth’ is spoken of in John 1:14 the people saw
and heard “the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace
and truth” (he later explains in Jn.17 he had this glory when He was with
the Father before the creation). The word charis (grace), which Paul uses
continually, does not occur in John's Gospel except in John 1:14,16-17,
aleetheia (NT:222) (truth) is one of the keywords in the Fourth Gospel and
in 1 John, it occurs 25 times in the Gospel and 20 in the John’s Epistles,
and seven times in the Synoptics and not at all in Revelation whom John
wrote.
John is concerned with the truth, as shown throughout his gospel. We also
read of John the baptizer who “came as a witness to the truth” (John 5:33),
it is he who introduced Jesus to Israel at his baptism as the one sent from
God to take away the sins of all people, as the lamb of God.. John bore
witness to the Truth and so did Jesus as he came as man to show us God.
John uses these two words to present the person of the Gospel in contrast
with the law associated with Moses. John 1:17-18 “For the law was given
through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
1 Tim 2:3-4God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to
the knowledge of the truth."Jesus told his ausdience“And you shall know the
truth, and the truth shall make you free."(John 8:32).
Yet there some Paul Later speaks of always learning and never able to come
to the knowledge of the truth2 Tim 3:7)
Gal 4:16 Paul had to correct a church he discipled"Have I therefore become
your enemy because I tell you the truth ? He risked being rejected, he had
no choice.
Psalmist writes, 57:3 "God shall send forth His mercy and His truth ."Ps
85:10-11"Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have
kissed. Truth shall spring out of the earth." Jesus came as the truth as he
became man. Jesus says of himself he is the Truth incarnate. Probably the
most famous statements next to Jn.3:16 is John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I
am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through Me.”There is no way, nor life without the truth, they are a spiritual
unity.
John previously explains in John 3:20-21 “But he who does the truth comes to
the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in
God.” Only those who do not do what is truthful, who are not being honest
with themselves and others will hide from the light that exposes the
darkness that we all have.
Jesus In his conversation with Pilate reveals “For this cause I was born,
and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to
the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." Pilate said to Him,
"What is truth?" (John 18:37-38). Pilate showed utter ignorance as a ruler
of his people.
That is THE question of the ages. A question that still must be answered by
every person alive, while they still have breath.
Listening to Jesus, following what he said shows you are of, and on the side of the truth.
for the ultimate truth is in a person.God incarnate Jesus christ. The yruth
can still be found
"the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who,
when he had found one pearl of great price , went and sold all that he had
and bought it." ( Matt 13:45-46) In this parable, it displays what finding
the truth is like , This is how we are to react when we find the truth, we give our life to him. |
