Pt.2 The Religious zeal of Tradition Candace Owens was married in 2019 to George Farmer at Trump Winery in Charlottesville, Virginia. She later announced she became Catholic, at Brompton Oratory, also known as the London Oratory, a Roman Catholic parish church (where her husband attended. She had mentioned her husband goes to mass everyday). The formal title of the church is the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Not all Catholics are Marian followers; unfortunately, many are to a large degree. Her husband tells us he was brought up an Evangelical Christian in London, United Kingdom, converted from Evangelical Protestantism while studying theology at Oxford University, and received a degree. He gave a talk at LifeSite’s Rome Life Forum in Kansas City on "Godless Modernism has taken over the world, " Nov 12, 2024. The theme for the 2025 Rome Life Forum is “Fear Not, Her Immaculate Heart Will Triumph.” George Farmer is speaking at the CIC 2025 CATHOLIC IDENTITY CONFERENCE His Subject is ‘ANTICHRISTENDOM: on the new world order religion.’ Catholic Identity Conference is known for promoting dissent against the Pope (Francis or others). Candace spoke at this conference in 2024. Her picture is posted on CIC. We are told she joined a traditionalist Catholic movement called ‘Sedevacantism, which literally means the ‘seat is empty.’ They hold that since the 1958 death of Pius XII, the occupiers of the Holy See are invalid popes holding to one or more heresies, concluding the See of Rome is vacant. (I agree, the seat is always empty) Not all endorse this conference - CIC resistance - The resistance from CIC -CIC 2022 Numerous Catholic groups do not hold to Rome’s authority, known as traditionalists, they have some different views (I know personally of this, as I had a several-hour debate with one over 25 years ago, as I represented Evangelical Christianity; it became brutal at times). An example of traditionalists is the SSPX, the Society of Saint Pius X, of Roman Catholicism. This Catholicism that rejects the Second Vatican Council. The Society of St. Pius X, founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in 1970 as a “pious union” with the permission of François Charrière, the sitting Bishop of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg in Switzerland, was by far the largest traditionalist Catholic organization. They are reported to be a traditionalist group that is considered not to be in full communion with the Catholic Church . The Mass is celebrated every day in Latin , Tridentine Mass , the Roman Rite liturgy replaced mainly in general use by the post-Second Vatican Council Mass of Paul VI . The priests of the Society celebrate exclusively the Traditional Mass, also known as “the Tridentine Mass,” in Latin, the sacred language of the Roman Church. Was Latin the language of Jesus? No, it was the language of the Roman Empire. Pius X “ The Society believes that Christ founded only one Church and that the Catholic Faith was not an invention of men, but was revealed by God Himself.” The problem is that there was no ‘Roman Catholic Church’ until “Constantine” (in the 300s), but there was a Hebraic church headquartered in Jerusalem before the diaspora. From the Jews who believed on Christ, Christianity was being spread throughout the Roman Empire and Asia to the Gentiles. At the time Christianity was illegal and underground in the Roman Empire. Persecution escalated from Emperor to Emperor. George Farmer has said, “Christianity does not sit within any one political ideology; the Church sits above all of them.” Does he mean the Church rules over government? He certainly is not referring to the Church universal, once called Catholic by the early church, that was without Rome as its center. Today, Roman Catholicism claims to have 1.4 billion members worldwide. Candace Owens Farmer appears to be attached to one of these traditionalist groups. Some Catholics see Owens associated with outdated Catholic dogma that the Vatican has dismissed to justify Holocaust Denial and conspiracy theories. Regardless of this categorization Candace has become one of the main spokeswomen for the anti-Semitic/ anti Zionists movement that uses the political propaganda of both the left and Islamists to portray Israel as the most significant problem in the world. Her statements are often outrageous, accusing Israel of having control over world leaders and that the US support of Israel should not occur. On the Jews, these are just a few examples of her biased rhetoric from someone who claims not only to be a conservative but a Christian! She is aghast that we call something Judeo-Christian when Christianity came from Judaism and with its prophecies. Owens implied that the war in Ukraine is linked to the Khazars (these are non Jews who say they are Jews in Israel; others say they are the synagogue of satan). She believes in the ancient lies of blood libel (that “Catholics and Christians were going missing on Passover, then they would find bodies across Europe and they were able to trace them back to Jews.”) a portion of Israel to the segregated South. This video refutes her view, proving she is ill-informed on the topic. Of course, accusations of the Jews control the media, they control the white house, etc., etc. How many others like Owens are involved in this traditionalism is yet to be known. Her statement has caused a reaction from those in the field of reporting; Sarah Carter sums it up, responding: “Sadly, something seems to have gone wrong with Candace, so that she is now engaging in and spreading the most vile & vicious Jew-hating conspiracy theories, some of them dating back to the depths of ignorance from the Middle Ages!” Conservative journalist Christopher Rufo points out Owens had fallen victim to “algorithm-chasing” on social media, noting that “antisemitism drives negative attention” in an uncensored environment. He considers that: “ She fell into the trap and there is no way out.” Besides conservativism, she has as much to say about Christianity that is non Catholic, as Candace Owens CALLS Protestantism SATANIC — (Jwhit covers this in an entertaining way). She says Protestantism was hijacked for political purposes, which I find a problem because the church she joined began in politics, in Rome. She says , “what I would say is I very much accept now, uh, on the other side of this thing that the more that you study history, uh, the you you move very quickly away from Protestantism because you start to notice that It has always been hijacked as a political movement.” “There are So many protestant divisions clearly they can’t all be correct, right, they can’t all be correct. ….they go further and further and the more something becomes divided them more evil it becomes. Right? We should be aspiring to holiness. Holy things that are whole.” First, holiness does not mean whole; she should try reading the bible. It means to be separate. Maybe she didn’t think her argument through. Because you can have a single church (like Catholic) and not be correct either, no matter how old it is. So being undivided can also be evil. The Bible tells us to divide when sound doctrine is not being taught. The fact is, almost all of Christianity, protestant or independent (except for the cults), all agree on the core doctrines that make us Christian. Still, the Catholics do not agree on these fundamental core doctrines. So what does that mean? They have added to the Scripture from its inception, years after they introduced doctrines not found in the Scripture. As far as history, that which is unhidden… It’s not Protestantism that has been a political movement, but Catholicism. From its inception, the Roman Empire was a merging of the government (state) with religion. As Jews were focused (and still are) on Zion to become a reality (as were biblical Christians throughout the centuries), the Roman church established itself as the headquarters of Christ. After Constantine (Pontifex Maximus), Emperor Theodosius officially made Christianity the state religion of the Roman Empire in 380AD. It then took some time to make Roman Christianity the main religion throughout the known world. By the end of the 5 th century, the Roman church had become a completely different institution, with the ambition to rule empires from its home on earth, rather than making citizens for heaven until Christ returns to earth. One needs to conduct independent research to discover what actually happened in history. I say this because of Owen’s comment the more you study history, the more you move away from Protestantism . You can’t come to their conclusions unless you accept all the books of Rome’s history from Roman Catholic sources, which makes them look clean as the driven snow. What we should understand is that everything Candace is portraying comes from the particular Catholic view she has adopted. It has little to do with the Bible, as you will rarely hear her quote the Bible; she will mention the Church and Catholicism. The early Catholic Church held to the belief that they have replaced Israel and continues this position. They are spiritual inheritors of the covenant that God gave to the Jewish people. Eusebius, the appointed church historian under Constantine’s rule early in the 4th century, wrote that the promises in the Hebrew Scriptures were for Christians, not for Jews; the curses were for the Jews. God is now done with the Jews. Their proof, the Temple was destroyed (by the Romans), therefore the Jews have been judged by God. Yes, but to what extent? We read in Scripture that it is temporary, and that God will bring them back into the land as he promised, based on his covenant —a promise they no longer believe in (Rom. 11). Augustine, the first doctrinal teacher of the Roman church, stated “ We are Israel, the seed of Abraham … The Christian people then is rather Israel …”( Expositions on the Book of Psalms by Saint Augustine, 114.3) He and others spiritualized the prophecies, and this has been their attitude since its headquarters were formed in Rome. Like the catholic Church's predecessors, Candace calls Israel a “demonic nation,” maybe she has absorbed too much of the Health Ranger's teachings from Mike Adams, or read the position of Constantine’s Roman Church. Let’s look at history. Pagan Rome under Caesar made a sport of throwing Christians to the lions, burning them, killing thousands of Christians before their population that filled the Colosseum. When the Church of Rome was invented, immediate persecution stopped —for a while. History shows that Caesars were exchanged, as the Pope became head of both Rome and the Church. In Candace’s testimony about her conversion, the introducer for Owens described the Catholic faith as the ‘one true faith,’ the faith of the martyrs. Sorry to disagree; in history, many Martyrs, non-catholics, were killed by the Roman church throughout its history. These are the martyrs, not the ones who went to war to fight for the Roman church under the Popes. And let’s not forget the Jews, who were tortured to convert. We hear of patriots who have given their lives in America for freedom. Well, it is no different and even more important that the Christians gave their lives for the truth of the gospel for the bible to be read when Rome’s authority as a church was their enemy. Killing what they considered heretics and Jews had been a well-established practice for centuries by the Roman Church and had been confirmed by numerous popes. Christians were tortured to convert, or were massacred, burned at the stake by the hundreds of thousands, because they refused to submit themselves to the authority of the Roman Catholic Church. These were Christians of all types burned at the stake for believing the gospel of Christ and refusing to be part of or submit to Rome’s papal authority. These would be considered Protestants long before Luther. Before Luther, there was Wycliffe, who was called the morning star of the Reformation. There were many forerunners of the Reformation that were non Catholic. There were the Hussites, Albigenses, Vaudois, the Anabaptists, Huguenots, the Waldensians, all who opposed Rome’s state/church of Christianity (also known today in another form as the kingdom now, where they teach the church is God's kingdom and the vicar of Christ, the Pope, is God's only representative on earth). John Foxe was an eyewitness and historian of this ferocious persecution. His Book of Martyrsgives detailed accounts of many public trials and executions. One only needs to read Fox's Book of Martyrs on early church history of how many were slain by the Institutional church of Rome. Catholic first meant universal when there was no “Roman catholic church.” That is, until Christianity received legal status in 313 under Constantine, who established a new Roman empire with the church. The persecutions of Diocletian ended. This church was further developed later in the 300s. Constantine claimed to have had a Vision before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge. On Oct. 27, 312, assuring him of victory in the name of the Christian God. Eusibius, who was under Constantine’s jurisdiction to write on the church and history, in Chapter XXVIII : How, while he was praying, God sent him a Vision of a Cross of Light in the Heavens at Mid-day, with an Inscription admonishing him to conquer by that .” His interpretation of this vision Eusebius writes, “ about noon,… he saw with his own eyes the sign of a cross of light in the heavens , above the sun, and bearing the inscription, “By this symbol you will conquer.”
After Constantine's conquest, Christianity became a legal religion and was on its way to further merge with the state of Rome under the emperor, and later developed into the ‘Holy Roman Empire’ under the Popes. Was Constantine praying to God? Which one? He became the emperor of the Roman Christian Empire and was a pagan until the end of his life. He received Eusebius of Nicomedia on his deathbed and was baptized as an Arian (337 A.D.). Eusebius of Nicomedia opposed the Nicene council’s decision, which was supported by over 300 bishops who all agreed with Arius' view. He rejected the Triune view of God, of Jesus being God, and taught that Jesus was a creature. That is whom Constantine submitted to in his conversion to Christianity. This was the beginning of Roman Christianity, which I would think most Catholics would disagree with. The historian Kenneth Latourette makes the point in his “The First Five Centuries,” “ It is suggested that Constantine wished to conciliate the East, where Christians were extremely influential, without alienating the pagan majority in the West. Certainly, as we shall see, he did not go over completely to the Church, but remained in part pagan. In 314, when the cross for the first time appeared on his coins, it was accompanied by the figures of Sol Invictus and Mars Conservator. To the end he retained the title and office of Pontifex maximus and so remained the head of the pagan state cult ” (p.145). Christ is king Much can be agreed with LifeSite News and its stance on morality in society. LifeSite's motto is ‘Christ is king,’ which Candace uses (She has also spoken at their conference). Yes, Jesus is king; however, we are to understand this biblically. Jesus said his kingdom is not of this world; he rules in heaven, and today he is king of those who are in his spiritual kingdom, who came in by the gospel. He said his kingdom is not of this world until he returns. His subjects do not fight or make war, but are peacemakers with the gospel. Let’s not forget Jesus is born “King of the Jews.” Christ is seated in heavenly places, ruling; he never gave this authority to any one man for his church (not even Peter). He did give authority to the whole church through local assemblies. The kingdom is not the church; this became the mistake of Rome. Everything Candace seems to say is tied to her Catholicism. Some of these traditionalists see the Jewish people as a threat to the divine order of God. Seeing itself in opposition to other faiths, this includes Judaism, therefore Judeo Christianity is rejected as an acceptable term. This is what the early church of Rome believed. Separating from the Jewish church that began at Pentecost, Constantine started a ‘hostile policy toward the Jews.’ He wrote to the churches saying, “ We ought not therefore to have anything in common with the Jews, for the Savior has shown us another way.,,. It is our duty not to have anything in common with the murderers of our Lord.” And this accusation has been held since the Catholic church of Rome began, as a perpetual enemy of Christ with its teaching of deicide, regardless that Jews come to Christ, it is for these very reasons the majority of Jews have stayed away from anything of Christianity. Again, I quote Augustine’s view, “ Judas is the image of the Jewish people: their understanding of Scripture is carnal; they bear the guilt for the death of the Savior, for through their fathers they have killed Christ.” Today, they make use of scripture as a theological weapon. For example, the SSXP has a history of holocaust denial, anti-semitic conspiracy theories, and not having friendship with the Jewish people. They believe that Zionism is satanic, the Jews run global finance, etc. Sound familiar? All comes from the same early church. From the time Roman Catholicism was established in the 300s, it was considered the “New Israel.” Constantine made it very difficult for the Jews to live in Rome. On the society of SSPX , Pius X It was Pope Pius X who named John Chrysostom a patron saint of preachers, who was intensely anti-Jewish. “ I hate the Jews because they violate the Law. I hate the synagogue because it has the Law and the prophets. It is the duty of all Christians to hate the Jews” (Chrysostom's “Homilies against the Jews” (Patrologia Graeca pp.843-942). Theodor Herzl, the leader of modern Zionism (political?), met Pope Pius X at the Vatican on July 26, 1904, seeking papal support for the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Pius X refused to endorse Zionism, stating that the Catholic Church could not recognize a Jewish claim to Jerusalem—his reasoning: The theological significance of Jerusalem as sanctified by the life of Jesus Christ. Pius X personally opposed Zionists (political or otherwise) to establish a Jewish state in Jerusalem, emphasizing the sanctity of the city for Christianity and the necessity for Jews to convert to Catholicism if they settled in Palestine. Stating, the Jews have not recognized our Lord, therefore we cannot recognize the Jewish people.” The Pope then spoke: “Gerusalemme, he said, must not get into the hands of the Jews.” (from Jerusalem Post). Pius X said to Herzl, “We cannot prevent the Jews from going to Jerusalem – but we could never sanction it. The soil of Jerusalem, if it was not always sacred, has been sanctified by the life of Jesus Christ. As the head of the Church, I cannot tell you anything different. The Jews have not recognized our Lord, therefore we cannot recognize the Jewish people.”( Herzel’s report on meeting the Pope) To take this position showed how little he understood prophecy. Let me counter all this by saying that if the Jews had their own country anywhere else but Israel, prophecy cannot be fulfilled. This is why the enemy of God wants them out of the land. And he is using what are called naïve, unlearned, illiterate, and useful Idiots to do it. The changed Roman Church's position is still not valid Many traditional Catholics rejected Nostra Aetate at the Vatican Council II in 1965, which made a compromise for the Jews, rejecting the idea that all the Jews were guilty of the Crucifixion of Jesus and declaring persecution of Jews to be immoral, that “the Jews should not be spoken of as rejected or accursed.” Vatican II's position was a compromise. The Catholic Church refused to recognize the new State of Israel. On May 14, 1948, the Vatican’s official newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, declared, “Modern Israel is not the true heir of Biblical Israel, but a secular state . . . Therefore, the Holy Land and its sacred sites belong to Christianity, the True Israel.” Rome did not acknowledge the Jewish state in 1948, and to this day, Jerusalem must be an international city, not governed by Israel. Dave Hunt writes, “ In 1919, Cardinal Pietro Gasparri, Vatican Secretary of State, said, “The danger that frightens us the most is that of the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine.” A 1928 Vatican decree refers to Jews as “the people formerly chosen by God.” The Second Vatican Council in 1965 affirmed the centuries-old claim that “the Church is the new people of God....” We have quoted [TBC, Sep. '99] the June 22, 1943 letter to President Roosevelt from Pope Pius XII which said in part, “If a 'Hebrew Home' is desired, it would not be too difficult to find a more fitting territory than Palestine. With an increase in the Jewish population there, grave new problems would arise.” Dave Hunt concludes, so the “vicars of Christ” and their Church have consistently opposed the fulfillment of God's promises to His chosen people of the Abrahamic covenant! Most will agree with Candace on what she is against, but not always on what she is for. This becomes like the Hegelian dialectic. Even if she is right on some of the matters she is proclaiming, the way she is going about it is more stagey and blunt-force offensive. As the Scripture says Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. History What is historic authentic Christianity? Today, we have thousands of groups (often categorized as cults) that claim to keep or have restored true Christianity. Some major on specific points that are old, and others claim to be the original. Some focus on specific facets of their Christianity that define them as a denomination. The definition of true Christianity must be found in its source, the Bible. Jesus said to love him is to keep His Word. This is the word the apostles wrote for all Christians over the generations from Pentecost. And from the Word, they wrote several doctrines that one must hold to have the distinctive of a Christian. The first church council (Acts 15:4-29), held in Jerusalem around 45-50 A.D., was convened not by Peter but by Paul. And it was James, not Peter, who took the leadership, though Peter was called the apostle to the Jews, not the Gentiles. Rome and its Pope call themselves an Apostolic Church! But to be apostolic means to abide by the apostles' teachings, and neither Peter nor Paul was the Pope. In the early church writings, as flawed as some may be, we find no appeal to a Pope or the authority of Tradition as a separate and independent body of revelation. When George Farmer, Candace’s husband, spoke at LifeSite’s Rome Life Forum, he had some accurate points. Still, he also said, “there is no new Eternal truth there is new revelation prophecy apparition,’because “ they stand in the current of scripture and tradition the twin pillars of the church .” He neglects to see that Catholics have continually received new revelations, as made-up traditions throughout history. He stated churches out there are in total collapse, “and ours is still to some extent holding strong, we do have of course the fullness of Truth”(Godless Modernism has taken over the world, Nov 12, 2024). Not since their inception has this been true, as they continue to add what is not found in Scripture, which changes the truth. What does Scripture say? “Faith comes from hearing the word of God.” Faith does not come from traditions. Pt.3 |
