John calling Jesus the Word God has spoken to mankind throughout history. To hold to his Word is to hold to the Lord, this is why John calls Jesus the Word. For all that God communicated to us in history, his revelation of who He is, is found in the Son who is the Word who became flesh. John uses the synonym the Word for the Son. John using the term the Word in John.1:1 to convey that the Son is the creator in Gen.1:1. That this Word, is a divine person, has come into the world to reveal the Father. John presents the Logos as a pre-existent eternal being. By calling Jesus the Word, it meant he embodied the full revelation of God to mankind in a man. The Word is used in a metaphorical sense, as a person accomplishing Gods will. Heb. 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God , so that the things which are seen were not made of visible things. This has a dual meaning, one is that things were spoken to exist and the other is of the one who spoke it. In the Psalms in the Old testament Ps. 119:42 For I trust in Your word. V.50 For Your word has given me life. v.107 Revive me, O LORD, according to Your word V.114 I hope in Your word. V.160 The entirety of Your word is truth. Ps 31:5 Into Your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. His word is truth in a world that is run by lies. Ps 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right, and all His work is done in truth. Ps.119:160 The entirety of Your word is truth, Jesus said he is the truth, also said "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. (John 17:17-20) Ps 145:18 The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. So it should be apparent that our view on the Word should be as the Psalmist[s]. John records Jesus as bread, Jesus taught for us to pray for daily bread. John 6:32-33 Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. As stated Man shall not live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.That Word is the Scripture God gave us for our spiritual nourishmnet. John 14:17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. How can he dwell in us? Hes not automatically there at our birth. Eph. 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. 1 Peter 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through theword of God which lives and abides forever. The word Eternal in the Old Testament is owlam (meaning everlasting). In Greek, it is Aionos, applied to God it means without end, timeless having no beginning, of continual duration. God himself is called eternal, Gen. 21:33: The LORD, the Everlasting God. Ps. 90:2: from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. We are born by this Word of truth by receiving the gospel. James 1:18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. We are told God's name is holy, and yet we read You have magnified Your word above all Your name.(Ps 138:2) For it is His Word that helps us understand who God is and what he instructs for our life on earth. It is for our salvation. God spoke His people he formed as a nation directly, through the only man who could fill the offices of a prophet, priest and King. The words Jesus spoke, John 14:24: the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who sent Me Jn. 17:8: For I have given to them the words which You have given Me. Jesus said, The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63). This is why it states in 2 Tim.3:16 that all Scripture is God breathed, as the Psalmists recognized and wrote. These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me. Acts 10:43: To him all the prophets give witness. Jesus said to his people, You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me(John 5:39). V. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. As Jesus pointed out in John 5:38-40, all of Scripture speaks of Him thevolume of the book it is written of Me (Heb. 10:7). The one who is called the Word IS the redeemer, the savior, for he is God who became flesh. John 1:14 describes this event as the Word (Logos) became flesh (tabernacled), His body was a living Temple, as God was present among the people, just as he first was with Adam in the garden. This was done out of love for people. John 13:19: Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am [He]. It reads, you may believe that I am. What he also said previously: Unless you believe I Am you will die in your sins. (John 8:24). I AM is the eternal name of God that was revealed to Moses. So many acknowledge Jesus but do not accept nor comprehend who He is, who has God come in the flesh. At His return the whole world will know for comes in glory. Rev.19:13: His name is called the word of God. V.16: And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS LORD OF LORDS. This makes Jesus the King of righteousness having Gods glory, being the ruler of the universe; God. He comes again in triumph, in victory. His saints believed in the gospel will welcome him.
