Our continual fight against diseases and what was predicted We may not realize that the earth is filled with diseases. Before a vaccine was made an estimated 3 to 4 million people in the US (majority children) got measles before they were 15 years of age. It is still with us as more than 140,000 people worldwide died from measles in 2018. An estimated 11–20 million people get sick from typhoid and between 128, 000 and 161, 000 people die from it every year. Tuberculosis is a pathogenic bacterium, an airborne contagion. It is the leading infectious cause of death worldwide. Nearly one quarter of the world's population are infected, 1.8 billion people, and 1.5 million die from it. 80% of people in many Asian and African countries test positive, in the United States 5–10% of the population test positive. The 1918 Spanish Flu had a mortality rate of 2.5 percent, by its completion it infected about one-third of the world’s population. What we know is COVID-19 is worse and could be the 21th century's most contagious disease so far. The best we can do, is compare the new coronavirus to other similar viruses. In 2002, the SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) virus emerged, infected 8,098 people and killed 774 within a year or so, then seemingly vanished. The 2009 H1N1 Pandemic emerged, also known as swine flu, the CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases in the US. 11,690 people had died (including 1,180 children). 151,700 – to as high as todays estimates of 284,000 people died worldwide from (H1N1)pdm09 virus infection. In 2012, the MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome) virus emerged, and continues. It has infected 2,442 people and killed 843. The case-fatality ratios for SARS and MERS were high, 9.6% and 34.5%. Covid19 World Wide (¼ of these in the USA) this is now a historical epidemic that will decimate us if we do not control it. Worldwide, 180,000 new cases were reported in one day. It is like seesaw in its new infections, June 21 had 26,102 new cases and 271 new deaths. 2 days later it was up to 36,038 new cases and 871 new deaths. June 24, 38,412 new cases and 819 new deaths (127,640total). Texas, Florida and California are currently the leaders with 5,232, and 5,511. Altogether over 4,000 in one day newly infected in the US. Plagues through History After Jesus warns about deception which is the main theme of this time period called the last days Matt 24:6-9 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Jesus said, “There will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” What Jesus spoke of is worldwide increases of conflict between the nations, wars and rumors of war. Earthquakes will be seen in various places, even places that they were not before (there’s been an uptick in 5.0-6.0 earthquakes). All these will increase in frequency and strength until these signs all are coincide together. He had told us of these being seen together as The Matthew account, the word pestilence (diseases, virus’) is not found in this manuscript, according to the interlinear Bible it was added. It was probably added in Matthew because Luke, who was a doctor certainly made sure this was included, as he recorded the same account in Luke 21:11 (Gr) Limoi kai loimoi (Interlinear Transliterated Bible) These are two similar words of the same root. Luke 21:11 Famines and pestilences limoi (NT:3001) kai (NT:2498) limoi (NT:3001). A play on the two words pronounced just alike in the Koine (an itacism). We have had waves of these take place over the span of centuries. Before the corona virus, other deadly pandemics and epidemics ravaged the globe, resulting in horrific death tolls. Five of the deadliest in history: ANTONINE PLAGUE (165-180 AD): believed to have originated in China with 5 million dead. PLAGUE OF JUSTINIAN (540-542 AD): Near or more 25 million dead from being brought over by rat-infested merchant ships sailing into Egypt. THE BLACK DEATH (1347-1353 AD): 50 to 200 MILLION + died. SPANISH FLU (1918-1920): This influenza infected 25 million deaths in the first half year. Being the worst recorded in recent history, with one-third of the earth’s population becoming infected with the H1N1 virus, eventually killing up to 50 million people. HIV/AIDS (PEAK YEARS 2005-2012): Originally thought to have started in the Congo when the virus was transmitted from chimpanzee to human. The virus that causes Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) – began spreading in America in the 1980s. 36 million have died. The Covid 19 is different than any other of its predecessors as it is still being debated while new variants are surfacing. 2020 will no doubt be a year that goes down in history books (and 2021). Prov. 6:16-19: Of the six things the LORD hates,…. A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.” All are applicable to what is taking place in both the secular, and the Church. 90 million more Worldwide got the virus and 2 million have died since Kenneth Copeland spoke it to no longer exist! As did others speak their words of faith to battle the devil. Furthermore no one has been cured by Rodney Browne’s machines that he has in his church that he boasted of curing Covid. None of this helps the churches reputation to the public, it brings shame. No matter how much you are disturbed, there is God, and he is sovereign. Let us call upon the Lord Ps 86:7 “ In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me.” (1 Sam.22:4; Ps.55:16; 145:18). Trouble is upon us as a nation, it is now pervasive in the world. We can trust in the one who has us in his hands in spite of what is taking place. As Solomon stated, To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven – what season are we in? Let us understand the time. Matt 24:8 “ All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matt 24:8 The word means birth-pangs, these woes, says Jesus, are not a proof of the end, but of the beginning. (from Robertson's Word Pictures in the New Testament) The idea is of travail, once a woman goes into birth there is no backing out. What comes after … we all need to pay attention to. Jesus spoke “the night is coming when no one can work.” Let’s put aside any apathy and do His will wherever and whenever we can while we still can. |
