Here’s Lucy … no, Here’s Lucifer! You can’t find a greater difference in TV shows than I love Lucy and the television programs of today. People asked for more Bible type programs, what they got is a TV program with the last character they wanted to see from the Bible. This new show brought to the public from the conservative network Fox (not on Daystar network yet), casts Satan as a hero seeking redemption. TV entertainment has reached a new low with a series called Lucifer. Is it a comedy, a drama, fantasy or reality TV… or, is it a combination of all? What was unthinkable 15 -20 years ago is now blatant in your face mockery of the bible as a TV program. Lucifer quits his job in Hell because of boredom, and now lives in the city of Los Angeles (city of fallen angels; where else?). The Devil does something different, he's doing good. Across the screen come the question, “What if the Devil DECIDED TO QUIT” … “If” being the mendacious question. Satan is not going to quit, because he was never hired; and he’s no Hollywood actor. The devils real purpose is to deceive humanity which will continue until Jesus’ return; He does not quit but is stopped by being defeated. But I don’t think that will be the conclusion of this TV series. This Devil has a British-accent, he is well-dressed, handsome, debonair, charming and clever and acts like a gentleman. Prime time television now has “Lucifer portrayed” as a nice guy for your entertainment and they want viewers for years as the new and improved image influences the audience. Here’s the story line: He abandons his kingdom for the beauty of Los Angeles, where he tries to make amends helping the LAPD punish criminals. He becomes a police consultant to take down criminals by working with the law. The Devil’s reformation begins after a conversation with a pop star who attributes her success to selling her soul to the Devil. Lucifer then informs her that she did not do this, though he granted her one “favor” early in her career (Implication is that there is no such thing). In the pilot this singer he tried to help is murdered by a drug dealer, he uses his powers of persuasion to assist the police in solving the crime; Detective Decker in apprehending the murderer. He uses his unique abilities to bring out peoples secrets, he knows people's inner thoughts and deepest desires. Lucifer takes an interest in Chloe Decker is an LAPD homicide detective who appears immune to his abilities. She ends up solving crimes with Lucifer’s help. Besides a few general references, there is no mention of the Lord or Jesus on the show. All things considered that’s a good thing. So far no atheist has complained. But then should we expect them to when its not really teaching the Bible. Lucifer is presented as a likeable character with some ethical convictions, the opposite of the biblical portrayal of the leader of all demonic entities. Contrary to the real devil that wants to see a person die this one is saddened by that. The aim of the show (intentional or not?) is to change the image of the Devil. The Biblical description by Jesus states John 8:44 “He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” Jesus juxtaposes his intention with the oppose of God; John 10:10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may it more abundantly. The program is lifting up the Devil as some criminal being reformed, as if he is repenting for his past deeds. The TV show changes the storyline of the most evil lying murderer of all time, far worse than Hitler, Stalin and Mao, all for entertainment value. Lucifer Morningstar is portrayed as one cool dude, he drives around in a Corvette and with the California license plate FALLIN1; clever. He owns a high end nightclub in Los Angeles. Other demonic entities surround him. Mazikeen acts as a bartender at Lucifer's club and is a Confidante and a devoted ally of Lucifer Morningstar. She is the war leader of the Lilim, a race descended from Lilith. Amenadiel, arrives in LA to put pressure on him from their 'father' insisting Lucifer returns to Hell. Telling him his new life is upsetting Earth's balance. The implication is that God will not allow Satan to turn from his wicked ways and reform. Satan wants to help people and God wants him to stop. This is not a new idea as there are those who believe Satan will actually repent. We can’t expect anything to be correct (Biblical, except for the name) in the TV portrayal of the Devil. Satan does not live in Hell, nor does he want to be there; ever! Satan has free access to travel all over the planet, apparently, even to find his way into TV scripts. 1 Peter 5:8: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” That’s his real nature. He is foremost a deceiver and that is exactly what he is done by presenting himself in this manner over the TV. Lucifer is based on the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Keith and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, he was as a supporting character in the comic book series The Sandman that began in 1989. One Million Moms an advocacy group that seeks to remove inappropriate content from the media started a petition to have Lucifer cancelled from Fox’s 2016 schedule. The American Family Association (AFA) website had One Million Moms launched a petition to prevent the show's airing. Their statement:“ FOX’s new drama “Lucifer” is spiritually dangerous. The new program “Lucifer” glorifies Satan as a caring, likable person in human flesh. The character Lucifer Morningstar makes being the devil look cool, drives a fancy car, gets out of a speeding ticket, owns a nightclub in LA, and is irresistible to women.”The petition says the new series, "will glorify Satan as a caring, likable person in human flesh." Do they have a point? From what I have seen they certainly do, but the world has changed … In response to the petition, character creator Neil Gaiman commented on his Tumblr page: "Ah. It seems like only yesterday (but it was 1991) that the "Concerned Mothers of America" announced that they were boycotting the Sandman because it contained lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and trans characters. It was Wanda that upset them most: the idea of a trans-woman in a comic book… They told us they were organizing a boycott of The Sandman, which they would only stop if we wrote to the American Family Association and promised to reform. I wonder if they noticed it didn't work last time, either…" (source: wikipedia) It is said Pride comes before a fall... not the fall season. They have also asked people to focus on Olive Gardens that is supposedly sponsoring the show. They probably did so because of a monetary opportunity; but they chose the wrong show to put their chips on. I can’t ever recall any show glorifying this enemy of God and mankind on prime time. Many TV specials have mocked God and the Christian faith, but none have ever made Satan a hero, until now. Millions of young children who have no idea who the Devil actually is. They will see the Devil portrayed as someone not as bad as the Bible makes him out to be. Avoiding the macabre they made a program exalting Satan to a benevolent angel who has a bad rap. He becomes so concerned for humanity that his own demonic consort, Maze implores him to “stop caring!” so much about people. The re-imaging of him has always been a goal. After all prophecy tell us he will take the place of the real God in the last days and deceive the masses into thinking he is Christ. He’s very good at lying. Many have already expressed their anger and hatred toward God, not the Devil. This will only reinforce that caustic view. Having his name and character on TV each week shows he is still alive and well, even for entertainment. Some may say “it’s only a TV show,” but they ignore the exposure and influence it may have on impressionable young people who may not know any better. The ratings show millions watching in the first several shows. Yes, there really are lovers of Lucifer looking for converts, consider the Masons and their 33 degree of enlightenment, and then there is the “ First 'Greater Church of Lucifer' to Open Doors in Texas” 10/14/2015 http://www.charismanews.com/us/52631-first-greater-church-of-lucifer-to-open-doors-in-texas“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)
