p.2 What have you done with your life? Prov. 15:3“The eyes of the LORD are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good.” We will ALL stand before the God of all creation to answer for how we lived. Consider him asking what did you do with his son. Did we live for him, or ourselves? Eccl 3:17 Solomon in his heart said, "God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work." What did we do with our life? Time passes so quickly We all have only certain amount of time on earth after we are born. None of us know what that is. Accidents happen, illnesses take place, life rarely goes as we plan. Ps 90:12 “So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.” In our lives, seconds turn into minutes, which turn into hours, then into days, then into weeks, then into years… and we look back on a lifetime. 15 times in Proverbs, the book of wisdom, and in the Psalms, God is asked to teach. Ps 86:11 “Teach me Your way, O LORD;I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.” “Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation”(Ps 25:4-5). Wisdom is found in God’s word (Prov.2:6), the longer we The wiser we are to become. Job 12:12 “wisdom is with aged men, And with length of days, understanding.” No one is guaranteed tomorrow. Considering that when we officially become a man (an adult) at 18 and can live into our 80s, or more. What did we do with the time we had each day? Consider that nearly 1/3 of our life is being replenished by our sleeping. Each day we eat preparing food or going out, by the end of life that adds up to be about 3 years. Maybe you spent years of time being educated at school, depending on what, it can be a good pursuit. Prov. 1:5 a “wise man will hear and increaselearning.”You be educated and spend all your time pursuing riches. Again Solomon, who was very rich stated, How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver ” (Prov. 16:16) We end up spending 25 plus months in the bathroom washing and doing what’s needed. Traveling to work, going shopping for food, necessities. Minutes turn into months, even years as we add up doing daily manual chores. When it is all added up, we have 300 months to do what we pursue, ¼ to at most 1/3 our lifetime. Does it involve God in our life? How is our time given to the one who saves us to be with him for eternity? Prov. 18:15 “The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.” Past generations did not have the same opportunity we have today to relax, they spent most of their time working to keep their life going. What are we doing with our free time, we know that much of the youth today spends nearly 90% of their time looking at a screen, some of it is helpful, much of it wastes time. Time spent relaxing or being entertained on the TV, the computers, or the phones we carry, diminishes the time we talk with others; we mostly text. And with new technology, the challenges to communicate human to human are going to increase. There are so many distractions, real interferences we all contend with; the world, the flesh and the devil. God has given everyone who is born natural talents, to enjoy life. Eccl. 3:12-13 “I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor--it is the gift of God.” 1 Peter 4:10 explains for those who are spiritually born, as we received a gift,we are minister it to another. He has also given us gifts and talents to serve him. Matt. 6:33-34 to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” We are to be wise, wisdom has us carefully map out HOW WE ARE LIVE. Eph. 5:15-16 “walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”This is accompanied with Col. 4:5 “ Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.” For those who are younger who have yet to make decisions, the Lord, your creator offers those who are restless with no direction, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matt.11:28; Isa. 40:31-41:1 ). Let the Lord renew you to do his work, not growing weary in doing good, (Gal. 6:9; 2 Thess. 3:13). |
